  • Possibly the only video I can thoroughly enjoy in all its 240p-ness

  • Apparently you can listen to more shitty music like this if you go to an Intern-net site called : eye-tunes.

  • shake.shake.it.downtown.

  • I. am. in. love. with. this. band! This song is my favorite right now!

  • I had no idea it was a guy X__X Kinda like The Mars Volta with my gender confusion.

  • @iBolt07 lol I know how you feel.

  • @scotydo1 i'm 38..i have and will always love this band. If anything, they are as old school as new school. Completely awesome, great sonics, and amazing production, avant garde skill, smart as all hell. this is far from pop. It's straight dope.

  • the drum beat is so catchy :) Future Perfect is one of my favorite albums of all time

  • i do like bitter old guys who think their generation of music was the best deluding themselves that older people back then wasn't doing the same as they are now. because the older generation just didn't 'get' their music and the current one makes shit music.

  • fukk this guys dope me with that musicc..yeah autoluxxx up

  • Just close your eyes, follow the beat and go with the flow. Goosebumps through my spine.....

  • That drummer is really good. You can see she has a natural sense of rhythm. It just seems to come so easily to her. Great band!!:)

  • @roanred555 You should've seen her in her drum corps days...one HELL of a snare drummer (as befits someone who played in a Tom Float line and won the drum title in 84

  • The way the drums lead this song reminds me of Black Gold by Detroit. Very different tempo and melody, but the same sort of effect in the arrangement.

  • Ha ha! This is POP music for the kids! Bubble Gum at best! It is no surprise to me that teeny boppers like this. They all jump on a bandwagon just to be included. I did it when I was young too! Big ups to the record producers for picking the right one to go with.

To all of you young people who think that you are REALLY expressing yourself......

All I have to say is...... Enjoy the fact that you have no responsibilities and stay in school! What kind of music you like is INCONSEQUENTIAL in life!

  • @scotydo1 what do you listen too. talking smack about a song but wont post your bands??? im interested to hear what a music expert listens to.

  • @KadaveRRoT I guess you missed my point! Go back and read what I said.

  • @KadaveRRoT I am no expert. I have no band. But, if you must know I am big Jimi Hendrix fan. James Taylor.

I also love Punk. And Jazz as well. I'm not sure why I even need to tell you what I like. Hey I don't like Autolux!

FUCK OFF IF YOU DON'T AGREE WITH ME! It's my opinion.

  • @scotydo1 dude seriously, you reply back and then you reply again 3 weeks later. late a fuck... hahaha... don't get your chonies in a bunch. i don't like autolux either i just don't like critics who go on pages and talk shit about bands. if you don't work for the Rolling stones then leave your dumb ass i think i know music comments to your self. simple as that... but curios what punk do you listen too. hahaha. im all punk bro. everything from circle jerks, backside, the casualtys to "early" AFI.

  • @scotydo1 You sound bitter. If your claim to self-expression is just being the 'old guy', then you should find a more creative outlet for yourself than critiquing the youth movement for their musical tastes. Just enjoy this for what it is. That's what everyone else is doing.

  • @scotydo1

Well, that was certainly cynical. Too bad that you've lost the fun in music.

  • I literally got 10 seconds into this song and fell in love with this band that I'd never heard of until 5 minutes ago.

  • 'The air i breathe' brought me here :)

  • sicccccccccccccccccccccccck drumming - from a drummer

  • I got turned on to this song today because this video was posted on Michelle Branch's website by Michelle herself. This is great. Thanks Michelle for turning me on to one of your favorites.

  • I can't stop listening to this!

  • Was Carla really born in 1987 (it says so on her wiki)? I'm 20, so that means she's now 24. Think about that for a minute, she joined Autolux in 2000. That means she was 13 at the time. Someone tell me what's going on.

  • @alexsweeley Wikipedia is lying to you. Ednaswap (her first band) was around in the mid-90's so she would've joined when she was like 7. She's a good drummer and all but not that good...

  • @gregnegative

"Lying"? A bit exaggerated wouldn't you say.

Mistaken or mis-informed is most likely and not likely intentional.

  • where do i know this from...damnit

  • @LoveLovesBeingHated

    deep down in your soul

  • I got to see them live long ago and it is still one of my best shows ever seen.

  • I hate myself for not remembering how to play this.

  • Criminally under-rated band

  • SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE THE CLOUDS

    Goosebumps everytime

  • I sample this so much in my own songs, those drums are so awesome

  • Fun fact, some of the guys who were in Failure did a few projecst with ex Tool bassist Paul De Amour. Those people are now in Autolux.

    Small world?

  • this song sounds so much like booksmart devil by silversun pickups

  • @erinvanhem cept autolux was before their time (:

  • is the vocalist a lesbian?

  • needs a tutorial...

    plzzzzzzzzzz

  • Why isn't this up in better quality?

  • Wow, I think I found a new top 5 band. Not to mention my two favorite artists, trent and maynard like them. Sweet shit.

  • Strange feelin' 1srt time I heard the song, that was my style of playing drums !

Thanks MTV2 for the good stuff by the way

  • Are they still together?

  • @Notus just saw them last night at the Casbah in San Diego.

  • dat traditional grip

  • I saw these guys live with Nine Inch Nails a few years back. Good stuff. Their drummer was using like...mutilated dolls as drum sticks. It was wicked.

  • Good song, but the drumming reminds me so much of Talk Show Host by Radiohead... which is the best part of this song

  • Saw them at Johnny brenda's twice. They are amazing live.

  • female drummer is hot

  • @IgniteTheProphecy

    main vocals/bass - eugene A DUDE.

    guitar/vocals - greg

drums/vocals - carla azar the love of my life<33333

  • First time I've head them, they are pretty good!

  • Autolux will be known soon. However, I selfishly hope they never get big. It always kills the sound, and what a psychedelic l.a. post punk, delicious sound they have.

As someone so perfectly put it here, they are the shiznit.

  • I can't be certain but this might just be the most hipstery band ever. Scum of the earth.

  • Nah, shes hot. And i love the fact she play traditional.

  • this band is too good for them to be not known

  • autolux is the fucking SHIT! carla azar makes me randy.

  • damn! ran across these guys in a queens of the stone age forum, and glad i found them. good new music!

  • I love the guitar at 1:04 !!!

  • that beat just takes me away!! this is one of the best bands i have heard lattely...

If i should recommand any other bands kind of simular try to check out kiss me scarlett... with the song mad man..

  • Cool band! They must be in love with Sennheiser MD441's.

  • opinion are like assholes everyones got one.

  • @acidmillionaires ... and they all stink.

  • @acidmillionaires The Locust!!

  • @acidmillionaires And opinions you're likely to agree on are like scat fetishes, not alot of people have them.

  • This is the intro song from the movie ''The Air I Breathe''

  • I love this song. The guitars go perfectly with the lead singers voice and the drums are intergalactic.

  • Wow epic drummer I mean I hate when people say she's good for a girl because on any given day she would be better than any guy.

  • Comment removed

  • HEY LISTEN TO REACTA----- YOU GUYS WILL LIKE IT =D

  • Man, I wouldn't know what to do with Eugene's lips...I just wouldn't..

  • wow great band im surprised they are so under rated

  • @platypusdoom798763 or what the fuck ever you need to chill. And btw fucking has no e in it.

    (fuck+chicken=fucken?)

  • The music is great...

BUT HOW ABOUT THAT FUCKING VIDEO!!!

  • stop to talk bullshit this band is awesome!!!!

  • Despite his alien-shaped head, I like their music and their band setup. Sure there are girl drummers and singing bassists, but it isn't too often you them in a band together... especially just a 3-piece band. I enjoy that authenticity aspect of their band.

  • Hmmmm 23 people fucked up and clicked the thumbs down button...

  • autolux tonight baby!! so effin stoked!!

  • @bobbyrawson

at the el rey theatre?? =D

  • This song is addicting. Don't know the band but they are playing about 2 hrs away from me this weekend. Hope I can go.

  • i get to see these guys tomorrow! truly amazing :)

  • great drummer terrible singer sounds like he took 5 valiums before recording this song

  • @paquitorivero

    Goes with music pretty well...

  • @paquitorivero

he probably did...he fucken rocks though.

  • this is the first time ive listened to this band. and i really like them.

  • just saw an awesome performance of this live like two weeks ago. carla blows my mind

  • I think it is fair to judge a band by its fans. And taking a look at the comments here... I am not going any further into this band.

  • Comment removed

  • @rothery86 Just my opinion but I think its silly to judge a band by what people say on youtube. (this goes for any band) Go see a show or listen to a variety of their music then pass judgment based on YOUR perception of the band. Not everyone has the same taste.

  • @9271980starvyn

Finally a person who is intelligent. I agree its you perception of the music that matters.

  • @9271980starvyn judge people by what they say. go to their homes and meet everyone and then pass judgment based on your stupid philosophical perception. and leave the people do whatever they want .

  • @9271980starvyn BRAVO!!! I would go so far to not only agree w/you about opinions given on Youtube but would also include opinion broadcast in any format. Magazines, blogs, tv, radio and especially the JOURNALIST CRITIC. Good Grief! How many times have I read a new music review in RS and thought... This writer is just so full of shit. I mean if YOU like the sounds, if the music moves YOU, then what does anyone else' opinion matter. Right?

  • @9271980starvyn Thank you!!!!!

  • @9271980starvyn

my opinion is that you have a pretty decent opinion, thanks for sharing it with us.

  • @rothery86

Good idea. More people need to be aware of the fact that music is an all social phenomenon. I mean, who the fuck listens to music for the music?! That's just ridiculous! :) Good on ya', man.

  • @Platypusdoom420

youre an idiot. this has to be one of the stupidest things ive ever heard my entire life. im not exaggerating. im serious. i didnt think anyone could be so fucken...dumb.

  • @vdoza33

Are you autistic? That was blatant sarcasm.

  • @Platypusdoom420 sarcasm doesn't convey well on the internet

  • @Platypusdoom420 I listen to music for the music

  • singer ruins this band and song

  • Carla Azar se llama la baterista, ha grabado con varia gente, entre ellos el disco "Vagabundo" de Robi Draco Rosa. Es buenisima.

  • Carla strikes me in way that no woman ever has... that was kinda creepy of me.

  • i saw Autolux with This Will Destroy You, and let me tell you, recordings cant even BEGIN to convey how incredibly awesome Autolux is live in an intimate setting. i have seen autolux twice now, once with NIN and once headlining, and the show where i saw them heaflining and sat right on the stage, nothing compares to it.

  • One of the best songs of the decade along with Attack Music by These New Puritans and Wild Human Child by Egyptian Hip Hop!!!!!!!

  • one of the best beats ive ever heard

  • really digging this band. female drummer= class

  • great song, I could use some more focus on the drummer and less on the singer though

  • Saw them in Seattle. Decent!

  • sounds like trent put some of his creativity!!!

  • @ozoortiz89 are you joking or are you actually mentally deficient? trent has fucking nothing to do with autolux other than going on tour with them, autolux dont need fuckign trent reznor to produce an album or anything, this was released in fucking 2004, and on a fucking demo in 2000, long before trent ever fucking heard of autolux so get your shit straight

  • The xru

  • I'm here because of trent :D

  • @vegamarco4 Reznor? me too!

  • Hm, this band is cool, just found out about them.

Yes, I like the garage-y, John Bonham-esque beat mixed with the calm ambiance.

  • love this band. they are so unique. shame that a lot of people don't understand that.

  • @MacDaddyPooty

dude i came here from trent's twitter account too.

  • I actually heard this song in the intro to a pretty good movie called, " The Air I breathe." It's a pretty good movie, but this song got me hooked. Everytime I watched the video I'd hear this song and think, " I need to find this!", and so I did, and it's awesome. Love it!

  • how hot is the drummer! damn!!

  • @luckyphilster she is so freaking amazing live too, have you seen it? xoxoxo and she can sing. :))

  • I'm getting a John Lennon vibe from the vocalist...

  • Oh my god....I'm seriously feelin this.

  • Love the song, what an uninspired video though

  • ....shake shake the stars down!

  • This is hauntingly beautiful. I glad that they're americans with the real creativity.

  • i remember seeing them live a couple years ago and couldnt tell the drummer was a girl and had my eyes glued on her the whole time when she finally got up i was like GOD DAMMIT! >:-[.....lol

  • never heard of this band but its pretty damn good.

  • love love love love

  • when the guitar screeches in = absolute euphoria!

  • i hate how people like this are not more famous than justin beiber. This is real music. Now its just gay boys making stupid pop songs.

  • @kevinmcdade Haha! I laugh because your ignorant xD

  • Lol your not a drummer you don't know shit from puddy bud. your the ignorant one, go fuck yourself you stupid piece of shit.

  • @kevinmcdade I'm not a drummer? Matter of fact, I am. AND I am a girl. Sure this may not be the BEST drumming out there, but it fits perfectly into the song.

  • thank you for saying that it all makes sense now =), your a stupid bitch who doesnt know anything about the drums, cant play the drums worth shit and sorry but your opinion doesn't matter to me, fuck off ho.

  • where sspu got their sound.... i guess

  • @ThisSydeUp sort of, you coudl argue that their different in many ways though

  • Beautiful, challenging records that reveals more facets every time you listen to it.

    Amazing.

  • drum/bass <3

  • wow, i was just watching cable and the movie the air i breathe came on and i heard this song over teh starting credits, by 1 min in i was like who the fuck is this?? i immediatly looked up info on the soundtrack and just guessed that autolux was the band. this song is AMAZING, its been awhile since anything hit me like this from production values to the song itself. that beat is just sick, as is it's place in the mix. i cant wait to look up more from this band.

  • im a drummer, and to all those arguing about the drums/bass in this song let me tell you that they are one regardless of the break-free natue of the bass, get a grip and learn some musicmanship x

  • they opened for atoms for peace in santa barbara. they were really good the guitarist didnt seem very into it tho.

  • @patrickfreeland0604 Greg Edwards has never had the "into it" style. That goes all the way back to Failure. He had the same stylings when I saw Failure, in 1997.

  • you know that when people like maynard and trent say that autolux is good u better belive them

  • I thought this song was just good until 0:55, when it got awesome.

  • This beat is sick

  • I AM A HIPSTER.

  • the drummer is gorgeous

  • maynard DID NOT say these guys rule douch bags.... TROOF

  • @trosea Oh, who gives a damn what Keenan says.

  • Future Perfect is my #1 album of the 00's. It's so near perfect. Barely beat out Sufjan Stevens' Illinois. I had dinner with Sufjan cause I was dating his cousin. He's actually pretty fucking hilarious. I feel like if I had dinner with these guys, we'd just shoot some smack and jam out some Muddy Waters covers till 5am. I have no idea why I just told you all this.

  • Not bad. They could have put a little more oomph behind the guitar but overall nice work.

  • @DrWhiggs have you listened to it on cd or even mp3? i'd say theres plenty of "oomph"

  • @oohlalalaohhlala Only here, where the guitar is drowned out by the drums. Which doesn't work for blues, even white boy blues.

  • @DrWhiggs

This isn't blues. The drums are louder because they're more important in the song. The guitar part is strictly supportive. And the bass should actually be louder.

  • @baTonkaTruck quite a bold statement. I like seven swans better than illinoise anyways. but better than every full length minus the bear record? radiohead records?

  • @jh69052

I guess it comes to personal taste. I've listened to and enjoyed this album more than any other, and it's influenced my guitar work immensely. While I love Radiohead's 00's catalog, and Minus the Bear, Ambulance LTD, and the countless other startlingly good bands of the last 10 years.. none of it moved me personally, nor described our anesthetized technological American landscape, quite as powerfully and immediately as this.

  • Anyone who likes this song, give this UNKLE remix a listen:

    watch?v=_qkYOCQwL7M

  • Definitely my favorite Autolux track...

  • QC ftw!

  • ^_________^

  • beautiful song from a great band! pls check out our video, we are still trying to get that shoegaze/ambient feel.. just type, jam experiment video file 1 (or video file 2)

  • I love Autolux so much.

  • If you like Autolux check out a band called Failure, Greg Edwards formed the band in the 1990s (with others), their music still sounds so good today.

  • this song is so sexy.
