I think cause being an art student, you have a lot of ego. So from the beginning, the guy was "I know this is a trick, I'm gonna figure this out." So as Darren walked out, this guy had all this "hate" and "darkness" so that when Darren said "see right through him", the guy went "I'm not falling for it!" but Darren fed him some of his own ego so that... I lost myself. Oh, there we go. The mind gets lost when you try too hard to explain things, and if there's no explanation your fear can't face...

skanuser is right the only light in the room is on the student and when he stands up the light is reflecting off the jacket and when he takes it off the student can't see shit when he opens and slams the door he thinks he leaves then he use's a way of walking to where you walk but the person in the room cant hear you but the camera can because of the sensitive sound accordance so you can see and hear him but that guy cant

The room is darker than what it appears on TV. This is done for the viewers. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to see shit.

He's not actually invisible. He's using the position of the only light in the room to play tricks on the student's eyes.

Guys, it's pretty evident that during the beginning part is where he 'hypnotises' the student...while holding his hands on the table, staring in his eyes with his face in the clear light and the steady voice, even stroking the student's hand at 1:01 is all part of the mind deception he is working on. Obviously the human mind is not that hard to lead in whatever direction you choose, I just hope my defenses are strong enough to not fall for it as easily as that student did.

Derren Brown is not a big believer (from what I have read in his books) of NLP. To me, this essentially seems exactly the same as many of his other hypnotism effects, but he is simply pretending to achieve a different outcome (invisibility to another person).

It's not "fake" in the sense that many of the morons commenting mean, but it is almost certainly not NLP.

I've never been hypnotised & my first instinct I guesss is that it's all fake. How can this guy, after 2 minutes of talking, not see the guy? How can a woman think her red car is now black just cos he said one sentence to that effect? These people are certainly "very suggestable" but I don't see how they can be misled to this degree! It's worrying if humans are able to be misled this way. Imagine what could be done at election time, or if you wanted to commit a crime Manchurian Candidate style.

I have been a hypnotist for 16 years and this is not very hard to accomplish once you have someone in a somnambulant state. However I have never been able to do this by just conversing with them for a few minutes. Maybe this is a case of permanosis.

That's funny cause I've been invisible as recently as yesterday night, but in a totaly different manner. I manedged to acheive a lucid dream state then just decided I wanted to be translucid, and I did. I wonder if there is a way to use this invisibility suggestion to escape a guard's attention or something
