  • "Ron, did you fall off a turban truck?" -Don Cherry

  • People hate him but he knows his hockey

  • This video was mentioned on the FAN590 in Toronto today ahaha

  • bullshit about Europeans again, you canadian are real racist hypocrits

  • Ovie and Malkin couldn't speak or read english when they moved halfway across the globe. But our buddy Lindros was afraid of moving 300 miles away from home to the mysterious country of Canada - Where theres two official languages Bahaha!

You still won your team the cup, too bad you didn't get a ring. Hopefully you'll get the recognition you deserve and never make the HHOF.

  • When Quebec finally did trade Lindros at the '92 draft, he was accidently traded to both the Flyers and Rangers. The Rangers offered, along with cash and draft picks, Alexei Kovalev, Doug Weight, Tony Amonte, and John Vanbiesbrouck. The trade that the arbitrator decided on was the Flyers', which had Kerry Huffman, Steve Duchesne, Ron Hextall, Peter Forsberg, Mike Ricci, Chris Simon, cash, and draft picks. Either way, it seems lopsided to me.

  • @bluebear1985 supposedly Bertuzzi (arbitrator) decided that ,since the Nordiques GM gave the Flyers OK on the deal and solidified it by giving them Eric's number and actually talking to him gave way for that decision because Quebec did not let any other team talk to E only after a deal was made and contact was made (clause ?)

  • 'the french dont want to come, the english dont want to come, the only thing left is the swedes.'

don, if you only knew how right you were on multiple fronts in this clip.

  • love how he dissed Mclean at 4:15

  • quebec destoryed phily in that trade

  • back when the jays were good..

  • What a douche that Cherry, doesnt even know hockey. Especially at 1:45. "Europeans never beat Canada or the United States at hockey". In 1991 the Soviet Union had won like 10 gold medals in the last 12 years...

  • Lindros is a fag.... but Don Cherry is a f****** a******** really...... it's not better in 2012. Dumb dumb dumb 2.35 .... you talking about you.... haaa you're right for the first time.. you redneck mother f*****

  • don cherry is right......if lindros wasn't injured...he would have easily been a hall of famer....

  • @rockbottom2010 no cups no glory. most times. Lindros is no exception.

  • "The only ones who'll go to Quebec are the Swedes". Yeah, Don, Quebec gets Peter Forsberg plus 15 million dollars and a couple first round draft picks. Not a bad Swede... ended up being one of the best all round players the league has ever had. Even if if was a straight one for one trade, Quebec still won the trade.

  • @hofifut How many cups did Quebec win again???

  • @smudent2010

In the first year after the trade, Quebec made the playoffs for the first time in 6 years. Two years later, they won their division, and finished 2nd in the regular season. While they performed well on the ice, they had financial problems, and moved to Colorado. Since then, they've won 2 Cups, and won 8 Division Championships. Check Forsberg's record. Check Lindros's record

So, tell me, who won the trade? Better yet, what did Philadelphia do?

    **Crickets**

  • Don Cherry bashing Pierre McGuire back then, gotta love the fact that Cherry was bashing that idiot back then

  • Cherry was right on about Lindros. Wasn't near a Gretzky or Lemeiux. More of a Messier type without as much leadership ability.

  • Yep, only the Swedes. Lindros was a bust. Sakic will go in the Hall 1st ballot, Forsberg helped Colorado, but he was a weasel. Only the Swedes. Grapes was right

  • Lindros?? Lindros who??

wasnt he the tuff kid who hit everybody in site, THEN Scott Stevens hammered him and did him in HAHA..

talk about dishing it out and cant take it!

  • @WPGinterceptor Lindros was a great player, better than you will ever be

  • @evilTaker90 Yeah but I can take a hit!

  • @WPGinterceptor To the head?A guy like Stevens hits you to the head? And you can take it?Lets see you try.

  • @evilTaker90 You mad bro??

  • @WPGinterceptor I just told you a fact

  • @evilTaker90

Actually a fact would be, Ive played PRO hockey. I dont need to prove anything to you other than your just a mouth on here!

Lindros was a guy who dished out hits and make a big statement on that.. BUT he couldnt take em AND THATS A FACT!!

    nuff said

  • @evilTaker90

everybody search youtube for "1999-00 Round 3/Game 7: Scott Stevens Hits Eric Lindros"

tell me Lindros wasnt rocked in his own world by a Smaller Scott Stevens hahahaha

I also remember when Lindros body checked a girl at a bar and got arrested!! LOOOSER!!

  • The suit. Where's the flowers? The odd patterns?

  • lol, bloody racist. Nothing new there. Québec?? Dumb, dumb, dumb. Just take what they'll give you and trade a franchise player to make the playoffs once or twice. Shit logic, whats behind the shit logic? Racism. He's 18 and cant read the road signs. Thats a professionnal athlete? Not sure Cristiano Ronaldo could read the road signs in Manchester, let alone drive on the left side of the road.

  • man its been 20 years? I remeber this being big news.

  • What a jackass. He's like the Rush Limbaugh of hockey.

  • lol cherry has hair or a stem

  • The first Jays fitted LOOL

  • LOL, he nailed it!

  • I don't think Don Cherry ever nailed one on the head as accurate as this...holy crap, from start to finish, he listed where he'd end up in all time talent, etc, etc, etc. don't care about earlier comments, i think Grapes nailed this one to the wall

  • Forsberg just shoved his Stanley Cups up both Cherry and Lindros asses.

  • Lindros is the biggest douche in NHL history. He thought he was a legend before he ever stepped on NHL ice. Jokes on him though because the Nordiques traded him for a lot of good players, one of them being Forsberg who is better than Lindros straight up. When they became the Avalanche they won the cup because of this trade (and the Roy trade). Gretzky was the best player ever, but he would never say he is and act like he is more powerful than the league because he had class. Lindros had none.

  • @PlayStationMan55 Bobby Orr was the best ever.

  • @TheHockeyCentral Orr was also a one of the best and he also was a classy player. My point is that Gretzky or Orr were legends, but they would never act like they are bigger than the league because of it. Lindros thought he was a legend before he even played in the league and get what ever he wanted because of it.

  • @PlayStationMan55 Totally agree!! Well said!

  • "So the French don't want to come, and the English don't want to come. The only thing left is the Swedes."

Hahaha classic crazy Don. That Swedes thing seemed to work out pretty well for them (Forsberg).

  • "Ron, did you fall off a turban truck?" Classic!

  • this was when don was at his best... now he's senile

  • classic cherry ahah

  • He's actually wearing a fairly normal suit here. I wonder when he transitioned into crazy suits.

  • @somewhatlongdong wen decided to like dick in the butt

  • @iammewhoami haha

  • Comment removed

  • @gunner525 Fuck you.

  • @gunner525 Not going to Quebec because of French-Canadians is even worse. People doing shit like this is the reason our country nearly got torn in half twice. I am English-Canadian and I have nothing against French-Canadians. Lindros thought he was more powerful than the league before he was even in the league. His attitude was the reason he never lived up to his hype and finished his career as a 3rd line nobody. I hope he goes bankrupt and ends up working at McDonalds.

  • @PlayStationMan55 Quiefbec sucks balls! Bunch of cowards! I would not play there either! Fuck the French!

  • @gunner525 Speak the truth Brother! Fuck Queifbec! Fuck the frog province!

  • @maestroxo You moron Gretzky was already a member of the Oilers when they were still part of the WHL. When they merged with the NHL he was already an Oiler, Gretzky wasnt even drafted in the NHL. lol.

  • @GSR187 ...ya i've since read up on his debut....i was wrong. and if you are from new brunswick, i'd like to meet you and brush up on hockey history. i'll travel....get back to me

  • @GSR187 You are a moron. It was the WHA. Get your facts together before you get in someones grill!

  • @GSR187 True and that's why he nerver won the Calder Trophy (Best rookie in NHL)

  • Swedes indeed. Enter > Foppa.

  • Fuck Cherry

  • @BasementBird fuck you

  • @BasementBird Fuck you!

  • @arniepearson lol look at you english-speaking canadians, getting all mad and shit. see if I care...

You're not helping yourself here, I'm starting to think that all of you look and talk like that dumbass Don Cherry.

  • Quebec was stacked.

  • the only thing left is the swedes haha...gotta love them swedes

  • Although I'm the biggest Pens fan in the world, I will admit that I loved the Kasparaitis hit. However, Lindros had THE BEST "SNAP" SHOT I've seen. Very hard and he was reckless. Most people hate him cuz he didn't go to Quebec but as we see now with Crosby, CONCUSSIONS are a MAJOR, MAJOR injury. Feel bad for the man in a way... Even though he's a millionaire! LGP

  • "The only thing left is the swedes" Talk about foreshadowing

  • @3:15 - Vintage Don Cherry.

  • Tough as Messier. LOL

  • Wow I'd love to hear what Ron actually wants to say. He's so much smarter than Don will ever be.

  • hahaha, did you fall off a turnip truck? LMFAO

  • @prostockgear in Don's messed up way of talking, he actually said "turban truck" :D

  • @djob2676 SHIT......thats even better!!!!!lol

  • @djob2676 yeah i got finally,after listening to it a few times

  • LOL, you can read Ron's lips right when he was trying to make a pun out of "turnip truck" 4:03

  • Ron Maclean is great at what he does.

  • TAYLOR GANG OR DON CHERRY

  • lol they did go for a swede

  • @TimBangsies SUNDIN

  • u know what's funny, when do u see don in a pin strip suit anymore???maybe they should bring up a photo from 91' like they did in this video .

  • A-lot of people are not aware of this, but the Flyers first game in Quebec the Nords fans threw tons of pacifiers on the ice for every time he had a shift.

Karma found Eric eventually, zero cups won and he had his bell rung more then the Vatican's.

  • 20 years later and Don is still mad when anyone suggests any other country is good at hockey, haha. I don't think we could win with our B team anymore but the Canada Cups were on N. American ice so it was helpful.

  • its funny that he said the only person who wants to come here is the sweeds and the big person in that trade did end up being sweedish

  • fuck he is awesome

  • Tokyo, figure that one out! hahahaha

  • HAHAHAHAHA gotta love cherry

  • Funny. They ended up trading him, made the playoffs and won the Cup. Don Cherry can see the future...

  • You know this is old when they Jay's are doing well.

  • @MatthewDiakoumeas Jays are doin pretty good right now ...........

  • Grapes for Prime Minister!

  • I'd take Forsberg over Lindros any day

  • @FTJFuelTheJet I guess you don't like ever scoring more than 30 goals in a season.

  • @EricLindros As long as your putting up point who cares goals vs assists? You can check the points per game if you want. Or maybe the career achievments?

  • @FTJFuelTheJet ... Not over a healthy Lindros.

  • @FTJFuelTheJet So would the Hall

  • @FTJFuelTheJet When Lindros was healthy, HE DOMINATED LIKE CRAZY. He DOMINATED physically, he DOMINATED offessively. He was a train on ice. Foresberg is damn amazing too, but Lindros was just unstoppable when he was healthy, which was the problem.

  • @FTJFuelTheJet no concussions, you wouldnt

  • @FTJFuelTheJet

The only reason Forsberg won two cups with Colorado was because he had Joe Sakic, Adam Foote, Patrick Roy, and Rob Blake, all hall of famers it's a team game. The Legion of Doom line had great chemistry and the Flyers also had Hextall but other than that they really had nothing else.

  • @MrBrostradamus the bottom line is they where pretty comparable players in the late 90's but Forsberg was still considered the best player in the NHL beyond the 2000's while Lindros was below a point a game

  • @MrBrostradamus Yeah Forsberg being a fucking amazing player certainly didn't help Colorado.

  • @mjonas10

I didn't say he wasn't good I'm just saying team wise he was a lot better off with Colorado then Lindros was in Philadelphia.

  • @FTJFuelTheJet thats cause your a fuckin pussy that should go fuck his mother in the ass

  • @crazyrussianbastard1 easier there tough guy.

  • @FTJFuelTheJet Prime Lindros> Prime forsberg

  • @TheGamegangsta2

yup..forsberg was great but could not dominate a game like Lindros could when he was on. What could have been...

  • @FTJFuelTheJet

Lindros in his prime is the choice

  • it seems weird seeing Cherry not wearing something outrageous..Imagine if Lindros was on those good Avalanche teams

  • @arcassells

It was the Lindros trade that gave the Nordiques many of those important pieces to begin with though. Forsberg, Ricci, and Simon were all vital parts of the 1996 Cup winning team.

  • it seems weird seeing Cherry not wearing something outrageous...

  • HEY RON DID U FALL OFF A TURBAN TRUCK?

  • yea the nordique trade the kid after the flyers waste so much money and thay win nothing and colorado win the cup big thank you to scott steven to send lindros in hell

  • lindros was a fuckin bum, gave the nhl a bad name and cost them a great team

  • Unlike what Don Cherry thought back then, the Quebec Nordiques weren't dumb at all - they traded Eric Lindros to the Philadelphia Flyers against Peter Forsberg, Steve Duchesne, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, Chris Simon, Ron Hextall, two first round draft picks (one in 1993 and the other one in 1994) plus $15M. Ironically enough, Lindros would never become the big NHL star he was supposed to be...

  • @Magnanime30 Yes the Nordiques got a good package in return, btu Lindros definitelt was a star. In the first few years he played with Philly, there wasnt a single team/player in the league who could stop him. He was unlike any player ever seen. His career lacked longevity, but if he didnt have those concussion problems he would be first ballot HHOF for sure

  • @Magnanime30 Actually Grapes called it, he said "the only thing left is the Swede's" (Forsberg), but you are right that the Nordiques weren't dumb, this trade alone turned out to be a huge part of two Stanley Cups for the Avalanche. Forsberg, Ricci, and Deadmarsh (1993 1st rd pick) where key members of those cup winning teams.

  • @Magnanime30

"Lindros would never become the big NHL star he was supposed".

Stupid people like you shouldn't be posting opinions. Have you even seen his stats from 1992 to 2000? He had absolutely monster numbers...among the highest points per game ratios in NHL history, until the concussions started with the Scott Stevens hit.

  • @leafyutube I knew there would be, sooner or later, an emotional hockey fan that would overreact to this posting, and it happens to be you. True, Lindros was a good player, but he didn't have on hockey the same impact as, say, Orr, Howe, Gretzky or Lemieux (unlike what many people thought in the early 90s). In short, he was overevaluated. And if you don't believe me, think of what the Flyers gave for his services and got in return!

  • @Magnanime30

You said he "never become the big NHL star he was supposed" which is complete 100% baloney. He had one of the highest points per game ratios in NHL history until the concussions started. Stop posting bullshit!!!

  • @leafyutube Did Lindros as a player change the NHL the way, for instance, Orr, Howe, Gretzky or Lemieux did? Nope! Too bad if you don't like it, but it's a fact. Stop trying to insult people who don't share your views.

  • @Magnanime30 sure he did, he was one of the very very very few players to have top notch skills, as well as the size and checking ability. The kid was 6'4 230 pounds, show me one player that was that big and could score like lindros. At the time when he was playing, there was no one, thats what made him special, and he changed the game of hockey by combining skill with size. Now in the NHL there are people who are big like lindros and can score like him too, and they are the players teams want.

  • @Kipperluongo Mario Lemieux was 6'4'', 235 lb, a wonderful scorer & a player that could defend himself as well. Therefore, the NHL already had a player that could both score goals and, if need be, play physical.

  • @Magnanime30 Let me re phrase myself because i look back at my comment and i misspoke. What NHL player at the time of when Lindros came into the nhl could score, hit and fight like Lindros? No one. Mario was an amazing player, arguably better than gretzky, but he was soft as butter when it came to hitting and fighting, lindros would always be hitting people and scoring goals. He also fought a lot something Mario did not do. My point being, Lindros changed the game of hockey for the better.

  • @Kipperluongo To your first question, I answer Mark Messier.

Second, unlike what you believe, Lemieux wasn't a softie in terms of hitting/fighting. The man could defend himself (as shown by some videos on Youtube).

Third, despite all his qualities, Lindros was nonetheless an overrated player, as people - notably the Flyers management, who made with the Nords what turned out to be one of the worst NHL transactions ever (please see my very first comment here) - thought he'd be “the next one”.

  • @Magnanime30 You aren't understanding what I am saying. I don't care whether or not lemieux could "defend himself" it's about him being physical all of the times like Lindros, and he wasn't even close. Secondly mark messier was not as big or as tall as lindros, didn't fight as much as lindros. He was better than a point per game player plus adding all of those physical elements to his arsenal, made him dominant. He did change the game of hockey, and i agree he was a little to hyped up.

  • @Kipperluongo Look, I respect your opinion and the way you expressed it, but I maintain mine: Lindros was projected to play at one level of play and did not achieve it. He fell just short. This guy was going to be better than Lemieux and Gretzky, according to a lot of the experts. Would he have achieved it if he did not get injured? Maybe, but who knows. He did not achieve the level of play that all hockey scouts said he should. Period.

  • @Magnanime30 aside from the injuries, Lindros could not score as much as Gretzky, Lemieux, etc even if he was better than them, because scoring overall in the NHL was declining drastically by the mid-1990s thanks to the neutral zone trap, over-sized goalie pads, bigger players, etc.

  • @lakeerie90s I don't think so. The mid-1990s context you refer to never prevented other players – like Jaromir Jagr, Teemu Selanne or Pavel Bure – from scoring plenty of goals in a season. Talent, too, matters here and in that respect, Lindros was clearly hyped up. He was never ahead of the game like Orr, Gretzky or Lemieux.

  • @leafyutube It actually didn't start with the Stevens hit--I think it was Kasparaitis in the regular season. Lindros was out of action for a while and the Stevens hit came in his 2nd game back after missing like 2 months.

  • BOYCOTT MOORES AND GET THE BIGOT DON CHERRY OFF THE AIR.

    Do it for the kids!!!

  • hmmm, only thing left is the sweeds eh? foppa!!!
