Now this is true country music....I salute Brad Paisley for continuing to bring us real country music and to pay honor to the older artist! Love this song!
All the old greats are just about gone, and the ones that are left are close to being gone. When they are all gone country music will go with them. I cant even listen to todays radio it makes me sick to my stomach. There are no new singers who can fill the shoes of the men in this song.
SON!!!! listen to him make that steel cry,beg in fact, love this song and thanks to brad for not falling into the ''trashville trap'' called pop music.
I agree with Bill and the rest, "too country" doesn't make any sense. How can a song, based on ones life, or an event in ones life, sang from the heart, be "TOO COUNTRY"?
this song come out cuz every one in the country was saying Jones Buck's & Bill's songs are too-Country this is why we never hear George Jones any more on ur Country radios :(
Well, you just can't get too country I feel ! This is a great song These artists here are pure country gold. I remember reading one time that Ira Louvin was encouraged by some producer to give up his mandolin because it was too country. What a jerk. Ira with his fabulous tenor voice and his mandolin along with brother Charlie and his guitar were, together, talented beyond compare. I am glad Charlie is still singing.. Thanks for posting. this winner. -Paula
The pedal steel in this song is beyond amazing, it tells the story all by itself! I'm truly in love with this song...
And i'm just a dutch guy but sometimes i wonder if i was born in the wrong country... But then i think, it doesn't matter, with music like this it doesn't matter where you're from, just as long as you feel it...
Oh man tell me about it. I'm Dutch but I'm a real country girl! I've always loved country and after spending some time in America I just can't get enough of it. It's too bad country doesn't get played in Holland. Dutch people don't know what they're missing out on.
@LoekSijbers My dad plays pedal steel guitar, and everytime I hear the line "Do the fiddle and steel remind you too much of home?" I tear up... Because they do.
@LoekSijbers - I am amazed to see someone say that- that it doesn't matter where your from as long as you feel it!! That sums it up perfectly. Music is universal. It is for all people regardless of color or creed, regardless of where they come from. When I was in the service I was stationed in Germany and George Jones was doing a tour there, so a couple of us went to see the ol' possum. That german audience was more enthusiastic than some concerts I have seen here in the states!!
@LoekSijbers Oh yes that crying pedal steel guitar is exquisite ,its sad to think almost all the great session steel players from the 60s 70are gone , or are retired .
Players now don't play like that , its not wanted anymore but given the chance they could and I bet almost every one of them would .

I wished my children would have been able to grow up being too country, instead of that crap they have to listen to on RADIO today.

Nothing could ever be "Too Country", as far as I am concerned. Hardcore Country is the best of all the Country. George is the best out of this bunch.
