  • Stand on it son, make that Jimmy Scream !!!!

  • damn that was sweet

  • Sounds like my neighbors trackhoe. haha

  • Wish my Dodge sounded this good!

  • baaaad aaaas!!!!

  • Awsome truck man. Gotta love that genuine Detriot Diesel sound!!

  • not quiet inside at all but i LOVE the sound of a good ol 2 stroke detroit

  • The sound is too good for words.

  • Comment removed

  • Looks like you are driving in Eastern Washington.. Hwy 2/97 Orondo.

  • stroke this bitch

  • i just don't understand how people can like the sound out of petrol engines, diesel is soooooooo much better :D

  • Wouldn't mind having that Detroit Diesel in 1976 Chevrolet Silverado.

  • Love sorry

  • I live the STOP AHEAD while it's screaming! The next thing should say deploy landing gear.

  • is this a v8 or v6 detorit?..it sounds like a v8..but either way i like both the truck, motor and the vid's u made of them both..great job!!

  • @EMDSD14R Neither.....it's a 4-53 turbo. Still sounds mighty sweet though!!

Curious what tranny is being used.

  • @Gxr oh i see..yeah i heard tht sweet sound of tht turbo..its a great sound..yeah what tranny is being used tht another thing tht i was wondering about..and also is it easy to find these engines and parts for them?...i am thinking about making my own version...i've seen a guy on u tube tht put a detorit in and 04 ford f350 or 450..best sounding engines ever in my opinon...i heard one a few days ago in a Philly fire truck with an allison auto trans

  • how fast does it go and whats the HP on this beast?..i love tht sound..great vid..i wonder what they guy in the dodge was saying when u drove by

  • the guy you drove by in the one ton dually was pry asking himself wtf just passed me??

  • Send me a PM.

    I'll buy your truck.

  • could be a wc t5, thats what ive got in my mustang, holds up to the little over 400 ft lbs I have just fine.

  • Im gonna do a 318 detroit swap in my 72 highboy i'm so sick of the huge cummins craze, I can figure out how to make motor mounts but putting a 318 in front of a NP435 4spd is the route im taking i dont know how a T5 can hold up with the torque? but in any case i love your truck..

  • where u get the engine

  • What transmission are you using? I must know. Such a swap for my 64 C10 is brewing in my head as type this.

  • @madtownmadman I think he put a BW T-5 behind it. How it lives I don't know.

  • @earsneyes43 That may very well be true. Theres a video here on Youtube, of a rat rod that a guy built with a 3-53, and it has a T-5 behind it as well.

  • @madtownmadman This swap has been done enough over the years that there should be a list of parts needed to do it. I think most of this stuff is old school stepvan equipment. I know that the breadvans use 1 ton Ford and Chevy chassis, so getting mounts and such shouldn't be absolutely impossible, and the OEMs offered the 3-53 and 4-53 at one time or another.

  • I love this sound.

  • what dd is this? and what trans do u got?

  • Amazing stuff

  • Fuck yeah

  • you sir are my hero

  • im really wanting to do this but kinda intimidating what all is required wiring wise?

  • @crownviclvr The only wiring you need is to the starter and the alternator and if your rig has idiot lights you'll need to hook them up.

  • beatifull

  • watching this makes me wish i had put that 6v92T in my old 82 F350 when i had the chance this vid makes me cry and have wood at the same time

  • That is awesome!!!

  • awesome truck how much rpm's souns like 25000

  • @v8power200

    governd @3100 rpm.

  • Music to my Fucking Ears!

  • 6V53T or 6V71T?

  • this video gives me wood better than my girlfriend. probably gives better head too

  • All time favorite youtube video!

  • Time for some DynaMAt on the floor and firewall and... if you get the A/C working, you can close the windows!

  • What's your top cruising highway speed?

  • this is a retarded question but can u put this motor in a truck that is 4x4? n where the hell do u get 1 of these things?

  • pass me a tissue i seemed to have spilled tapioca in my pants

  • i love that sound it is awesome.

  • dear god this is fucking epic

  • fuck cummins

  • @Hotrodx199 i agree 100 percent although i like the old iron lung cummins

  • Dude that's amazing. I've never heard anything like it. =\

  • FUKN-A-right doggie!!!!!!!!!!!!! evrytime i watch this i get the fattest boner!!! DETROIT DIESEL or nothin!

  • I've watched this video at least a dozen times. I stll love it. I know where I can pick up a '72 F250 with a running 429 in it that I could snatch up for probably $300. It would be IDEAL for this swap!! No I just need to find a good BUILDABLE 453 core.

  • 2 people thumbed this video down and those same 2 people are getting a fat cock up their ass.

  • @420witchdoctor A 600 hp detroit diesel cock with 2000 lb-ft of torque.

  • I LOVE IT!

  • Im doing a 6v53 in a chevy crew cab conversion right now and I have to say that I got wood after seeing this video !

  • Music... 5/5

  • get after it son! bitch is hoss.

  • I want it

  • go man go! best dd video yet!

  • that thing must have more torque than you know what to do with.

  • Wow yeah that really is amazing. I didn't see what kind of trans you are using. I would really love to know. I grew up around these screamin' greens, then worked on them in the army. So what is the trans in that sucker?

  • If you listen to him shifting, it sounds to me like a Eaton 5-speed with a 2-speed aux. Also knows as a 5 over 2. That was a VERY common transmission to be put behind medium duty trucks with 2-cycle Detroits in them.

  • t-5 trans

  • wow i need to find one of these motors for my 63 chevy

  • I am going to say the same as every one else, I WANT THAT TRUCK!

  • I am really liking your Truck. I really like the idea of a detroit diesel in an old pickup. Yours is really cool. It looks like it's got some off the line power too. Great job! I hope to build something like that someday.

  • Awesome!!!

  • A ford truck worth having.

  • I WANT THAT FUCKING TRUCK !!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • detroits are awsome .

  • If you love the sound of a diesel engine then this is perfect for you, I think thats awsome :)

  • omg I love the sound of that detroit

  • can i have that mean manachine its wicked !!!!!

  • That sound is SWEET!! Love the truck.

  • That gave me wood...seriously.

  • @JBCalander same here 8---------D

  • @JBCalander you aint tha only one gettin wood !!!!!!!!

  • @JBCalander It gave me wood, and then made me make a deposit in my shorts!

  • i never get tired of watching this video.

  • Question: Why would you put a GM in a Ford?

Answer: Cuz I wanted to go fast!

  • That was excellent.

    Thanks for nice video.

Would love to see an in-cab video of you pulling something heavy just to be able to listen to the turbo get a good working over.

    J

  • How much are these engins? And can I install one in a older dodge diesel?? Like a 99 or 98?

  • @drummerdude667 why the hell would you take a cummins out? and put a detroit in its place???

  • This sounds friggin awesome!!! 5 stars!

  • wow we gotta give this guy some credit beautiful job man go spit some black smoke on those new pos diesel trucks lol!

  • What year is this Ford, early 70's? Also whats your engine/trans combo? Finally how hard was this swap, Ive got a '74 Chevy that Im thinking a 6V53 or a 12 Valve cummins would be badass with.

  • Still live the monster.

  • Beatiful truck! Nice clean re engine, best diesel around! Any thoughts on selling it?

  • HAHAHA How funny, a new Cummins was going by a :38. He was probably thinking, "WHAT THE CRAP???"

  • sounds bad ass

  • I hear a turbo.

  • Hello, from Spain. I just wanted to say that´s a beautiful noise

  • What an awesome sound. Can't get any better than that.

  • Fukn A Right doggie thats the shit im talking about. Bad ass 453T 2 stroke, it dont get any better than that... Just needs to be in a chevy. J.K.

  • What kind of t5 trans are you running and what is the axle ratio?

  • im drooling

  • Oh my that's all I can say oh my!!!!

  • oh fuck damn!

  • that is one nice soundin detroit

  • That sounds awsome, what transmission are you using?

  • Now this is what youtube is all about! Great stuff, engine swaps are a mechanics version of an artists expression.

  • I have a 453 ,in a 78ford,148hp at 2850,21 to 1 compression you can not put a turbo on the nseries,to much compression, the teacher that took of the blower was removing the turbo, the air box/supercharger is part of the ,engine has to be there or it wont run,go google and check on 2cycle engines ,it will show that the detroits have slites in the liners that how the air get s blown in by the air box/supercharger/blower-I also have a 453t -no turbo 17 to 1 compresson, runs fine without a turbo

  • than its just a 453... the t at the end stands for turbo, or are you saying you took it off for god knows what reason? i see you know youre detroits just wondering why you put t if theres no t

  • That is one clean looking engine bay. Great job fitting it in making it look like it belongs there.

  • That is bad ass

  • i think i just creamed myself

  • That bitch sounds bad ass!!! nice truck

  • Sounds incredible man. I do have doubts about turboing a natural motor though. Is it still doing well? Also, in your info you state it is a two valve. Did you meen two stroke or does that motor really have a two valve head instead of a four valve? Not that many 53's came with two valve heads to my knowledge except for very early models.

  • I saw the engine shot and it looks like an early two valve motor. Sounds so good going through the gears.

  • that is to cool

  • Nice.... very nice. Thanks for the ride.

  • you cant beat them detroits, they go good with any vehicle

  • sounds like a fuckin beast i wish they still offered the Detroit in the new trucks

  • 萌え☆

  • Yeah because i really said that. I'm sure this guy is fed up with these stupid commentson his videos

  • the engine sound is over mod'n the mic a bit. get some videos of casual driveing of this engine, nice work btw

  • Check out the guy below TRUCKRUSSELL: He got a bit upset about me commenting about how he was going on like a little bitch with some other freak So he's been stalking me on you tube. I just wished that he'd go and buy that cement latte i previously suggested. To answer your question truckrussel, no, i dont want you to fuck me in the ass :-)

  • Hey Man, that's the best sounding 4-53 I've heard. What injectors do you have in there? And what trans?

  • this might be a dumb question , but insince its a 2 stroke does it need expansion pipes ?

  • no expansion pipes, sorry.

  • no a two stroke diesel uses supercharges to force air into the cylinders all the expansion pipe does is creat a vacuume that sucks air into the cylinders

  • @quader94 no its not a dumb question if u dont now just ask...a 2 stroke diesel is not like a gas 2 stroke.. a 2 stroke diesel has valves and u dont mix oil in the diesel and it has a blower and turbo....well most have a turbo also

  • @quader94 No, It dose not need a expansion pipe. A naturally aspirated Detroit uses a roots supercharger to expel exhaust gases and supply the cylinder with fresh air. In a turbo version the supercharger is only used when the turbo is not supply enough boost once the turbo spools up it takes over, increasing the amount of air in the cylinder for more power. Then diesel is injected near the top of the stroke and ignites from the pressure.

  • @quader94 Diesel 2-strokes operate WAY differently than gasoline two strokes, so yeah no.

  • Sweet! Cant wait to see more...

  • Listen to those two fucken duchebags below arguing about trivial shit. Why dont you both go and order a cement latte and harden the fuck up

  • 2 cycle detroits with a blower only, are naturally aspirated. Only with a turbo does that change. There are differences internally to accomadate a turbo(s). I wish I could wedge a 8v71T we have sitting around into an old pickup. Now that would be a treat!

  • Super sweet truck. I'm currently instaling a 4-53N in a 93 350.

to go with what kblackav8or said, all 2 stroke detroits have a blower to push the exhaust out and fresh air in as there is no intake or exhaust stroke. They can run if you're lucky with out them, but like shit. They have a turbo as an option with a blower, if it's a 2 stroke detroit with a turbo, it will have a blower too. The blower on a detroit does not supercharge any thing.

  • nice truck, ive always wanted to swap a 6V53T into a old ford or chevy

  • WOW!!! AWESOME!!!!

  • Sweet ride man!!! what motor ya got in there 353 or the 453?

  • those detroits sound like there about to explode at 2 grand

  • You NEED to make more vids.

  • That looked like wolfskill rd & winters hwy.Cool truck, soundedgreat.

  • great video. I'd like to hear it crank (hehe)

  • That sounds great man is that the Supercharged 4 cylinder engine?

  • I think they are all supercharged

  • its turboed, them ol detroits could be naturally aspriated, turboed, supercharged, or both... if u look at his other vid it shoes the turbo..

  • actually, all detroit diesels (save for the series 60), need to be supercharged because they cannnot run on their own because they cannot pull enough vacuum

  • if thats the case how did they make N/A detroits? my boss has got a 6-71 n/a! it runs fine...

  • They call it N/A, but it is supercharged, they will not run with out one

  • man. u need 2 read ur facts....

how can a motor b supercharged with NO supercharger on it?!!! i know for a FACT that his truck is not supercharged its a PLAIN motor..

  • Yeah, whatever. Read my facts?, I think you need to find yourself some good reliable ones, everyone I've ever talked to says they need to be supercharged to run. Your the only person I've ever heard say they don't need it.

  • im not bein a dick man im jus sayin they don't have 2 b supercharged... i know this my boss has a 1980 gmc crackerbox with a 6-71 n/a 10 spd

    no turbo no supercharger

  • I'm not trying to be a dick either but I find it hard to believe that it runs with out it, and if it does that it runs OK. From my understanding the block has big holes in it that the blower cover and blowes the air through.

  • the one we had in school was a 6v92 and it was supercharged but our teacher took the blower off and put a regular intake on it. it ran fine, jus had to turn the fuel down on it.

  • Did it have any power?

  • compare it to like a ford 7.3 idi and a powerstroke.. or a gm 6.2 and a 6.5 turbo

  • I've never had anything to do with them, they about 150-200 horses? And if that's all they are then it dropped the power on a 6V92 about 150-200. That's why they are supposed to be blown.

  • it don't increase the power on them that much. only 50-75 hp with a supercharger 150-200 with a turbo and 200-250 with both... least thats what my teacher n college said but im not 100% sure on that.

  • Superchargers boost the power alot more than that. I'd say 150-200 hp with the super charger, 50-75 with the turbo

  • not as much as u think... on a gas engine yes but on a diesel no.. just my 2 pennies tho im not sure u mite b right gas engines need a good even mixture where diesels need a lil more air than fuel

  • impossible it has to have a blower or it will not run at all and if your teacher did that i would suggest to him to not teach anymore

  • god damn how is it possible 2 make a N/A detroit then,,,, search it up.. seriously they make them!!! or prove me wrong.

  • The blower is a blower, NOT a supercharger. It moves air basically at ambient pressure. The issue is that diesels do not create vacuum. They have no butterfly valve like a throttle body or carburetor to restrict airflow. It comes in as fast as it can get there. Detroits also do not have intake valves. The blower pushes the air into the cylinders with the piston at the bottom of the stroke through air ports. Air needs to be pushed in - by the blower.

  • i know how a diesel operates, and you are right about the intake ports at the bottom of the cylinder sleeve, BUT not ALL detroits have a blower or a turbo some are completely naturally asperated, this is coming from my teacher in college who worked at detroit diesel for 20 + years,

  • OK Detroit 4 strokes do not have a blower. All the 2 strokes do. The video depicts a 2 stroke detroit. And yes there were some early 4 stroke detroits - Toroflow and the 8.3, might be some other obscure engines. Until the Series 50/60 4 strokes most Detroits were 2 strokes.

  • man i know the difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke im not a complete dipshit but if you go on here and look at detroit 353 oliver tractors and i do not see the "blower" bolted to anything i jus see a motor.

  • All 2 stroke diesels have a blower... I don't care what your shop teacher said

  • some detroits have a turbo on the roots blower not sure which one though i just know that they're a 6v...something

  • We got a 6v92 with a turbo and supercharger on it sounds great

  • Don't know where the Idea was that a blower and a supercharger aren't the same thing because they are although they may vary in different outputs regarding volume and pressure and efficiency and performance but what your saying is like saying a manual isn't a manual its a stick shift...it's the same god damn thing

  • They have to have a blower, thats the "intake valve" so to speak, we had a 6v53 and a 671 both non turbo, the spline stripped on the blower drive on both, the engine shut off just like you cut the fuel. They just won't run, period.

  • I think you'll find the 671 has a turbo. 2 stroke detroits are not like other engines, a supercharger it a totaly nessicary part of them, and they won't work without. 2 stroke diesels are cunsidered naturally asparated unless turboed.

  • i got a pic of a 6-71 without a turbo... gimme ur e-mail address and il show you

  • We have a 1987 model in a Franklin skidder with the blower but no turbo, rated 230 hp

  • There were a lot of 6/71's made without turbo's. Turbo's didn't show up on Detroits until the 70's. The majority of Detroit 2 strokes made over the years never had turbo's.

  • Because the "supercharger" is used for the scavenging cycle, that blower needs to exsist otherwise the motor is left without any power. There is no suction from the piston, therefore, will not run.

Think about it, no pressure difference from intake to exhaust = no air circulation = no power.

  • That sounds really nice!!

  • Sounds awesome! I wish my car could fit one under the hood :P

  • quite cool

  • sick !!! i want it

  • Wow all I can say is that is just simply awesome! I have the same question, what transmission did you use in this swap? Top notch!

  • Hey great build what transmission did you use??. I counted at least 5-speeds. unless you have a 2-speed aux??

  • i love that truck! i dont like fords but that is nice
