Powering down is basically rebooting the system. Main reason why rides (brake) down is usually due to either a technical glitch in the system or a sensor on a part of the track was tripped by accident. When the ride shuts down it has to pre-operational mode, it has to go through the check points as when getting the ride started up for the day. That can take up to two hours.

i think they power down the ride so the cast memebers trying to rescue you don;t get hurt

once a few years ago i was stuck on pirates right in front of the bird and I kept yelling "turn off the bird"!!! because I thought it was annoying xD they actually did. later we had to "walk the plank" to get off. It was fun

Every time I go to Disney I get stuck on at least one ride. Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones, Pirates, Star Tours, Autopia, Buzz Lightyear, Space Mountain, Its A Small World, and Thunder Mountain. The only two rides that I have not been stuck on that I have always wanted to get stuck on are Matterhorn and Peter Pan.

i believe they are shutting down the system and telling the employees and passengers to be aware when the ride starts up again

im not sure but they say it on every ride i've been on besides pirates when it gets stuck. i think they tell all cast members to stand clear of the tracks,or any electrical components so when they turn it off they don't get hurt? if you notice in the video after they say that, the ride makes a noise and i remember the car jolting. who knows?! i'll ask a cast member next time i happen to get stuck!

@jedi725 Basically it means they are disabling the ride at that point. Power Down means to turn off the ride. Litterally.

@jedi725 basically it means a ride system reset. They tell people to stand clear becuase there is a possibility that the brakes may reset and the train may move.

I got stuck on splash mountain, space mountain, same as you guys right now, submarine voyage, startours, tower of terror, all the little rides in the castle, it a small world, thunder mountain california screamin, soarin, pirates of the caribean, haunted manision, ect. Your not the only ones who get stuck on everything

yeah it is. i used to live in cali and we had year round passes. its the best when you get to get off and walk through and around the ride, while getting to see things few people beside those that work there get to see. my favorite 'stuck ride' was space mountain, the indoor roller coaster. they turned the lights on and just push your car so you coast the rest of the ride! it was awesome!

That is hilarious! I've also been stuck on just about every DL ride but the longest was in POTC - the boats kept stopping and we were stuck listening to various sections for over an HOUR. "we want the redhead! we want the redhead!!" nomorenomorenomore....

A few yeas ago i got stuck on indiana jones right in front of the boulder. and Ive got stuck on pirates of the caribbean in front of davy jones. been stuck on space mountain. been stuck on splash mountain. been stuck on california screamin. Got stuck lots of times the haunted mansion. been stuck on big thunder mountain. and lots lots more!!!
