  • nice car but no spare tire!!!!

  • WHY THE FUCK DO AMERICANS PRONOUNCE IT HUNDAY, ARE YOU FUCKING BLIND OR JUST IGNORANT. THERE IS A 'Y' IN THERE. HY-UN-DAI. FUCK SAKE.

  • @trustfire Actually, in Korea, Hyundai is supposed to be pronounced: "Hyun-deh". lol

  • first off

does this car look good in the blue

    second

is this car for guys or girls

  • I will have to say..I LOVE OREGON!!!!!!! AND VELOSTER!! :)

  • I was sooo sure that this was gonna be another "easy" car review, from one of the newer youtube reviewers. Where every cars handling is a revelation and the engine is peppy.

But no,..you guys actually REVIEWED the car. Thumbs up for an insightful and (most of all) truthful review.

  • @Poler777 Thanks for watching! The starry eyed reviews kind of bug us, too. ;-)

  • This car is junk

  • While it is true you can get loaded accent for much less than a loaded veloster the accent feels a lot cheaper when you sit inside.

And veloster offers more high tech stuff.

Elantra doesn't come in manual transmission at top trim level.

  • Give it a Turbo!!!

  • @007texan Ask and you will receive>>>>>This summer this car will be available with a 1.6-liter 201-hp intercooled twin-scroll turbo engine...........

  • @nikemac84

Yes!! Haha I saw the commercial for it just recently. Hopefully this will be a true hot hatch with that turbo. Now I can put it on my list of cars to consider getting right next to a Subaru BRZ, and Infiniti G37.

  • I LOVE PORTLAND!!! thank you for the video!! nostalgic!!

  • You shouldn't be driving if you r going clubbing with friends

  • ...yeah that's because you have shitty taste in cars... and don't insult me as i have likely forgotten more about cars then you will ever know!

  • @82raptor you are just an internet troll or maybe just to old fashion to actually accept that hyundai is now playing in the big leagues and making one hell of a job ati it.

i would take the veloster over a civic everyday. dont get me wrong im not saying that japanese companies make crappy cars because thats not true, im actually a big mitsubishi enthusiast but times are changing and now hyundai is making hot cars !

and thats exactly what japanese companies stoped doing :(

  • @94cvalle if and when you can explain "under steer" to me ill be more then happy to listen to your hyundai talk..... they are cheap for a REASON dude!!

  • @94cvalle agreed!

  • @94cvalle i totally agree, people r so under the misconception that hyundai r the crap cars of yesterday wen infact they r now one of the top manufacturers, i have just purchased and iload, it outperforms its competition in everyway, just as the veloster will, good on hyundai, suck shit hatters, oh yeah

  • test drove one........ STILL a piece of crap!! a twenty some thousand dollar pile of crap that is........ ill stick to REAL cars not recycled scrap metal thank you very much!

  • @82raptor homo works for jap car company i guess.. i'd choose hyundai over jap piece of crap any day !

  • Americans: to stupid to program their own GPS. Not enough skill to shift a naturaly aspirated car at the right rev counts.

I drive one. It's faster then the average Ford or Toyota driving next to you...and expecting to be as fast as a hot hatch for 20.000 EUR...dream on. The GPS is the best I've ever had (I drove a Mercedes B 200 Cdi before, It wasn't (noticably) quicker and had a bad gps system (one of the first built-in). Price vs Value: best coupe you can buy at the moment.

  • @feelTheAir1

please PM me also if you get a response thanks

  • really retarded car

  • I just bought a Elantra last week, it is a Limited version, all leather, gps and nice rims and low profile tires. I have had 3 people come up and aske me what kind of car it is and when I say "Hyundai" they can't believe it. It is a very nice car, and when I say it was only $23,000 for the fully loaded one they can't believe it. The point is Kia and Hyundai are the best deals on the road. Toyota and Honda have great reputations so they can charge more, Hyundai gives you so much more for less

  • @chadheroman Same, I have a Kia Forte SX loaded with all the same options and the sticker was $23,640. Plus rebates and incentives were really good, so I got it for $19,750. Its a steal and I love the car. The elantra is nice too, but I prefer something with more power and something a bit more sporty

  • @chadheroman Could not agree with you more

  • Whoever came up with the idea of only offering a shitty 1.6 I4 engine should be fired.

  • @DickCheneyXX

1.6 Liter 138HP car weighs 2500 lbs. Should be more than enough to be adequate, but not much more than that. 0-60 is about 8 sec. and gets 40MPG. I think it is decent. The Turbo should be coming. My problem is the PRICE.. To get one loaded your in the low 20's... REALLY I can get a Turbo Sonata for $25K. When this car was shown at Detroit Auto show they had it priced at $15K-18K. They should have stuck to that. I can get a loaded Accent with same engine same weight for $16K

  • @kens97sto171 Yeah but you are still stuck with an Accent or Sonata body... Its not as if they dont already have an engine for it. My point is that its clearly designed to look like a compact sports car. Just drop a decent engine and this could be very competitive against the likes of the Civic SI, Sentra SER and Mazda 3.

  • @DickCheneyXX

Well, I guess they will be. The turbo model is coming. 200HP I think. But when you compare it to other small cars it's making acceptable power. Power to weight is about the same as a Civic, I personally would just get an Accent. I like the looks of the Veloster, but NOT at that price. I can get more room about the same performance for less money and the Accent is actually almost BIG inside. I've got a 15yr old Miata for having fun in the corners.

  • i liked it until i saw the interior... why cant car companys make proper interiors anymore.... ill take a early 90's 4g61 powered elanta or a turbo scoupe

  • But 1.6L ?! thats too bad ! if it was just 2.0L Turbo OMG i would really buy this car 0_0

  • @jehadghazi A turbo is coming... Ooolalah!

  • @TV843 when and where ? any idea ?

  • @jehadghazi I've heard it will come out in 2012. It will be in the 200 hp class. I'll send you a link (in your youtube inbox). You've also got to check the spy photos of the 2013 Genesis Coupe in the same article. Apparently the new Genesis Coupe will look a bit like the Veloster--only meaner and the top of the line V-6 model will have 333 hp. Man, cars are finally starting to get cool again!

  • @82raptor hmmmmm I wonder why Wards Auto named Hyundai's 1.6 GDi engine as one of the ten best engines in the world year 2012. But then I know it's a waste of the thought process to try to reason with any delusional idiot (such as yourself) with a peabrain that.loves Honda and Ford. Sad....

  • not a hyundaa fan...... ive driven a few of them and they were some of the worst piles of crap on earth! ever wonder the REASON its so much cheaper then a honda or a ford...... all you have to do is drive a hyundai and you will know! another "benefit" of having a hyundai is that you tell everyone you could not afford what you really wanted so you settled on this piece of scrap metal. for the same money you can get a 2 year old car that wont make you look like a cheap bastard!

  • @82raptor Ford? Fix or repair daily? Honda... I don't think so, unless it's an acura.

  • @82raptor

Hyundai is top in class of reliability and build quality. They have changed MUCH in the last 5-7 years. It is Honda and Toyota that are the piles of crap now days... Ford also is doing very well... like that new Fiesta and Focus. But you really should do some research or better yet go drive one. Try the new Accent... it is the Cheapest car and is much nicer than a Fit. or Yaris. Elantra is WAY ahead of a Civic.

  • If Hyundai turns up the power like they did for the Sonata this could be a future Mazda 3 killer

  • @heroheroic they announced a 1.6L turbo motor with 204 HP headed for this car coming out next month

  • Turbo or bust

  • I mouth wait for the Turbo to decided which I would choose.

  • Still a hyundai, still overstyled, still korean garabge!

  • @hydroboy35th In denial much?

  • @renewer not at all!

  • @hydroboy35th are you stupid no one can say this car is garbage, its an amazing car to look at and seems to have good spec to back it up. ur comment seems retarded since u appear to hate Korea lol.

  • @miloootic 8.5 sec to get from 0-60 and a 17sec. 1/4mile time, you call that "good spec", LMAO. thats is korean garbage!, do your homework kid

  • @hydroboy35th i actually did it,we all know that all cars don't suit all people. this car is aiming for young generation and that costs an average amount.if your only interested in extremely fast cars you should just stick to European overpriced stuff.

  • @miloootic You seem to be fighting hard for the Koreans are you suffering from a minority complex or cant afford Europeans cars, perhaps? And how could you be sure that no one can say this car is garbage and amazing to look at? Looks are subjective and to some people Im sure this car looks ridiculously stupid. Have you ever watched latest Korean dramas? The Velosters are just all over the place it's not funny! Big in Korea and BIG for the wannabes.

  • @MDCSYD yet you are afraid of showing up in a car like this in public??how mature. we all know this is not a VW scirroco but is def something good and new.its foolish to flame Hyundai, since they are doing good job,the new models are so original.people should appreciate a brand that was nothing and now has a name.

  • @miloootic I understand that your young & wanna stay in a certain price range, What Im saying is that there are better cars out there for the money. subaru brz, civic si, etc. If you buy a used car thats only a couple years old and taken care of you get could a way better car from a brand that has some credibility hyundai has no credibility all they do is steal ideas from other manufactures and sell it for cheap. $20k would buy a nice BMW..jus sayin!

  • @hydroboy35th

Korea has not built garbage in the last 5-7 years. You should read some car magazines. They all love the new Hyundai and Kia. Consumer Reports pulled the CIVIC from it's recomended list, and the Elantra is ON the list. That should tell you something.

  • I was interested in its looks but I've been reading/watching videos about how it's anemic because the torque is low at 128 lbs that kicks in late at 4800 rpm. That's way slower than my 2008 Scion xB with 160 lbs torque at an early 4000rpm. The Hyundai also does not have side marker lights built into the side mirrors like the Scion xB. And no, I DO NOT want a turbo due to turbo lag and durability issue; give me a bigger normal aspirated engine please. Guess I'll keep my Scion xB.

  • Offer us a sport model with the genesis 2.0L turbo...id buy one then

  • Its just amazing to think how far the Koreans has come. These are definitely great looking cars and the turbo should be rippers. But again... Im not sure if I would buy a Korean car.... what the neighbours would say behind my back..ya know... I think I'm going to stick with my excellent Focus ST225.... for now.

  • @MDCSYD Well Ford has not a better reputation than Hyundai anyways...

  • @MDCSYD neighbors say behind my back? rofl are you 2 years old or do you have a huge inferiority complex.

  • @miloootic Yes, I may have an inferiority complex because I was brought up as a poor kid in rich school. People who suffer from it try to compensate for their feelings of inferiority by making achievements. They always have the need to achieve in order to compensate for their inferiority and thats why you shouldn't be surprised when you know that a great number of achievers who changed the world suffered from inferiority complex. I am not changing the world but own Golf R32 and ST225 Good 'nuff?

  • I want...no i need...maybe its time to roll my stratus sedan off a cliff..........

  • I really hope they make a AWD Turbo model!!!! Man, that would be a fun car to drive!

  • I like the music in the beginning.. 0:11-0:39 .. anyone know the name of the track?

  • @FeelTheAir1

Please pm it to me if someone tells you thanks

  • @FeelTheAir1 @wichertj the music is called "Urban Myth" by Peter McIsaac

  • Thanks.. you are the bestttt!!!!!

  • @drivingsports Thanks for the track.. Love the track... you are the best!!!!

  • I work at a hyundai dealership as a car sales consultant. Its an amazing car. The only down fall is its get up. BUT rumor has it, that they are coming out with 2.0Turbo model...

    problem solved...

  • @TracOlac Turbo has turbo lag and durability issues.

  • Just looked at one, consider it a 2 door coupe, with the ability to open a 3rd door on the passenger side. Simple. Nothing wrong with having that as an extra feature.

  • hyundai ... you cant be serious. This is the brand of housekeepers

  • Comment removed

  • lol... 17k start? i'll get civic upgrade intake still less then 20k. why would i want to buy a hyundai for almost the same price?

  • Comment removed

  • The most fuckin retarded car reviewer ever who isn't a hint of funny and makes fun of fat ppl yet he's got a watermelon gut, I'd punch the fuck out of him

  • @Bakusaiga66 Get on the treadmill fat boy! There isn't nothing wrong with fat except they overeat, it's not a fucking disease, its a life choice they make to get themselves fat.

  • "pshhhh, my hundai's got a fuckin 1.6L 4 Cillander"

  • Comment removed

  • useless video

  • @2secondman agree so useless

  • "Dumbest car ever" comment is stupid...! Sames as a coupe with two doors if you really want to get in or out the driver side just move the driver seat forward & enter or exit.....! LMFAO...

  • @MsBob933933 Shut up. Dont get yourself in the damn situation in the first place. Before you get in or out the damn car do what normal people do: look throught the damn left side mirror to make sure no car is coming your way. And why the hell would your car be flipped in the first place if u know how to drive? Dont buy the damn car.

  • Dumbest car ever:

    1) Normal people look behind them before getting out streetside.

    2) Dangerous if you need to get out quickly in an emergency (like the fucking car's flipped or on fire or whatever)

    3) If there are 2 in the back and you're driverside, what is this - you have to climb over the other person to get out if you're getting dropped off??

    4) Driver side door now = twice the extension into the street = more dangerous.

Don't design something and then not test it in real life.

  • @MsBob933933 If you've done your research you would know that this car HAS the best crash test rating of its class. 5 stars. And obviously this car isn't for everyone.

    side curtain airbags=standard

    5 inch(i believe) touch screen audio=standard

..... and the list continues. Please do your research.

  • @MsBob933933 Too bad they have tested it in real life, this isn't the first 3 door that has came out(saturn). Like I said, 5 star crash rating. And obviously this car isn't for everyone. But in the same aspect don't knock something unless you know the facts about it not just speculating.

  • Veloster R spec please just give it a turbo charged 2.0 with 260 hp and a vehicle weight of under 2600lbs

  • @SagaraSouske

I agree with you on this one, I myself is ready to defect...

  • never been a hyundai fan, but damn are they ever doing something right. this car looks great and the styling is very modern and beautiful. now only if subaru, misubishi and honda took note of this.

  • @drdouche1 Toyotas looked good in the 1980s then got ugly in the the 1990s but they're back to looking good but not great like Hyundai.

  • @mrpmj00 toyota's look disgusting besides the frs/ft86, not sure which one you think looks good, but that's the only one that does IMO

  • @drdouche1 The engine is an utter failure though.

  • @DickCheneyXX just wait for that turbo coming next year...

  • or Z series

  • rear side is copied from BMW 1 series

  • Does it really feel slow?? god damn... i just orderd my manual veloster, i hope i still like it

  • @Nineteen1911 You didn't test drive one?

  • the most important features for me are comfortable seats, mileage, warranty, sunroof and sound system...i could care less about 0 to 60 and all the bells and whistles

  • some kid at college just bought one... it looks interesting to say the least

  • @19danflo I'v seen about 3 or 4 of these in different colors around campus over the last week. I have to say the black looks REALLY good in person.

  • Comment removed

  • wait, this car isn't out yet, right? that oughta explain that blue-link service thing or whatever.

  • @acacia4109230015 At the morning presentation the Hyundai reps were touting the Blue Link & encouraged us to test it while we were out driving for the day. It should have been working fine, but when we got back at the end of the day, they told us the system was having technical difficulties.

  • I bought the black one in this video~

  • @zyzauto pimp interior

  • Sort of looks like a Capybara to me..

  • I think the Veloster is in most ways a very hip young car that even us 49 year olds like looking at. And the Turbo will add maybe $1000-$1500 maybe to the price.

  • a manual gearbox option...THANK YOU HYUNDAI

  • The car is fantastic and the paddle shifters are really fun, the turns are great, it's got a lot of space, the included equipment is light years ahead of everyone....it drives just fine, and if you want speed the turbo is next year...I'm 6'1" and the back seat is fine for me. Any negative reviews are either from Toyota-loving idiots or people who have never driven the car...its not made to be fast, it's made to be fun and efficient...and it is.

  • They could mention something more about the 3rd door, or I guess we should just understand it telepathically!

  • Why is the other guy so unresponsive...

  • great review... but horrible car... Isnt a 3 door like 2 door and the back hatch?? So this is a 4 door hatch??

  • @brndnew01 why is the car horribe...It's great

  • @Armixs how is it great?? its ugly, heavy, lacks power, and it doesnt get that great of gas mileage.. Not to mention the effects the extra door has on the body... chassis flex much??

  • @brndnew01 ofcourse it's not a sports car or anything.... People reported they get pretty good gas mileage. 40+ highway and like 28-34 city, better than most.

  • @Armixs wow??? why not just get a vw diesel.. i promise it will get better MPG and much much more fun to drive

  • @brndnew01 never drove either, but i really like tdi sportwagen. But don't forget that the veloster is way cheaper than a jetta diesel. And diesel isn't really popular in the usa in simple cars

  • @Armixs its cheaper bc its shit.. and just bc it isnt popular doesnt mean its not a better choice

  • @brndnew01 well the future will tell if it's shit or not. I'd get either though. These cheap cars are meant for younger people, cuz they can't afford the expensive brands

  • This car is nothing more than shit :)) When i saw it first time i thought it was Renault Megan :) They allways steal good ideas. BTW. the difference is very big Renault Megan is much better in every way.

Sorry maybe for someone I'm cruel, but that is reality...

  • @FlyMrFrench no Renault in the US : (

  • @FlyMrFrench "This car is nothing more than shit" LOL what the fuck do u drive a fucking Ford?? Chevy or a shitty Toyota corolla??? Driven the new Genesis coupe V6? motherf@#%@#.

  • Comment removed

  • @Gwegqwet "@Gwegqwet Thanks to God I'm driving a Mercedes C-Class. Sorry again but this car if just a nice copy... I know, I know, the truth can hurt sometimes :)" So u drive a C class? LOL dime a dozen, parked in every corner in Southern california. I drive an Equus which will piss all over ur shitty tinny C class. :) Truth hurts.

  • i have the black one yay :)

  • i like to see a 200hp hyundai veloster! pliss!!

  • This video was well done.

  • as usual, another reviewer who has become to lazy to love shifting complains about the manual.

i promise you, actual owners of the 6 speed manual veloster, of which i am one, think the manual tranny suits the veloster very well.

i drove both...i did not go with the dual clutch.

  • yaaaaay portland, OR!

  • this car resembles the 370z.

  • the black on red is nice lol

  • I would drive it.

  • excellent review.

  • is it just me or guy driving seem really biased to hating Hyundais lol

  • @RaCeR063 It must just be you, because I (the guy driving) really liked the car. The interior was great for the price point as were the amenities, & it handled well. My biggest problem was this: the transmission is geared for fuel economy & I couldn’t coax any power from the engine. The name of the show is Driving Sports not Driving Comfort or Driving Fuel Economy.

  • @theanthroman i see what your saying,my bad haha, at least there making a turbo model eventually

  • So lemme get this straight... my 6'2", 420 pound ass fit in the back of a ford festiva years ago and I wont fit in this? Its THAT small?! C'mon now. Be real...

  • in the description it says, "innovative 3-door coupe." so if i put 8 wheels and 12 exhaust pipes on my honda civic, is it innovative? yes, i guess. is it stupid in every single way? also yes.

  • Class leading style? It's about as stylish as those glasses at 1:50. The term 'catastrophically ugly' comes to mind. Sports bike is the last thing I'd like to inspire my car's design.

  • I actually got to drive one today. For the price, the handling, technology, style, and MPGs more than make up for the lack of 0-60. In corners, it was very planted and fun. I managed to fool the DCT in auto, but in manual, the paddle shifters were actually a joy to use - no 2 second wait for a shift. It just shifted. As somebody who needs control while driving, that's awesome.

I asked the dealer to call me when they got a blue one. For the price and my budget, it's perfect. I can't wait for it!

  • Throw the brother-in-law in the trunk

  • Great camera quality and videography.

  • Not a fan of their new designs, not that I was a fan of them when they were ripping off other models.

  • @XenoRacing Not a fan of haters... Haters are always gonna bitch and cry.... No matter how much Hyundai thrives.

  • Nice daily-driver car, however with ONLY 138hp is going to be hard to pass let say ...a TURTLE! A more performance oriented review will show the real car dynamics of the car. I do not care about MPGs but if Hyundai provides a 180 to 200hp engine option it will be more to my taste. For the green generation, the 138hp or a 2hp engine will do. A car should reward the driver, therefore I rather wait for the turbo one.

  • Champaign, IL...Fully Loaded Manual was pretty weak, only because a car like that needs more power to be a "sportscar"....otherwise the stuff normal drivers care about....I'm 6'1" 210lbs and was comfortable in the back seat, although I would gladly trade the kind of cool panoramic roof for that 2" more headroom, and about 150lbs less weight on the car...it handles great in turns gets fantastic mpgs and is really quiet on the highway...plus the touchscreen allows pics, screensavers, Pandora, etc.

  • @vicmackey1268 the Turbo will be out "May 2012", just like this was supposed to be out "Early summer 2011"...so figure Fall next year....it'll have 208hp with the same dual clutch. As for the 0-60 in this standard, no it's not the greatest, but with the automatic 35-70 (passing power) is just fine...the one we have at O'Brien Auto Park is a white with Black accent fully loaded without leather (it's the same cloth-leatherette as the Sonata Turbo) and goes for $22,580 with destination charge.

  • So what would you say is the 0-60? I know it's not fast but does it feel quick like a Acura Integra did back then?

  • In Europe...people have learned how to program a GPS in 10 seconds.

  • the front looks like yogi bear, but everything else is good

  • Can't wait to see the turbo model. In addition to rivaling the Scion tC and Honda CR-Z, this Veloster ought to be a nice Mini alternative too. The base car already has more power than a standard Cooper, and the turbo model will have about the same power as a Cooper S with the John Cooper Works pkg. Great job, Hyundai.

  • a review where you don't talk about how it drives or handles ?? huh??

  • yeah everybody wait for the turbo!

  • handling?

  • @monkeyman8644 I thought it was pretty good. The rear torsion bar with integrated 23mm bar did a good job. either trail brake in and power through or go in hot...lift off the trottle and the car rotated around nicely! Aaron was shotgun while i was on most of the twisties.

  • You didn't test the turbo model....FAIL!

  • @mehsdomi There is no turbo model in the US. Did you watch the video?

  • @mehsdomi turbo model is has not been revealed yet, but there are plenty of spy pics out. looks like turbo veloster will look alot more aggressive too.

  • this review was awesome...subscribed :)

  • @SuperMeatsause thanks!

  • cant wait for them to make the turbo version :D all it needs is speed, abetter looking grille and a few custom mods :D

  • 10x sexier in black :p and red seats!!! :D

  • es una copio del ford focus 2012

    one copy of focus 2012

  • Hyundai Enthusiast AND reporter for Hyundai Think Tank. haha Thanks for a great time guys! I wish we had some camera's on there while we were carving up the mountain road. Would have been cool to get the guys that crashed on vid too. haha

  • @38tech

Awesome! Man of few words! :D

  • looks good in black!

  • pretty good review kinda revolved around the lack of power, the 1.6 out of the accent which is also better with the auto than the manual. The veloster weights 100kg more than an accent but its packed with way more technology even compared to the top of the line accent in canada but the price is very close to the elantra trim levels more than the accents
