if anyone had a clue about basketball he was telling (or demonstrating to) him to slap at the ball (make a play on the ball). Nothing wrong with this at all. My coach got out football blocking pads and hit us all the time to get us used to contact in the paint.

Heck, the kid stuck his right hand forward. Merriweather should have gotten knock the f... out for making such a bonehead pass and leaving his feet with a minute left in the game. The kid was clearly rattled. It looks like Coach Martin needed to wake him up.  There is nothing wrong with what was just done. Some of you guys must have NEVER played competitive sports at a high level.
