  • whats this song?

  • This form is a very short form compared to the entire length of the actual form. this is Kau Da Kuen i believe. However, this is found in the Lau Bun lineage as well.

  • What is the name of this specific form? I have the vcd and it only says mixed fistic play with cai, li and fo. I don't recongize it.

  • good

    from Italy

  • yes, for over 50 years old, he is good. but you should see him in person....scary.

  • As far as aesthetics go, the only thing that looks different in this form is that the person performing it looks to be taller and skinnier than your average player. There is no doubt that his moves are all clear and crisp and this man is obviously very good. I think people just aren't used to seeing this body type doing Kung Fu. Just an observation, hopefully no one is offended. Thanks for posting it.

  • thank you for posting

  • I totally agree with you Sifu Frank. Jeong Yim, Lau Bun all these good men comes directly under Chan Heung. My grand dad didn't tell me who he learned from anyway, he passed on when I was at the age of 8. I'm pretty much stuck with the Hung Sing's Gei Pun Kuen. (Basics)

  • However, Sifu Lok here may not be the best performer, but in person, his hands and fighting skills are really impressive.

  • Sifu Frank, they know nothing about real southern Chinese Kung Fu. What they need is fast and effective without learning the very basics of martial arts. Kung Fu means Hard work... Back in the old days, students practise Basic Horse stance for a year. I doubt these guys has the patience.

  • regardless of their current level of skill, this is the birthplace of our hung sing choy lee fut. they may not be as good as others want, but much of their material today can be found in Lau Bun's choy lee fut which is one of the oldest choy lee fut lineages to date. but, as my sifu says, "i got mine!"

  • BTW, great video and form by Sifu Lok Gee Hung! The older the CLF, the better! CLF rules! I wished I learned the real Choy Lay Fut in Futshan. There are lots of mixed and self improvised Choy Lay Fut. My Si Gong is from Futshan and so is my Grandad when they migrated to Malaysia. I will make a trip back to my grandad's hometown futshan and learn from the best if they are willing to teach, LOL! You are the lucky few Sifu Frank. respect!

  • Well, fut san has lost alot, and others have given back to fut san what they may have lost. still, lineages from Lee Yan, Yuen Hai, and Wong Sei that still exist outside of Chan Ngau Sing's branch. My sifu has learned sets that the other teachers don't have but they are from Jeong Yim.

  • you know what? There is a lot of mixed and improvised CLF all over the place in all three branches of CLF. Even the Chan Family. I love the Lau Bun stuff because it never changed from the time Lau Bun taught it. However, Lau Bun did teach each individual according to that persons size shape and abilities.

  • HEY, SO ARE YOU IN JAPAN OR HONG KONG?

  • Sir I agree with you. I come from that generation, and todays teachers and students really don't have the patience it takes to become real masters.

  • The form performed by sifu lok is the FUT SAN Hung Sing Kau Da Kuen. Major elements of this form is found in the Lau Bun lineage within its sup ji kau da kuen as well.

  • Well, Dupisha, it looks like you have been proven a fraud. You haven't been with the Chan Family for 10 years or more. You are full of shit. Go back to the drawing board

  • of course we use the sau choi.....tell me what clf lineage doesn't. Since Jeong Yim was only a student of chan heung and learned chan heungs earliest stages of clf its going to be different. that mixed with the fact that jeong yim learned from the green grass monk.. our clf is different to that of the chan family. but thanks for checking out the videos.

  • anyways folks, this is my sifu in fut san.....i agree, and didn't like him the first time i saw him on film. but when i met him for the first time, that man is actually damn strong and fast for being in his 50's. it was the hands on that convinced me to do the bi-si ceremony with him.

  • this wushu is a plague. It creeps into everything. some traditonal teachers from mainland tend to add stuff to make it look flowery. and some go there pay loads of cash. and call themselves masters make me sick. and northern shaolin is the worst!

  • actually, muuch of what you just saw in that form is very traditional techniques.....im from the lau bun lineage, and our school is almost 100 years old....well into its 8o's....and we have the same stuff in our forms as you see here. its just a bad performance.

  • still, i don't see any wushu in what he's doing. all the flowery movements you see have a purpose. but no wushu from what i see.

  • well I actually know a few of them. I was taught this once, but I never bothered to finish it. It might be their training methods or approach. Something just tell me they themselves don't fully understand. I still find the more popular CLFs better.

  • but you have to remember, these are just forms, but i agree they need a to catch up to todays standards on gung fu schools. but we must respect them since they are from the birthplace of our gung fu. well at for the fut san hung sing kwoon.

  • if i'm not mistaken this is not complete. anyway futshan style choy lee fut is crap. too much 'wushu' influence. too flowery

  • what do you know about fut san hung sing choy lee fut?

  • alot friend. but I respect what you've done so far. as for foshan choyleefut. It rediculous. I don't like the movements. maybe in the surrounding areas it might be better though.

  • also if I remember correctly this isn't the full set. futsan always opens the same way

  • nah, its just the first part of the opening. but to an outsider, they have no idea what they are seeing. see what i mean. but yeah, some of us agree, fut san needs some work, but we are all woking at bring back a better face for our system.

  • anyways, thats why i like the Lau Bun lineage, its old, effective, and doesn't look bad. but the wushu is coming from the government, since they are giving money to help restore the old hung sing kwoon.

  • oh and one last thing, pls be nice.....that guy IS my fut san sifu......sorry man.

  • yeah I know how it gets when you train with someone. well I saw your vids and i think hung sing and buk sing are amazing! vince lacey wow! I never thought ppl like him existed. I was there on business for a month. and I checked some teachers there out. Mainland china is too commercialised. there prefer extertainment above usefulness. can't stand all this modern wushu stuff thats all.
