@123459ization No, you're the idiot. It's part of the Japanese pitching culture. Know what you're talking about before you type any more bile, please.
I don't know why people are always so focused on speed anyway. Movement is just as equally important, if not more. I'm a fastpitch pitcher and the submarine technique(minus the presentation) is simular to what we do. Cat Osterman is one of the best fastpitch pitchers in the world, and although she is VERY fast, she's not the fastest. She has more college and professional strikeouts than any other pitcher simply because he ball breaks like no other pitcher. Just something to think about.
@jeterlover03 i agree with you, i throw pretty hard, but am thinking about a sidearm angle to get more movement. been to a few mizzou baseball games and man do those pro scouts love the heat. i have a few videos of a guy who i went to school with who plays at mizzou, i heard he was reaching mid 90s in hs, but didnt do so well in college, switched to sidearm and is doing fantastic. he's got insane movement.
@jeterlover03 I don't know if they have this pitch in baseball....but if a submarine pitcher were to throw the ball with a lot of backspin and kept their hand closer to their body they could probably throw a rise ball. Not sure...I would have to have a better understanding of how they release the ball....hmmmm
@MrBurtonfreak ....mmmm....maybe not with the submarine pitcher...like I said early...in fastpitch, in order to throw a rising ball you have to be able to throw around 58+ to generate enough torque for the ball to rise. I think it would be more a matter of slightly changing mechanics, grib, release, and ball spin to throw a rising ball, than speed. Obviously this is all hypothetical and speculatory.
@jeterlover03 yeah i guess submarine makes a lil difference but hes still gotta be pretty fast to get that much spin, or he could wreck his arm trying, i dont think the MLB's gunna see a rising fastball for a little while, haha
its not impossible. im a college baseball player and i pitch from the submarine arm slot too. its all about concentration and focus. i sometimes scrape my knuckles and have bled a few times. but in the end, 2 K's an inning feels great!
@PJPak721 He does pitch slow. but ask anyother big batter. They'd rather hit off a 95mph pitcher then a skilled sidearm/submarine pitcher any day. its all about deception
he does touch the ground. I've been to a lot of games where he pitches, and you cant tell where the ball is because of the rosin bag, so from now on when he pitches, they have to move the rosin bag on the other side of the mound
not really.. he has a really good arm slot for a submarine pitcher. In relation to his upper body, he is basically throwing from 3 quarters so he wont hurt his elbow or shoulder as if he threw sidearm.
