i like the scenary you get to see when flying. some people say that you don't really see much but the fact is you do see stuff just in less detail. the flights over the canadian rockies are proof that you do see stuff in detail whilst flying. i thought seeing the canaidan rockies from the flight to vancouver was in some ways actually better than seeing them on the ground. it just goes to show that seeing stuff from high altitude can still be scerenic
this aircraft stops with ease without even using reverse thrust and doesn't even have to brake that heavily. perhaps its better for the engines to not use reverse thrust. i was on a flight to heathrow and they didnt bother using reverse thrust. not that its a big deal but you just notice these things.
do flights from toronto to vancouver always remain in canadian airspace? Do they ever fly via usa airspace on air canada. I'm asuming they probably would not
@SkyWestCRJPilot I probably should have used a bit more modern of a comparison....how about an Boeing 747-400? Or a Boeing 767? At any rate, all I'm trying to say is that the jetliners of today are INCREDIBLY quieter than the jets of even as recent as twenty to thirty years ago.
@WildPilot300,I just found out that you're friends with Jon5700,WOW,you are a faggot, thanx to fucks like you I had to remove Jon5700 from my friends list, but that asshole subscribed to me and he had all the nerve to do that,so both of you faggots go fuck yourselves!!
have they enabled the in flight airshow yet? Its really anoying everytime it says feature not availible. over a year and it still wasnt enabled. Must be due to cost
the aircraft have so much braking power they hardly need reverse thrust. Is it better for the engines to not use reverse thrust to rpevent debris getting into the engine
Beautiful landing. This must not have been long before T2 was torn down (the older looking terminal in the first half of the video). Can't wait to fly on ACA's T7
WHo gives a dam about the engines. As long as they work. This is the least customer oriented airline in the world, learned form 25 yrs of flying. I avoid them whenever possible. And good luck getting your money back when they cancel a flight on you.
We do, that's why we're watching this video in the first place. What the hell does your comment have to do with anything? Go fly Westjet if you are so unhappy.
Reverse thrust WAS used, but it was at idle. It is not either "on or off" but another set of levers operated like the throttles. BTW, I have flown Air Canada's 77W's twice and 77L's twice as well and I can tell you they have the loudest reverse thrust of any plane I've ever been on. Air Canada told its pilots last year to use breaks when possible instead because replacing break pads from wear is cheaper than the fuel required to spin up those monsters.(At the time, fuel costs were HIGH).
no, no, trust me it was applied. when the panel opens it is because the pilots (such as me) pull the reverse thrust throttle and it engadges the reverser. :) the 777 is a great airplane!!
If you wanna here noisy listen to a DC-9 in full reverse or a unhushed 727 in full reverse. You can feel it in your chest, something you dont see very much of anymore
It's amazing how an engine so big and powerful can be so quiet when thrust reversers are deployed. Compare it to a DC-9 and those little fucker engines are deafening compared to this. We've come a long way in less than 110 years of aviation my friends.
@jetfreak4 I think it's because of how the engines work. Rather than expelling "small" volumes of air at high velocity, these high-bypass engines expel larger volumes of air at a lesser (or same) velocity (hence the name).
Gotta replace brakes if they get used too hard, gotta pay for the gas you use in full power reverse... why not just use as much of the runway as you can to slow down? Less maintenance, less gas, more savings to the passenger.
Why Air Canada use the new 777 or 767 for connect Toronto to Montreal? because a lot of passenger? I wanted try the 777 but I didn't find it between London and Toronto Only a330 nice too
acd784, are you sure about that? I thought that they shared the RB211-524 engines which are also found on the 767. The 757-200's have the -535E4 series of the 211, which is different. This info is coming from a info card on boeings that was published in 1995.

the reverse thrust was applied but not fully
often used when aircraft are given permission to run out the length of the runway therefore the required deceleration is much less
towerofvenice 3 years ago 4
im going on one of these in july 09 from LHR to YYZ
redsunset6 3 years ago 2
Probably they didn't applied reverse thrust because Air Canada has gate near the ending of the rwy.

they did use reverse thrust that is the panel that opened at 32 seconds.

I know what is reverse thrust and Yes, I can see it, but i can't hear it. They opened it, but didn't applied.

some aeroplanes have very quiet reverse thrust. my 777 had a almost scilent reverse thrust.
splatty123 3 years ago
Are you a pilot?
mcnitrox 3 years ago
I guess 777 has no scilent reverse thrust. Anyway Air France 777 have very noisy reverse thrust.
fernousdu972 2 years ago
No... it depends on the pilot, and the engine equipped. Sometimes full reverse isn't necessary.

Some B744 have RR RB211 engines, shared with most B757-200 still flying. B744 can also come with P&W or GE engines. Try WIKIPEDIA
