awesome :) and true (amiga died a bit too early, because of that copy-mania and other reasons unfortunately)
I think when I listen(ed) to the track in the game I always noticed that the sound gets subejectively a nuance quiter as long as this sample in channel 3 is playing (that might be the reason), but it fits well to the rhythm, so the sample is very well placed, positioned in that tune.
I had a copy of this game. I'm so sorry :C. We did for backups, yeah! That's right! Floppies were magnetic and would eventually lose that charge so we made a copy! Srs!
It was (/is) a common tradition for the MOD -composers to add messages to the samples. In this particular song the message was in the audio, as commonly the names of the samples will create a full message, when displayed in order.
I still would love the backgroung of this "gag" however as it is original afterall :p
According to the composer, Barry Leitch: "The Speech says "you will not copy this game", we originally had a bit of speech that said "You must kill mommy and daddy" but we didnt have the balls to leave that in the game..."
"The infamous one with the subliminal speech. The Speech says "you will not copy this game", we originally had a bit of speech that said "You must kill mommy and daddy" but we didnt have the balls to leave that in the game"
I know the movie "The Exorcist" had subliminal messages with demonic faces to "inject" the fear directly into the people.
I'm not sure if subliminal messages have been used in more games, I can't remember any at the moment... but they can be everywhere and most people wouldn't notice them :/
I discovered this because I like the music method called "tracking", and decided to check the module of this song... amazingly I found this weird thing in the sample list...
@Shakeno did you do this on an actual amiga, or on an emulator? i've been trying for months to figure it out....cause all i really wanna do is listen to the music of LTC2 can you help me out?
@Nitehawk770 I grabbed the original modules and opened it with OpenMPT in my PC. You can do this by unpacking the ADF file which contains the amiga diskette in a single file. If you are not able to do that, you can always check sites like Unexotica (You can find a good link for it around on the 6th one which links you to a good database of module collections). If it is ripped and on a hearable format, you should be able to find it and download to listen on a player like XMPlay 3.
@Shakeno i have OpenMPT.....im a total noob at this, plus i have the ADF file from LTC2.....now if i can find out how to unpack them from the ADF and import them i'd be set....i think
@Shakeno i think i figured it out......messed with a few things and i have at least the opening theme and another theme i've never heard......openMPT rocks.
I remember hearing this 20 years ago, on the actual game. I was a fan of the game music, and had my amiga connected to a huge amplifier. I actually noticed the robot voice, but I thought it said "DO NOT COPY THIS GAME". I heard it, not on an original, but on a copy!!!!

@TheGSus4 Haha, true, almost every mod composer did, even I did in some of my modules...
I remember doing a drawing using the channels like ASCII art with the notes themselves, I wonder what modules have to make you do that kind of stuff.

It worked! I didn't gave a copy to anybody from my cracked version :D

thing with subliminal messages is you have to hear them and even listening for it its very very hard so that one wouldnt work.

It's called easter egg, I don't think they put it as a 'subliminal message'.

@Nitehawk770 Google for "unADF". It should bring up some really useful tips and tools to unpack the ADF files. :)

I have no idea why they did it... the intention they had? not sure if it was a joke or an attempt to stop piracy... or something else.

It is subtitled as it is said: "You will not copy this game".
