a car with 8 speeds is going nowhere fast. too many gears, the car is constantly changing its mind. and it has a conventional torque converter, so it isnt the quickest shifting tranny. the is-f needs to shift to gear 3 before it even hits 60. respectable car, very powerful motor, neat engineering, but nowhere near the likes of an M3 or even an RS5..n no one plz knock my name, that was my first car when i was 16. and it was an 07 si not a shitty 92 with a fart cannon.
@emptyvid ... lol no one gives a shit that you think no one gives a shit.. i bet you bet i cant drive it because i bet you're a homo who bets that people cant drive their car cuz i bet you're a homo and i bet you think you're so cool cuz you bet i cant even drive it i bet you that me betting you're a homo is a winning bet and so i am cooler than you
@x89150152 dude, your an idiot, you can't even put together a good sentence haha, are you fucking joking me? re-read your post. your a fucking retard, and i guarantee you can't drive it. and even if you can, no one cares.
@ emptyvid lol if you couldnt tell i was trying to be stupid.. so i think you're the fucking retard you fucking retard.. and i can drive it better than you can.. because you dont have it! HAHAHAHA
For one thing. I do think IS-F was a great start. Japan has not been making high performance that competes with cars priced higher than 50k. The reason is that Japan is more into after-market modification to compete with higher performance cars of Germany. If you look at Japanese car magazines all cars are evo, S2k, 350z, rx-8 modified like hell.
Mod is not required to compete against the German cars, mod is only done to make the cars even better, since it is so easy to mod the Japanese cars unlike the German cars.
S2000 does not even require a mod to beat Z4, in fact, the US magazines did rate S2000 higher than Z4.
See, the thing is that, Japanese brands were pretty much playing around the lower price range all these years, until cars like GTR and ISF came out. Name a 2000~2006 STOCK Japanese car that can beat an M5. I know it's because M5 is much much more expensive, but that's the thing. Japan did not make any expensive performance car till now. That's why they needed mods.
Right, but NSX couldn't keep up with mad expensive cars. Plus, NSX and GTR were THE ONLY expensive cars from Japan. All the other ones were cheap, modifiable. That's the thing about Japanese cars. They're cheap and modifiable.
Cheap and modifiable, and you think that is all? Name me a single European car that can offer you such reliability, performance and modifiable system at the price of Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla.
I agree. These days, all Porsche did was to come up with a sedan that looks hideous. German brands had better get their engines to be more reliable to compete with Japan in the next decade.
You know, when I graduate from college and get a job in the media industry and make some decent amount of money, there is no way I would buy BMW 335i or Mercedes or Audi because I don't want some car that is too badgey(And indeed, the European brands are very badgey, compared to Infiniti or Lexus) and unreliable at the same time.
I can picture myself buying Nissan 370Z, Infiniti G37 or Honda S2000 by then. Or if I had unlimited budget, then Lexus LS600h L.
Definitely. Because LS600h L is praised as the smartest luxury sedan in the entire world, and if I had unlimited budget, then of course I would get it.
And kinda my dream is to race against the Mercedes S or BMW 7 series owners on the track with my own Lexus LS. That would be fun.
People really underestimate M3... M3 will smoke this car anyday. For one thing, BMW's been working on suspension and handling for decades... lexus?? uh... no... this is a good drag and show off car
You know, I entirely agree with you. You got a point there. I just didn't want people to be completely oblivious to facts and information. I have to say, to me, ISF just isn't put up together. Starting with disappointing fake exhausts to entirely too many 8 gears that changes its mind constantly. But it's definitely a good-looking car inside and out, and nice engine.. assuming it's relatively reliable as well.
Regarding exhausts, they're not 'fake'. True extremely hot exhaust pipe is inside and is surrounded by a chromed ending to isolate it from the plastic bumper which could melt otherwise
Other cars have it too. Like Audi R8 for instance and no one shouts about it
BTW, honestly, does a 'fake' exhaust make somebody's life worse?
8 gears? We live in the world of consumerism. More and bigger is better. Makers make what consumers want and these are us stupid who made any overkill design
Wow, I didn't know that. You really know your stuff. And it seems like lambo's and even veyrons have 'fake' ones too. Haha, I guess I was oblivious to the real facts too.
Well, people have been choosing BMW M3 or Merc C63 AMG because there wasn't a luxury compact sedan with high performance like those 2 before, but now it is all different. According to Autospies, Lexus IS-F has beat Merc C63 AMG and BMW M3 sedan on sales last month, telling you that now more people are chooing Lexus over those unreliable ugly junkboxes aka BMW M3 and C63 AMG.
And now M5 has a new rival, a Cadillac CTS-V. Now the days of the German automakers are over.
Well, that's hard to believe. They can tweak information one way or another. It could be just last month, or IS-F vs. M3 Sedan only. For one thing, there's no way IS-F could've beat the "total" sales, since M3 was around for much longer than IS-F.
Well, I've stated all possibilities. It could be just for that month. Cumulative, not sure about that. That's the "tweaking" part they would not mention. True, lexus sells more than other Japanese luxury brands. But no more than BMW. I see more 3,5 series running around than... let's say... all of Lexus combined.
It looks like your deluded Euro fantasy gets in your way to see the reality. When did I ever say Lexus only sells more than other luxury Japanese brands? Lexus is the BEST SELLING LUXURY BRAND in the US for YEARS.
Ya, BMW 3 series is now as cheap as a Chevy car, now it is as common as Toyota Corolla, that's true. I can see BMW becoming a new GM soon.
I'm just discussing a point, I'm not in Euro fantasy. I for one am an Rx-8 fanboy. And it's hard to believe Lexus is the BEST SELLING. I mean, again... I see more Audi's and BMW's than Lexus around the street. But then, that's entirely from my perspective.
I see many Lexus ES around here, and actually ES and IS sell a lot in the US.
You don't need to believe it, because that's what Lexus always has been. It always has been the best selling luxury brand in the US, because Lexus did a lotta ad in the US.
Well, many of the rich people like rich soccer moms were pissed off by the bad reliability of Mercedes and BMW, so they now drive Lexus RX. And LS is pretty popular among old executives in America.
the auto bleep when down shifting is the computer trying to keep the engine speed with the ground speed so when you are coming out a turn your rpms are in the 4700 and higher

Who said anyone needed mods? The Japanese companies only made affordable and modifiable cars for the many.
And actually Skyline GT-R always has been expensive, so was Acura NSX. Actually NSX was the first Japanese supercar, not GT-R or IS-F.

I never said Japanese makers sucked or anything. I KNOW for a fact that they're reliable, real bang for buck.

You didn't see all, bud, you didn't see all...I wonder how Porsche is going to react once they see the all new Acura NSX and Nissan GT-R V-Spec.

I just can't wait for 2010

LZKS: "People really underestimate M3... M3 will smoke this car anyday"
It is not about smoking, can't you undertand?
IS F is fractionally slower around the track and not as perfect in all details as M3 is but it can be a full-on alternative. And Lexus' halo car
Since M3 is so good it was a sort of default choice for a ultra performance sedans. If you want something more exotic, here it is
Same with evergreen GT-R vs 911 Turbo battle. It's not about secs but another way and halo cars
