@gabe940 'sounds like' and 'trying to imitate' are two different things. you should pick up a copy of his album 'use your voice'. there's a short letter to the listener inside the album talking about how to and what it means to find your voice. mason jennings is the most unique singer/writer of our generation. ...you won't be disappointed.

Somebody dropped Mason Jennings on me in 2000. Halfway through song 3 on the disc, I remember shouting at the top of my lungs, "Who the hell is this guy?" I've been a fan since, and it is about damn time he is breaking through. I truly think his political stance on "Birds Flying Away" blackballed his music from mainstream radio.
