The critics ravaged the movie, but none of them ever won so much as a toilet seat, let alone an Academy Award. David Lean's movies won, I believe, 18 Oscars in his career and for me, Ryan's Daughter was one of his best. I wached it three nights in a row in 1971, in Hawaii and remember telling everyone that I knew that a village idiot , who never spoke a word in the movie was going to win an Oscar. I was right. John Mills won it for Best Supporting Actor. Great, great movie. An epic.

I think that an intimate sequence done like this is much more erotic than anything the adult film industry has to offer; you can feel the moment, the artistry of the shots inspire the emotions that surround the physical act of love in the most honest way. Where the adult film industry is obscene, this is so human that no matter who you are there should be no guilt felt in viewing. Gorgeous.

Is this not the most amazing, intense & wonderful love scene ever!! They are both brilliant in this movie & this is one of the finest love scenes I think I have EVER seen in ANY movie. I miss you Christopher Jones. You will always be one of my favorite actors...always!! xx :)

I'm an Italian girl and only a few days ago I saw for the first time this movie and I was shocked not only the content and therefore its significance but also by the extreme beauty of the protagonist Christopher Jones.

I really love him just that the only problem is that now the actor has almost seventy years but will always be the man most beautiful, sexy and sweet that I have ever seen in my life!
