Hi thanks for the comment. I used to have an assy on it but took it off due lack of vision on a congested river. Looking for a carbon mast off a new rules Int14 and large head main. Its not realy faster but is more forgiving downwind due to the top of the main being able to flick out in gusts instead of pushing the bow down.
Yes I have sailed it all last year and in a force 5+ it needs a bit of practice to tack. The top of the sail flicks out in gusts and seems more forgiving in strong winds. I have thought about racks, maybe a project this winter if I can find a 14 mast/sail
I have fitted a mast track so I can slide the mast forward to use the large head sail and slide it back for the STD Vortex sail. As I only sail mono sail I dont go to the open meetings as they are converted to assy. They are a good bunch at the opens and soon help you out if you need any tips so its worth going to one.
how much faster does this make the boat go in lighter winds? As i experienced today, the vortex is rubbish in light airs.
Now that you have the bigger main, you should get the assymetric upgrade but maybe with a masthead kite? that would be interesting.

It seems quite a bit quicker in that amount of wind. Is the new sail going to be larger then?
If your trapezing in that amount of wind, maybe some small racks could be in order to get a bit righting moment.
Have you taken it out in a big blow yet?

Have you kept the original mast step where it is so you can move it back for open events and class racing?
Are you doing any vortex meetings this year? I havent done any yet. Ill have to get round to going to one sometime.
