@114309H I have WT 3730 here on Youtube is video about it. It is not heavy so this tripod is better for a small compact camera.I got it on a sale for 20 € It goes well with a small carry bag.In the future I buy better, this is not enough sensitive and it should run at the top.Tripod with ball head

I just caught a red moon with mine. The thing was just in the frame about half the time because it was freezing outside and I was shivering like hell. The autofocus still got it.

@droydroy Its the metering. Since the target (the moon) is bright it is reducing the exposure, thus turning the sky black.

@droydroy No it should not be the same blue, since all the light is coming from the moon, aperture (and iso?) will change. When the not so bright moon is the main light source, the suroundong area will look black.

@droydroy The Sky bacames black because the the moon is so bright and the camera needs to chage its apertrue and brightness settings to focus on the moon.

I am hoping to use any new digital camera I buy, whether it is the SX230 or the S-9100 to take shots through my 10" telescope. In the past, I simply pointed the camera down on the focal lense, zoomed in and found the "sweet spot". Does anyone out there know anything about this crude technique( which takes some pretty spectacular photos of the moon) and which camera would be best? I cant afford the $700 that would be required for the right camera.

How do you get the optical and digital zoom? I can't seem to change my settings on my camera

@xCosmicJohnx you should see a vertical line towards the zoom of the zoom indicator bar. When you go to the right of that line, you are in digital zoom.

I got the SX230 HS and took a bunch of low light videos that came out completely dark. I recorded when set on Auto. Is there a way to adjust the settings to make the video at least a bit visible in low light situations? I know you can adjust for taking photos, but was wondering about video.

@LizaNYCfun I recorded video set on normal ,my menu is finnish language. And then menu Digital Zoom normal, then you have the opportunity to zoom in 56 x It is very easy.
