Just a little bit of information, the United States do not have an official language; the de facto language is English, but there is no sentence in our Constitution stating that English is the official language in this country.On the other hand, in Mexico are a lot of people who do not speak spanish, and even though Spanish is the official language in the country, the department of public education translates every single textbook used in public schools to those particular dialects.

The problem though is people in general want drugs (from tobacco to coffee to cocaine, whatever), and goverments have to accept that people should be able to consume drugs if they want . Freedom of drug use is as necessary as freedom of speech or as freedom of choosing a religion, etc. Thats Mexico and US challenge ahead. They have to legalize drugs with certain limitations within the laws. Drug prohibition is a monster, thats the issue.

I totally agree with the Harvard student, we ask for something that we're not giving. Thing is, a very important percentage of the Mexican GDP is made up by remittances sent by Mexicans from the US. Economically, migration to fhe US is great for the Mexican economy as a whole, although of course it's a sign of economical problems in the country. Now one of the main reasons of migration is because of the insecurity, and not economic well-being, you can see wealthy businessmen leaving out of fear.

The scary thing is that Mexico have an abundance of Natural Resources. The richest man in the world according to Forbes magazine lives in Mexico(Carlos Slim Helu with $60 billion). They get about $ 20 billion aid from the U.S. and their Natural Resources include precious metals, oil, gold, copper, silver and natural gas. Just a little bit of information, the United States do not have an official language; the de facto language is English, but there is no sentence in our Constitution stating that English is the official language in this country.On the other hand, in Mexico are a lot of people who do not speak spanish, and even though Spanish is the official language in the country, the department of public education translates every single textbook used in public schools to those particular dialects.

Let me ask you this, if Chinese or Korean students in Mexico ask the government to translate the textbooks into Chinese and Korean, will the Mexican government be willing to do so? I THINK NOT. I didn' wanted to pay what they wanted and once they almost killed me. One day, I couldn't believe it: I watched on TV that the people that were bother me in my store were catched by the Feds. The unemployement has reached record numbers but most of the budget goes to the government itself and the war against drugs. Senators live like rockstars while the average people drowns in taxes.

@eldar600 ...i am no expert on drugs trafficking, but the cartels will never loose power while americans pay them millions of dollars so they can consume all the drugs they want. Of course cartels are backed up by americans and US goverment. And US goverment can only prohibit drugs a little, just to save face. But US gov. allows american citizens to consume drugs to keep them happy. Cartels are more powerful than ever The fact is people want drugs, no matter what and who is going to stop that?

The problem though is people in general want drugs (from tobacco to coffee to cocaine, whatever), and goverments have to accept that people should be able to consume drugs if they want . Freedom of drug use is as necessary as freedom of speech or as freedom of choosing a religion, etc. Thats Mexico and US challenge ahead. They have to legalize drugs with certain limitations within the laws. Drug prohibition is a monster, thats the issue.

I totally agree with the Harvard student, we ask for something that we're not giving. Thing is, a very important percentage of the Mexican GDP is made up by remittances sent by Mexicans from the US. Economically, migration to fhe US is great for the Mexican economy as a whole, although of course it's a sign of economical problems in the country. Now one of the main reasons of migration is because of the insecurity, and not economic well-being, you can see wealthy businessmen leaving out of fear.

The scary thing is that Mexico have an abundance of Natural Resources. The richest man in the world according to Forbes magazine lives in Mexico(Carlos Slim Helu with $60 billion). They get about $ 20 billion aid from the U.S. and their Natural Resources include precious metals, oil, gold, copper, silver and natural gas. It is the sixth largest producer of oil in the world and yet the country is a cesspool of corruption, violence, drug trafficking, unemplyment and underemployment.

The thing the USA should do is to invade & take over Mexico completely, this processes should take an afternoon.
After that, the US would set up a 2 tier society. On the top tier would be all the original US citizens & the 1% or so Mexican citizens that rule & currently control Mexico. The rest of the population, the peasants would be in the 2nd tier- strictly the labor class. Drug cartel lords would be either killed or made to work for the new USA which included Mexico.
