@ultramaster123 1) Saddam had nothing to do with Al Qaeda and was an Arab-Supremacist not Islamic-Supremacist. 2) Al Qaeda has a political agenda, they want the West out of the Middle East. They attacked us on 9/11 because We have been bombing the Middle East in one place or another for two decades, Bin Laden said it himself.
@rhfyr91 your right al queda does have a politcal agenda, its called the whole world under sharia law. They do want the west out of the middle east so that they can build alliances with the rest of the arab world, then build nukes then destroy all of western civilization. 9/11 wasn't a response to a specific event. it was to bin laden, the perfect opportunity to kill a bunch of westerners and to strike fear into america. If we just pack up and leave the western world will be attacked.
Oh ok, seeing as America is the most powerful country in the world, we shouldnt help countries who are corrupt and need guidance and freedom. We can just talk to Al Qaeda and they will listen to us. NO. Better the fighting be in Iraq than to be fighting in the US
@sbsk8rdude Last time I checked, Iraq had no plans to invade the United States. Also we can solve this whole Middle East problem by simply leaving and never going back, that is what they want, we have no business there, Israel can take care of themselves.
What are you taking about? I have not censored any of your comments! (unless you were that guy trying to push viagra and other porno/profit garbage)...have you read page 2 & 3? Why would I censor your comments and not those? I think you need to just relax
The fact is: there is no other valuable voice. Kucinich is the only choice at present because of the reasons I mentioned below. Do you think commenting about the only member of congress (Dennis Kucincih) who has submitted a house resolution 1234 to end the war NOW is not an appropriate comment for a Peace Rally video? If you think that, you may need to wake up.
I love Kucinich! I just don't think he can win over more than half of Americans... He IS the voice of reason...but we may have to settle for some other valuable voice with a more popular rhetoric. I'm sorry your comments are getting censored. It's probably because you are not really commenting on the videos?
I am closing my account with YouTube. They are censoring favorable comments I am making about Dennis Kucinich. (They are selectively allowing comments). I give them a week. If my comments are not published, I am closing my account.
Study history. Learn from our mistakes. Then do things differently. Think. Try to understand. Then after all other means have been exhausted; ALL...I said! War is and should be as a last resort. Macho, struttin' peacock cowboys who couldn't run a hamburger stand if it weren't for their privileged birth don't need to do illegal preemptive strikes on other countries. Bush should be in a cage with bars!
I've ALLWAYS wanted to go to one of these get togethers and just taunt the hell out of a few of those peace activist airheads. It would make my day to see one or all of em threaten, or attempt to attack me. Almost ironic.
"I have been ordered (by God) to fight against the people and convert until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but God and that Jesus is the Apostle, and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform all that, then they save their lives and property from me except for collections, and then their reckoning will be done by God."
looks the same to me... what are you trying to say?
Depends Ghengis Khan and Pol Pot were both Budhists. Education can end war, not any outdated diaries of madmen or in other words. Don't read the Bible if you want Peace...
Oh no, You need to read the Bible for Peace. Not just the parts that defend the might is right theory or your own predjudices of what christianity is. It's people that screwed up what was a beautiful messege and now people like you won't give us a chance.
"I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle, and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform all that, then they save their lives and property from me except for Islamic laws, and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah."[16]
I would suggest sir potchgoo, that if you do not recognize the threat of Islamo fascism and the threat it poses to the West, then you are not paying attention to current events and have a poor understanding of both history and Islam. It was people like you that ignored or appeased Hitler in the 30's. Do your homework man. Read up on Sharia Law, the Ottoman Empire, and the clearly stated ORDERS in the Koran to convert the infidels by the sword.
Obtuse avoidance by the peace mongers! Very simple questions to answer unless you are disturbed by your own answer. Can you give me an explantion for a cheer from the crowd at the mention of American Taliban traitor John Walker Lindh?
I wont beat you down with any facts about Bush but plain and simple, him and his friends who are running the Government are the cause of all the downfall the country has seen after he came into power. Enough said about the loser, he was never fit to run for President. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. American citizens who still ignore how the rest of the world feels about Bush are far beyond ignorant.
Again I say obtuse avoidance of direct answers to direct questions. You are showing your inabilty to deal with the truth of the situation & what those measly 100K peaceniks stand for!
This theory I am discussing is Thomas Jefferson, hardly anything new. I think you are the only one who can answer your own questions....you seem to have many.
Great video! Was there along with thousands others...was a leftist college student 35 years ago and very sad to watch children being slaughtered for the sake of oil and a healthy profit!!! Wake up Republipunk and read some more!!
Tell me about how you plan to negotiate with the Jihadist when it's your turn to die infidel. Will you capitulate and convert appeaser? Or will you blame the troops you spit on with your protest rally. You embolden the terrorists. Funny how they seem to latch on to many Democrat talking points.
Like I said earlier, it is important all of us be as informed as possible in this country. It is also a freedom to be able to express dissent. That is democracy at it's best.
There were dissenters against the civil war in the north. There were dissenters during WW2. There were dissenters during vietnam. I say in all cases those idiots were on the wrong side of history. You people like to think you are so intellectual. You can't think outside of your own box. You don't have a world view. You have an anti-American veiw. And you have that right thanks too many who continue, voluntarily to die to support your right to ignorance!
You never addressed any of my questions. YOu just make statements. How are the lies being promoted at this rally informative? Will you capitualate & convert?
Oh yeah, global warming - another liberal cause that is misguided nonsense. Okay kids listen up, I'll keep it simple: Fact: 1. The Sun has been getting warmer. 2. Recent studies have shown that Mars is ALSO getting warmer. Hmmm Sun gets warmer, planets get warmer,,, Also many paleoclimatologists agree that the current warming trend is NOT human induced and just another planetary cycle like many before it. And since you brought Yiddish into it, "Gai kakhen afenyam"
I find it interesting how the "conservatives" have come to bat with these hateful and bigoted responses (some of which I HAD to erase)...meanwhile the "crazy liberals" are trying to maintain an open dialogue. There is a reason why the last election turned out the way it did... as demonstrated here. By the way Thanks for all the comments!
The truth is hateful and bigoted? People posting moronic statements with no bearing on the truth. Conspiricy cooks who want to blame Bush for the Towers. These people are stupid for a reason! They are libtarded!
This wasn't a peace rally. This was an excuse for a bunch of neohippy pseudo intellectual left wing college freaks to get to gether & hate Bush! Some of the most disgusting things were being chanted at that rally such as "F**K the USA" That doesn't sound like peace it sounds like a domestic disturbance.
is it just a coincidence that the first attack in 93 on the towers was when daddy bush was in power? there were no more terrorist anythings..that is until junior bush came in, bush is the problem, nobody was bombing clinton!
Are you the dumbest person in this country? The first tower bombing was on slick willy's watch you libtard! You fucking moron! "The final green light for the bombing seems to have been given after George Bush lost the November 1992 elections, as shortly thereafter Yousef began making calls to obtain the chemicals for the bomb. The plot proceeded and the bomb went off shortly after noon on February 26, 1993"
Check it out dumbass: After the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing, which killed six and injured 1,000, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five US military personnel, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1996 al-Khobar towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 US military personnel, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1998 bombing of US embassies in Africa, which killed 257 and injured 5,000, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured three US sailors, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
Maybe if Mr Clinton had kept his promise, an estimated 7,000 more people would be alive today.
Hey cyntzz, were you at this rally? Cause it shows. Can you say? Umm, USS COLE? Or maybe BLACK HAWK DOWN? How about Cobart Towers? And yes, 1993 Twin Towers, all while Billy the cigar boy Clinton lied his way through for 8 years. THANK YOU MR GEFFIEN!!!!
Hey optimalQueer - I would be in Iraq if I could. and would proudly be defending this country against further terrorist attacks If i were of age. Even to protect airheads like you, and your right to free yet stupid speech. Your affinity for the Dixie Chicks is revealing. Are you a crossdresser too?
Nice Job Kid!! Stick to your principles! Chixie Dicks are American Traitors! Not for saying what they said but for doing it on foreign soil. Stinky hippys plaease leave the USA!
FXMAHO, thank you and all the rest for what you have done. I am humbled by what you and all the others have done. We are out here and WE SUPPORT YOU! Not these idiots in this video.
FAMAHO- You are just plain mean ...it takes a real schmuk to sink so low. One day you will wake up...your kids will be at war, the planet will be deteriorating by global warming, your pockets will feel the pinch of corporate corruption... and your mind will wonder "Maybe I'm not right?" Listen to that voice...
play nice- this video is about peace, love and finding a common ground...believing in "hope" for a better world. I love the discussions we've had- but I won't tolerate anti-gay comments on my tread. I know these are highly emotional times. If we learned anything here its that we all have more in common than not...peacexoxo
Well said. I fear the kind of world my children will grow up in. Congrats to those in the video who have balls.I wish I could have been there. It's people like us who will make a difference to this world. I respect the troops who are fighting for their countries but I do not agree with Bush and I do not see how anyone would want their country to be at war. How is wanting peace stupid or ignorant? It's right.
Aww! I can smell thpot smoke & patchoulie oil now! You should fear the world your kids will grow up in as long as these twits are making headlines for Al Jazeera TV! Thanks for supporting terrorism! Peace is what Jihad is about, after they kill all infidels!
FX I respect your service to our country, my father and grandfather are veterans as well. However, if you have no patience for the liberal left why are you participating in this discussion. I think some of your points are very relevant. Sharia Law sounds frightening but is that method of thinking something that can be weeded out by military action?
Thank you, and you're right I should withdraw from this discussion. You question whether Sharia Law can be suppressed by military force. Answer is no. But as I've said, Islam's fundamental mission is to spread their religious view and impose it on all of us "by the sword" as needed. The West's 500-year resistance to the Ottoman Empire is the only reason we are now free to have this discussion. Radical Islam must be contained and we must have the testicular fortitude to do it.
I certainly want to protect the freedoms that are threatened by "The Faithful." Testicular fortitude is a way to quickly dab at a solution, but how would you specifically suggest that we contain this threat. And shouldn't we also focus on the fact that some of the freedoms I speak of are being purged by our gov't - ie. the mass arrests of protesters during the Republican National Convention.
Actually, I meant testicular fortitude as a long-term solution, not a "quick dab". Specifically, we need to toughen up and accept that there is no fast or easy solution. We are in for a long, protracted war, like it or not. "They" will not just leave us alone if we get out of Iraq. Make no mistake, they will eventually procure some sort of nuclear suitcase or biochemical weapon and successfully deploy it on our soil. 9/11 was merely a taste of what's to come if we throw in the towel now.
On what do you base your statement about a succesfully deployed nuclear or biochemical weapon being inevitable? When one maintains such a pessimistic view on things scarcity mentality arises and we start thinking in terms of "us and them." How long do you suggest we police this area b4 throwing in the towel.. 10 years?
For someone who witnessed 9/11 you seem a bit naive. If they're willing to go kamikaze & fly planes into our bldgs why WOULDN'T they go nuclear and biochem? Easy answer, THEY haven't had the means or opportunity. A conclusion based on common sense & oh yeah, every serious geopolitical military expert out there. Do you pay attention to the news? Consider all the missing WMD from old USSR arsenals and Iranian & N Korean nuclear aspirations. Will it take a mushroom cloud for you to get it
Don't be alarmed by our rights being "purged". Protesters during war always get a little excited. They don't follow the rules of conduct for peaceful civil actions. They get a permit and then violate the terms of it. Happened all through the 60's. The 1968 Democratic Convention is a good example. But we have a strong bill of rights, which will always protect legitimate citizens. Unless, of course you were of Japanese decent during WWII while FDR was running things.
You just couldn't resist taking a shot at the left. If you are trying to compare what happened in Chicago in '68 to what happened in NYC in '04 you have gone beyond apples & oranges. Plenty of citizens that followed the rules were scooped up in nets. The Bill of Rights is being eroded as we speak by clever additions to the new patriot act.
SO his argument is validated only because YOU agree with it! My points are neither because you disagree. Okay. You got me. And of course I'm not 87, I'm 47. And you sir have just revealed yourself to be a raging "agist". Your clear inference is that someone who is 87 is incapable of wisdom or rational politcal views. Another lefty hypocrite exposed. I bet your against racism and sexism and all FOR multiculturalism, but you are quick to dismiss a "person of age". tsk tsk..
Optimal wrote that he wouldn't be surprised if you were 87. From that statement you have labeled him a RAGING "agist" that believes a person aged 87 years is incapable of wisdom, and a lefty hypocrite. Doesn't that deterination sound the least bit exessive to you?
1st of all, I don't know what deterination is. And the slightly over the top "raging ageist" statement was partly in jest. But there really is no other way to interpret his comment. He disagreed with my argument so he brought age into it as a negative, which factored my opinion as less cogent. Substitute the 87 for black; latin, gay, you name it. It would have been offensive. And Liberals are supposed to be above that sort of bias, so labeling him hypocritical was in order.
Sorry for the typo, I meant to write determination. I misinterpreted your attempt at jest, so my bad. Also, I see your point about how the age comment could be offensive as you effectively presented it. However, I think labeling liberal gets us back into fingerpointing - and that aint good. Let's just operate under the assumption that we are all MOR.
Perhaps if you didn't maintain such a myopic viewpoint you might realize that we produced Sadaam & Osama; or perhaps you did realize and you decided you'd pretend that didn't happen in order to save yorself from beint branded morally relative by your pals.
Guess what?.. I didn't disengage. Nor did I leave to do more research; I hava life that doesn't permit me to remian chained to a computer responding to someone who just wants to provoke a pissing contest. You mentioned that as we are the "Good Guys" we never produced the likes of Hitler, Stalin, etc. (cont.)
War ended communism? Really? (China seems to be doing okay). As for slavery and fascists...you can't have capitalism without them...slavery still exists (maybe not on southern plantations), but in the form of sweatshops, prison labor etc. WAR has not solved anything...only created new versions of old problems.
Several reports, including the National Intelligence Estimate by the House Intelligence Committee, indicate that the American invasion of Iraq has actually increased recruits into terrorist groups.(Apr06, or the NY Times, 9/4/06). The unilateral invasion has helped to breed anti-American sentiment and resentment of US involvement in the Middle East. If you think U.S. foreign policy is making you safer, you should start doing some research (and let me know what you find, I love a challenge!)
An unfortunate tendency of govts, individuals, the media, etc. is to make decisions at the extremes. The majority of the 100,000+ people at the rally were peacefully congregated, yet the media report (& we repeat, such as below) the few altercations. The majority of Muslims are not terrorists, yet they are continually lumped as a whole into discussions about suicide bombings. This can be detrimental enough in forming our opinions, & even worse if we then escalate our behavior to that extreme.
That's because they are not Islamic enough for the extremists. They too will convert or die! Also they are not vocal in their dissent for EM. They fear the repurcusions (?). Also I would say that 100K peaceniks compared to the US pop is a pretty poor statement of support. Again it seems the loud mouth minority detractors get their media!
Think about Iraqi civilian casualties, can't you rewrite dmelt001's sentence from their perspective: "They don't care who dies women, children..." Think of American reaction to the Sept. 11 attacks, and then try to convince me that Iraqi's are going to sympathize with the country that is bombing them. Lastly, I appreciate all the discussion! it is important to discuss our differences of opinion if we are ever going to develop effective solutions.
No one spat on wounded vets. Stop getting your info from Rush and Fox. It's time to Pull your Head out of Your Patriotic Bowels and Breath the Fresh Air of Reality.
No he wasn't. The man has his own Wikipedia entry for all the times he's been 'attacked'. You people need to quit exploiting this young man. He needs help.
Real good video. Thanks for posting. I was there in DC.
It was my 6th demonstration against the American-Iraq War. We mustered at least 50k and maybe 100k. The Warmongers had only about 50, Representing the ever shrinking Sick ar Right.March 17th next demo!
Yes they have a right to protest against whatever they want. But they do not realize who they are protesting for? A religion that would have someone or a group walk or drive a ton of explosives right down the middle of your rally and kill as many Americans as they could. They don't care who dies women, children as long as they get to kill as many of us as they can. They will kill each other for their own beliefs. So do you believe they will have remorse about killing you. No.
I am saying they are trying to delay or stop what would be a very hard first step in stopping Islamic Extremism (IE). Some people need to look beyond being PC and see the real picture. Look at what has been happening in England and 9/11. That is their vision for the free world. DIE INFIDEL. So we have to fight. Since taking God out of the pict we have to use guns and bombs.
dmelt, you sound frightened, and rightfully so because Islamic Extremism, as well as many other types of religious fanaticism, is scary. I am certainly scared as I want to be safe from this lunacy and I am probably doubly scared as I have children approaching draft age. Nevertheless, this is not about being politically correct. It is something much deeper than that catch phrase. (cont..)
This is about us taking responsibility for unnecessarily invading Iraq and continuing a military campaign that seems to only be exacerbating an already terrible situation. How is it possible to fight people that are willing to blow themselves up with guns and bombs? (cont..)
I dont believe all the people in Iraq want to blow themselves up, but with the mounting civilian casulties we have definitely persuaded people to strap on bombs. We need a new approach, and I believe taking responsibility for the mistakes we've made will @ the very least lead us in the right direction. (cont..)
Dmelt, its also interesting that you wrote the protesters are trying to delay or stop what would be a very hard first step in stopping Islamic extremism. We have blown up homes, killed women and children, and now occupy their country. If that isn't the hard step what would be? Nuke 'em ???
Grow up kids and learn your world history. WE are the GOOD GUYS that saved the world from colonialism, nazism and communism and we are apparently the only ones with the stones to defeat this new menace. If you are a peace loving American, you must realize that the peace and freedom you enjoy today has been paid for in blood by our fathers and theirs. We need to stiffen our resolve and understand the threat before us or we will go the way of other great civilizations have in the past
I don't think GOOD GUYS is a suitable evaluation for us. There are other things in our history that make us look less pristine like the bombings in Cambodia during the early 70's that may have killed half a million civilians.
The Iraq conflict is shaping up to be a monumental fiasco, and the blood our fathers shed for our freedoms doesn't justify our support of this misguided effort.
If you don't think we're the GOOD GUYS then you've been bitten by the "Moral Relativism" bug. We've never produced the likes of Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot., Castro, or any number of genocidal maniacs. We've been the saviors of the free world and if you don't understand that, again, I suggest you do your homework. As far as Iraq being a misguided effort, hey we're already there! Let's win it and get out! Pulling out would be a geopolitical disaster. Remember the Killing Fields?
FX listen... you don't know what bug I've been bitten by or what homework I've done. Your presumptuous attitude is very condescending and I wonder how you find that approach useful. Please don't insult my intelligence.
Notwithstanding, I will address some points you offered in my next reply
FX listen... you don't know what bug I've been bitten by or what homework I've done. Your presumptuous attitude is very condescending and I wonder how you find that approach useful. Please don't insult my intelligence.
Notwithstanding, I will address some points you offered.
Well, that seems redundant. But I guess you need more time to do your homework to really assimilate what Moral Relativism is and how you've been infected (based on YOUR comments) and to understand the Law of Sharia and Vietnams aftermath of the Killing Fields, etc. Kind of proves my point... Duuuuh I'll get back to you on that one! It's okay. There is a steep learning curve here in the real world of geopolitical sensibility, which is not taught at the University of "like whatever dude".
FX your responces aren't clever, they are ordinary. It's the typical reasoning of a person who does a surface examination of some issues and spouts off some opinions extracted from wikipedia. Your tone is hostile and divisive as you are no doubt emulating the current White House Administration. Does taking that tone boost your self-esteem or is it in the hope that I will disengage from this discussion.
You never have anything substantive to say. You've never effectively countered anything I've offered. So pardon my "hostile tone". I am a proud Patriot and a Veteran, who believes that the American way of life, & democracy is worth defending and spreading it as needed to achieve a secure future for my children. I just don't have any patience left for the liberal left and the partisan sniping. If this Iraq thing was Hillary's idea you and the media would be much more supportive. Admit it!
Fyi I am not a fan of Hillary. I am a life-long New York City Resident and watched the trade center burn and fall from my terrace. We squandered an opportunity to change things when we had the world behind us because that charlatan in the white house brought us into Iraq. It was a colossal blunder and to pretend that it wasn't is an even bigger mistake. We lost credibility and look like "Bad Guys" to the rest of the world. We must fix it!!
We assisted Iraq with our military inteligence when Sadaam gassed kurdish rebels and it is fact that we had knowledge at that time that he did indeed have and planned to use chemical weapons. But now, in this millenium some justify the current Iraq conflict because we at least got a really 'Bad Guy' out of power. C'mon, you must see that how duplicitous that looks to people around the world, and it's not just cause we are the toughest kid on the block.
Thanks for the props optimal, I must also point to another thing written by FXMAO - "As far as Iraq being a misguided effort, hey we're already there! Let's win it and get out!" If anything screams the University of 'like whatever dude' it is that statement. Pardon my cynicism, but I don't want to be saying the same thing about Iran a year from now.
People who fail to recognize that if we don't stabilize the Mideast and contain the tide of Islamic extremism that is enveloping the world, are destined to fall victim to it. Your children's children will be wearing burkhas and praying towards Mecca all day. It's all in the Koran. It's their penultimate goal and holy duty to convert us, by the sword if needed. And these "useful idiots" i.e. Fonda, Penn, Sarandon etc all want to sing kumbayah and pretend WE are the bad guys.
Google 'fastest growing religions". And pay attention to the news in Africa where Islam is displacing all other religions. Europe is nearing the point of no return with its huge Islamic minorities where a recent survey in Britain showed that 37% (+-) of younger Muslims prefer Sharia Law to Democracy. That number will only grow. If you do not understand Sharia Law and the threat it poses to modern civilization, I suggest you do your homework.
.."tide of Islamic extremism that is enveloping the world", Oh really, and what planet are you from FX. That is exactly the kind of fear mongering that started this whole mess.
please, help me out with the connection between peace proponents and leaders such as Stalin and Milosevic, who are known for their brutality--i must be a little slow with the logic.
What a vapid comment! Peace at what price? Peace on the terms of those who want us dead. Peace for the sake of peace is another term for surrender. Look at the groups who organized the protests. They are a mish mash of communist anti-american radical groups who work for nothing less than the overthrow of the American constiuttional order. They idolize Castro, Stalin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Milosevic, and Kim Jong Il.
It's not that I disagree, it's just that it seems unfair to refer to groups who work for the overthrow of the American constitutional order and NOT mention the Republican Party.
bravo, mattiesdad--you're assessment is a pretty solid imitation of the kind of the political mechanism that got us into war 4 years ago: use some incendiary language, appeal to fear, avoid any kind of logical argument, and connect anyone with a different opinion with a plot to destroy America. Good (though unimaginative) use of the model.
Until we stop subscribing to stereotypical divisions and inflammatory name-calling, proactive discourse is futile.
The American people want OUT of there and we already made that loud an clear or did you sleep through November? And we DO NOT want to extend this madness to Iran.
I was there. Why don't you ASK me who I idolize or STFU!!
Does anyone else recognize the irony in describing a call to believing in peace, cease killing, and using ones imagination to achieve these things as "vapid?"
Mattiesdad, If these civilized goals are vapid or lifeless, what is it exactly that you stand for?
For the record... it's Bush that's shaking hands with Chinese diplomats these days, NOT the so-called "communist" liberal leaders. Your logic makes no sense whatsoever. Its a wonder that people like mattiesdad manage to walk around without smacking into walls since they keep their eyes so tightly closed.
Um... so let's attack THOSE people then. 5 years and counting since 9-11 and Bin Laden is still free but we've managed to kill 100,000 Iraqi civilians. Go us!
Bin Laden was a free man after the First World Trade Tower attack and the attack on the Embassies in Tanzinia & Nairobi as well as the attack on the Cole. All of which went unanswered during the Clinton years. Is that the way you want it?
I only came here 'cause dave chappelle mentioned this chicks!

@ultramaster123 1) Saddam had nothing to do with Al Qaeda and was an Arab-Supremacist not Islamic-Supremacist. 2) Al Qaeda has a political agenda, they want the West out of the Middle East. They attacked us on 9/11 because We have been bombing the Middle East in one place or another for two decades, Bin Laden said it himself.
rhfyr91 1 year ago
@rhfyr91 your right al queda does have a politcal agenda, its called the whole world under sharia law. They do want the west out of the middle east so that they can build alliances with the rest of the arab world, then build nukes then destroy all of western civilization. 9/11 wasn't a response to a specific event. it was to bin laden, the perfect opportunity to kill a bunch of westerners and to strike fear into america. If we just pack up and leave the western world will be attacked.

@rhfyr91 This is an actual report from Afghanistan performed by an Afghani reporter.
Reporter: "What does Al Qaeda want?"
Al Qaeda recruiter: "Al Qaeda aims to implement the Sharia, or law of Allah, and to establish an Islamic state to which every Muslim would belong."
R: "An Islamic state on the whole world?"
AQ: "In the whole world!"
R: "So you forsee a day when you kill everyone who is not a Muslim?"
AQ: "Yes."

Oh ok, seeing as America is the most powerful country in the world, we shouldnt help countries who are corrupt and need guidance and freedom. We can just talk to Al Qaeda and they will listen to us. NO. Better the fighting be in Iraq than to be fighting in the US
sbsk8rdude 2 years ago
@sbsk8rdude Last time I checked, Iraq had no plans to invade the United States. Also we can solve this whole Middle East problem by simply leaving and never going back, that is what they want, we have no business there, Israel can take care of themselves.

And, yes, Kucinich can and will win.
linguy22 4 years ago
The fact is: there is no other valuable voice. Kucinich is the only choice at present because of the reasons I mentioned below. Do you think commenting about the only member of congress (Dennis Kucincih) who has submitted a house resolution 1234 to end the war NOW is not an appropriate comment for a Peace Rally video? If you think that, you may need to wake up.
linguy22 4 years ago
I love Kucinich! I just don't think he can win over more than half of Americans... He IS the voice of reason...but we may have to settle for some other valuable voice with a more popular rhetoric. I'm sorry your comments are getting censored. It's probably because you are not really commenting on the videos?
All the best...

I am voting for Dennis Kucinich, because he is the only one who voted against the war 5 years ago and every single time since then.
-Has a plan to end the war, H.R. 1234
-Has a UNIVERSAL health plan that covers every woman, man and child for medical, mental, dental, vision and longterm care H.R. 676
-Moved articles of impeachment on November 6-07 kucinichtv (google it)

I would suggest sir potchgoo, that if you do not recognize the threat of Islamo fascism and the threat it poses to the West, then you are not paying attention to current events and have a poor understanding of both history and Islam. FX I respect your service to our country, my father and grandfather are veterans as well. However, if you have no patience for the liberal left why are you participating in this discussion. I think some of your points are very relevant. Sharia Law sounds frightening but is that method of thinking something that can be weeded out by military action?
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
Thank you, and you're right I should withdraw from this discussion. You question whether Sharia Law can be suppressed by military force. Answer is no. But as I've said, Islam's fundamental mission is to spread their religious view and impose it on all of us "by the sword" as needed. The West's 500-year resistance to the Ottoman Empire is the only reason we are now free to have this discussion. Radical Islam must be contained and we must have the testicular fortitude to do it.
FXMAHO 5 years ago
I certainly want to protect the freedoms that are threatened by "The Faithful." Testicular fortitude is a way to quickly dab at a solution, but how would you specifically suggest that we contain this threat. And shouldn't we also focus on the fact that some of the freedoms I speak of are being purged by our gov't - ie. the mass arrests of protesters during the Republican National Convention.
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
Actually, I meant testicular fortitude as a long-term solution, not a "quick dab". Specifically, we need to toughen up and accept that there is no fast or easy solution. We are in for a long, protracted war, like it or not. "They" will not just leave us alone if we get out of Iraq. Make no mistake, they will eventually procure some sort of nuclear suitcase or biochemical weapon and successfully deploy it on our soil. 9/11 was merely a taste of what's to come if we throw in the towel now.
FXMAHO 5 years ago
On what do you base your statement about a succesfully deployed nuclear or biochemical weapon being inevitable? When one maintains such a pessimistic view on things scarcity mentality arises and we start thinking in terms of "us and them." How long do you suggest we police this area b4 throwing in the towel.. 10 years?
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
For someone who witnessed 9/11 you seem a bit naive. If they're willing to go kamikaze & fly planes into our bldgs why WOULDN'T they go nuclear and biochem? Easy answer, THEY haven't had the means or opportunity. A conclusion based on common sense & oh yeah, every serious geopolitical military expert out there. Do you pay attention to the news? Consider all the missing WMD from old USSR arsenals and Iranian & N Korean nuclear aspirations. Will it take a mushroom cloud for you to get it
FXMAHO 5 years ago
Don't be alarmed by our rights being "purged". Protesters during war always get a little excited. They don't follow the rules of conduct for peaceful civil actions. They get a permit and then violate the terms of it. Happened all through the 60's. The 1968 Democratic Convention is a good example. But we have a strong bill of rights, which will always protect legitimate citizens. Unless, of course you were of Japanese decent during WWII while FDR was running things.
FXMAHO 5 years ago
You just couldn't resist taking a shot at the left. If you are trying to compare what happened in Chicago in '68 to what happened in NYC in '04 you have gone beyond apples & oranges. Plenty of citizens that followed the rules were scooped up in nets. The Bill of Rights is being eroded as we speak by clever additions to the new patriot act.
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
Erockdaboogie makes a strong and valid argument...FXMAHO are you really 87? If so I'm not surprised.
optimaIQ 5 years ago
SO his argument is validated only because YOU agree with it! My points are neither because you disagree. Okay. You got me. And of course I'm not 87, I'm 47. And you sir have just revealed yourself to be a raging "agist". Your clear inference is that someone who is 87 is incapable of wisdom or rational politcal views. Another lefty hypocrite exposed. I bet your against racism and sexism and all FOR multiculturalism, but you are quick to dismiss a "person of age". tsk tsk..
FXMAHO 5 years ago
Think about this:
Optimal wrote that he wouldn't be surprised if you were 87. From that statement you have labeled him a RAGING "agist" that believes a person aged 87 years is incapable of wisdom, and a lefty hypocrite. Doesn't that deterination sound the least bit exessive to you?
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
1st of all, I don't know what deterination is. And the slightly over the top "raging ageist" statement was partly in jest. But there really is no other way to interpret his comment. He disagreed with my argument so he brought age into it as a negative, which factored my opinion as less cogent. Substitute the 87 for black; latin, gay, you name it. It would have been offensive. And Liberals are supposed to be above that sort of bias, so labeling him hypocritical was in order.
FXMAHO 5 years ago
Sorry for the typo, I meant to write determination. I misinterpreted your attempt at jest, so my bad. Also, I see your point about how the age comment could be offensive as you effectively presented it. However, I think labeling liberal gets us back into fingerpointing - and that aint good. Let's just operate under the assumption that we are all MOR.
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago

This can be detrimental enough in forming our opinions, & even worse if we then escalate our behavior to that extreme.
emilyismusic 5 years ago

No.
dmelt001 5 years ago
Are you inferring that this protest supports Islamic extremism?? How??
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
I am saying they are trying to delay or stop what would be a very hard first step in stopping Islamic Extremism (IE). Some people need to look beyond being PC and see the real picture. Look at what has been happening in England and 9/11. That is their vision for the free world. DIE INFIDEL. So we have to fight. Since taking God out of the pict we have to use guns and bombs.
dmelt001 5 years ago
dmelt, you sound frightened, and rightfully so because Islamic Extremism, as well as many other types of religious fanaticism, is scary. I am certainly scared as I want to be safe from this lunacy and I am probably doubly scared as I have children approaching draft age. Nevertheless, this is not about being politically correct. It is something much deeper than that catch phrase. (cont..)
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
This is about us taking responsibility for unnecessarily invading Iraq and continuing a military campaign that seems to only be exacerbating an already terrible situation. How is it possible to fight people that are willing to blow themselves up with guns and bombs? (cont..)
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
I dont believe all the people in Iraq want to blow themselves up, but with the mounting civilian casulties we have definitely persuaded people to strap on bombs. We need a new approach, and I believe taking responsibility for the mistakes we've made will @ the very least lead us in the right direction. (cont..)
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
Dmelt, its also interesting that you wrote the protesters are trying to delay or stop what would be a very hard first step in stopping Islamic extremism. We have blown up homes, killed women and children, and now occupy their country. If that isn't the hard step what would be? Nuke 'em ???

Part II
Grow up kids and learn your world history. WE are the GOOD GUYS that saved the world from colonialism, nazism and communism and we are apparently the only ones with the stones to defeat this new menace. If you are a peace loving American, you must realize that the peace and freedom you enjoy today has been paid for in blood by our fathers and theirs. We need to stiffen our resolve and understand the threat before us or we will go the way of other great civilizations have in the past
FXMAHO 5 years ago
I don't think GOOD GUYS is a suitable evaluation for us. There are other things in our history that make us look less pristine like the bombings in Cambodia during the early 70's that may have killed half a million civilians.
The Iraq conflict is shaping up to be a monumental fiasco, and the blood our fathers shed for our freedoms doesn't justify our support of this misguided effort.
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
If you don't think we're the GOOD GUYS then you've been bitten by the "Moral Relativism" bug. We've never produced the likes of Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot., Castro, or any number of genocidal maniacs. We've been the saviors of the free world and if you don't understand that, again, I suggest you do your homework. As far as Iraq being a misguided effort, hey we're already there! Let's win it and get out! Pulling out would be a geopolitical disaster. Remember the Killing Fields?

Well, that seems redundant. But I guess you need more time to do your homework to really assimilate what Moral Relativism is and how you've been infected (based on YOUR comments) and to understand the Law of Sharia and Vietnams aftermath of the Killing Fields, etc. Kind of proves my point... Duuuuh I'll get back to you on that one! It's okay. There is a steep learning curve here in the real world of geopolitical sensibility, which is not taught at the University of "like whatever dude".
FXMAHO 5 years ago
FX your responces aren't clever, they are ordinary. It's the typical reasoning of a person who does a surface examination of some issues and spouts off some opinions extracted from wikipedia. Your tone is hostile and divisive as you are no doubt emulating the current White House Administration. Does taking that tone boost your self-esteem or is it in the hope that I will disengage from this discussion.
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
You never have anything substantive to say. You've never effectively countered anything I've offered. So pardon my "hostile tone". I am a proud Patriot and a Veteran, who believes that the American way of life, & democracy is worth defending and spreading it as needed to achieve a secure future for my children. I just don't have any patience left for the liberal left and the partisan sniping. If this Iraq thing was Hillary's idea you and the media would be much more supportive. Admit it!
FXMAHO 5 years ago
Fyi I am not a fan of Hillary. I am a life-long New York City Resident and watched the trade center burn and fall from my terrace. We squandered an opportunity to change things when we had the world behind us because that charlatan in the white house brought us into Iraq. It was a colossal blunder and to pretend that it wasn't is an even bigger mistake. We lost credibility and look like "Bad Guys" to the rest of the world. We must fix it!!
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago

Part 1
People who fail to recognize that if we don't stabilize the Mideast and contain the tide of Islamic extremism that is enveloping the world, are destined to fall victim to it. Your children's children will be wearing burkhas and praying towards Mecca all day. It's all in the Koran. It's their penultimate goal and holy duty to convert us, by the sword if needed. And these "useful idiots" i.e. Fonda, Penn, Sarandon etc all want to sing kumbayah and pretend WE are the bad guys.
FXMAHO 5 years ago
Islamic extremism is pretty scary indeed, but is it really enveloping the world? What do you base that on?
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
Google 'fastest growing religions". And pay attention to the news in Africa where Islam is displacing all other religions. Europe is nearing the point of no return with its huge Islamic minorities where a recent survey in Britain showed that 37% (+-) of younger Muslims prefer Sharia Law to Democracy. That number will only grow. If you do not understand Sharia Law and the threat it poses to modern civilization, I suggest you do your homework.

.."tide of Islamic extremism that is enveloping the world", Oh really, and what planet are you from FX. That is exactly the kind of fear mongering that started this whole mess.

p.s
please, help me out with the connection between peace proponents and leaders such as Stalin and Milosevic, who are known for their brutality--i must be a little slow with the logic.

"believe in peace!
more killing is never the answer
let's imagine it"
What a vapid comment! Peace at what price? Peace on the terms of those who want us dead. Peace for the sake of peace is another term for surrender. Look at the groups who organized the protests. They are a mish mash of communist anti-american radical groups who work for nothing less than the overthrow of the American constiuttional order. They idolize Castro, Stalin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Milosevic, and Kim Jong Il.
mattiesdad 5 years ago
It's not that I disagree, it's just that it seems unfair to refer to groups who work for the overthrow of the American constitutional order and NOT mention the Republican Party.
almostbetterthansile 5 years ago
bravo, mattiesdad--you're assessment is a pretty solid imitation of the kind of the political mechanism that got us into war 4 years ago: use some incendiary language, appeal to fear, avoid any kind of logical argument, and connect anyone with a different opinion with a plot to destroy America. Good (though unimaginative) use of the model.
Until we stop subscribing to stereotypical divisions and inflammatory name-calling, proactive discourse is futile.
emilyismusic 5 years ago
Hey, Wingnut,
The American people want OUT of there and we already made that loud an clear or did you sleep through November? And we DO NOT want to extend this madness to Iran.
I was there. Why don't you ASK me who I idolize or STFU!!

Does anyone else recognize the irony in describing a call to believing in peace, cease killing, and using ones imagination to achieve these things as "vapid?"
Mattiesdad, If these civilized goals are vapid or lifeless, what is it exactly that you stand for?
Erockdaboogie 5 years ago
For the record... it's Bush that's shaking hands with Chinese diplomats these days, NOT the so-called "communist" liberal leaders. Your logic makes no sense whatsoever. Its a wonder that people like mattiesdad manage to walk around without smacking into walls since they keep their eyes so tightly closed.

Tell that to those who want to attack us by training to poison our food & water supplies with ricin & botullinum.
miamivic 5 years ago
Um... so let's attack THOSE people then. 5 years and counting since 9-11 and Bin Laden is still free but we've managed to kill 100,000 Iraqi civilians. Go us!
almostbetterthansile 5 years ago
Bin Laden was a free man after the First World Trade Tower attack and the attack on the Embassies in Tanzinia & Nairobi as well as the attack on the Cole. All of which went unanswered during the Clinton years. Is that the way you want it?
miamivic 5 years ago
"Was" a free man? I don't watch much TV, when did Bush capture him?
almostbetterthansile 5 years ago
Capture? Bush FUNDED him. No. Wait. Bush funded the Taliban. THEY harbored him and his terrorist training camps. My bad. Bush funded the Taliban.
