This may be an amateur question, but when you do some of the one handed tapping, is the right hand at the bottom of the neck just to reduce split notes?

@Jowceph If you're talking about when he takes his right hand towards the nut of the neck at 1:34 then no, thats not reducing split notes. That style is typically used for a "capo" if you will. He's making a quick bar across the 4th fret so he can pull off to the 4th fret being the open string. Tell me if that helps you.
