a car with 8 speeds is going nowhere fast. too many gears, the car is constantly changing its mind. and it has a conventional torque converter, so it isnt the quickest shifting tranny. the is-f needs to shift to gear 3 before it even hits 60. respectable car, very powerful motor, neat engineering, but nowhere near the likes of an M3 or even an RS5..n no one plz knock my name, that was my first car when i was 16. and it was an 07 si not a shitty 92 with a fart cannon.

For one thing. I do think IS-F was a great start. Japan has not been making high performance that competes with cars priced higher than 50k. The reason is that Japan is more into after-market modification to compete with higher performance cars of Germany. If you look at Japanese car magazines all cars are evo, S2k, 350z, rx-8 modified like hell.

Mod is not required to compete against the German cars, mod is only done to make the cars even better, since it is so easy to mod the Japanese cars unlike the German cars.

S2000 does not even require a mod to beat Z4, in fact, the US magazines did rate S2000 higher than Z4.

See, the thing is that, Japanese brands were pretty much playing around the lower price range all these years, until cars like GTR and ISF came out. Name a 2000~2006 STOCK Japanese car that can beat an M5. I know it's because M5 is much much more expensive, but that's the thing. Japan did not make any expensive performance car till now. That's why they needed mods.

You know, when I graduate from college and get a job in the media industry and make some decent amount of money, there is no way I would buy BMW 335i or Mercedes or Audi because I don't want some car that is too badgey(And indeed, the European brands are very badgey, compared to Infiniti or Lexus) and unreliable at the same time.

I can picture myself buying Nissan 370Z, Infiniti G37 or Honda S2000 by then. Or if I had unlimited budget, then Lexus LS600h L.

You know, I entirely agree with you. You got a point there. I just didn't want people to be completely oblivious to facts and information. I have to say, to me, ISF just isn't put up together. Starting with disappointing fake exhausts to entirely too many 8 gears that changes its mind constantly. But it's definitely a good-looking car inside and out, and nice engine.. assuming it's relatively reliable as well.

Regarding exhausts, they're not 'fake'. True extremely hot exhaust pipe is inside and is surrounded by a chromed ending to isolate it from the plastic bumper which could melt otherwise

Other cars have it too. Like Audi R8 for instance and no one shouts about it

And now M5 has a new rival, a Cadillac CTS-V. Now the days of the German automakers are over.

Yes, it's for sale. They run about $60k. Most of the larger Lexus dealers have 1 to 2 in stock. But most are presold.
