why is there so much latency on a lot of the sony cameras on youtube? Is it the camera or is it because they've been uploaded on here etc. does the sony XR500 and XR520 lag even when played from the hard drive or through a HD TV?
It's You Tube mate or maybe the internet itself. Make sure that your Video Card can play HD and at least you have a broadband Internet connection I got Verizon FIOS here in the US and i don't have problems playing HD videos even if it is on the 1080P mode. My video card Nvidia Quadro FX 1800, CPU intel i5 quad core with 8 GB memory.
Cheers for the reply angeloarco. I'm using a new macbook pro, so it's must be my internet, the picture qualitity is superb but the motion and latency is just terrible.
SONY HDR XR 520 V has a Slow Motion Effects should i say superb Slow motion you can use with weddings family fun etc BUILT IN so you dont need your video editing software to slow the speed of your footage thus eliminating the quirky lag of the software. Im thinking of posting slow motion effects soon.
I have panasonic HDC-HS25 100Gb, payed 550euro and I so desipointed, low light video is pure shit, even at night time i turn on light in the rum with 3 40watt bulbs and the quality turns into webcam quality, now i try to sell it and buy a sony the one you have, i think this money will worth it
You're right and the price of this Sony camera is worth it. It's HD 1080i the standard of USA Television Broadcast and got the low light setting that works. Even the standard setting works great at night
Crap and I wasted my money on a Vivitar.

I have the HDR-XR500VE, it is an awesome camera.
E=Europe, so it's 1080i50, not i60 which means no 3:2 pull-up tricks here :(
The only difference between the XR500 and XR520 is that the XR520 have twice the HDD capacity (240GB)
