  • Yesterday, I opened my microwave, it was full of them! I killed about 37 of them! I don't know where they came from :O Can someone tell me how they become to be?

  • Die all those damn flys!!!!!

  • LET THE FRUIT FLYS FREE WITF IS WRONG WITH YOU DUDE!

  • Good video ! You could actually use the catched fruit flies feeding a jumping spider. Thats what I do . Best Regards Tiugin Othman

  • theyre frikkin anoying and now my window smells like fresh poop on the outside of my window there are like 27 of them every day om my house

  • Erm so you put your fruit AWAY so you could make a fruit fly trap? Wouldnt putting your fruit away already have solved the problem to start with?

  • hmm, very sexy, haa. listen I have thousands of these damn things! I am serious,my house is super clean too,but I have two rabbit cages and that is what started the problem. I would put carrots ,lettuce or bananas out as treats for my 3 bunnies, and started noticing some fruit flies, well holy crap,I mean I have tried everything!! Vaccuming them w/the little attachment, smashing them with papertowels, and my favorite spraying them w/glass cleaner and then smooshing them with paper towels!!lol

  • he is just going over what has been put in at least 50 others videos and making a show of him self trying to pretend he knows what he is talking about . i got one you come to my house and hold a banana woooo you know t yellow things ? lol

  • sdav... you've got that right! He wins the sexiest guy talking about fruit flies award! LOL Thanks for the tip! Need to kill those little suckers! LOL

  • tried this method didn't work at all

  • You make a video about you TALKING about how to make a fruit fly trap? Talk about a bad use of a video medium.

  • Fruit flies are really bad fliers. They can fly, but either they can't see well, or they can't control where they're going. Either way, they crawl into the container to get to the food that they're smelling, then when they try to get out, they don't crawl out, they just try to fly out and can't! Voila!

  • @Lovaelihn I've got a shot glass half filled with red wine and plastic wrap over top. It's working really well. There's about 14 dead so far. yay!

  • fruit flies is the most best experience in my life.

  • @Lovaelihn If you are going to bait them with fruit, I only use a little piece of fruit as bait. A little is all ya need. Then an hour or so later, the jar is full of them. Then I zap them with bug killer and throw it outside. If you take it outside with the bugs alive, they will just be back inside. Instead, do this and exterminate as many as possible. Very effective. I've done this for years.

  • haha i loved watching this guy just talk lol. but thanks!!! ima try it, seems easier. but why dont ppl just kill the damn flies? thats what ima do!

  • I used Keg cups with 3 small holes on top....caught about 150 flies. Took cups outside and gave the flies a nice Raid shower.

  • Screw that I would throw a napkin in there and light it on fire I'm sick of these flies you leave three little fruits out and there swarming my house I will do a little extermination to the the fruit flies today lol.

  • Thank you!!! I've been itching with bites all week so I'm going to try this. Maybe you could put another layer of plastic wrap once you've caught a lot without holes so none escape. :)

  • The same method works even better with apple cider vinegar mixed with a teaspoon of sugar. My house was infested with these damn things and I got rid of them in about 3 days. Be sure to make several... the more you make, the more you'll kill.

  • you should put some poisen in it so that they can die right away

  • @Gosmner Wow, that's pretty wild. :)

  • This video is less about catching fruit flies than it is about a guy talking far too much, flinging his ridiculous haircut to and fro.

  • you're just spreading the plague. KILL them before disposing of them

  • man il kill them once there traped

  • I thought I was the only one.

  • take them out and let them go?! why not KILL them all ???

  • exactly that is what i thought. why the fuck would you let them go and reproduce outside your house so that more can come in? K I LL THEM !!!!! it's as stupid as catching the enemy in battle and then letting them go!

  • the paper in the cone in jam jar is much more effective

  • this vid could have been a lot shorter for such a simple concept

  • you have purrddyy eyes lol. and nice advice, i'll try that.

  • fill a cup of vinegar and wait for 2 hours

    50 dead

  • Tried that, BB. My flies seem immune to the alluring effects of vinegar.

  • ty dude

  • I used a plastic parfait container with a lid...poked a few holes in the top and I noticed an immediate difference. The females aren't as spastic as the males...so to my knowledge, none of them have escaped yet. They are quite interesting to observe...when they're not flying around your face and stuff.

  • your cold!!

  • His cold? What are you talking about?! He doesn't have cold!

  • You mean he's 'cool' implying you're wetting your panties.

  • you're the sexiest guy i've ever seen talking about fruit flies

  • haha, thanks sdav. I hope I win some sort of Fruit Fly spokesman award.

  • The fly's aren't coming from your fruit, it's from that dead black poodle you're wearing on your head. :D

Tip: instead of catch and release, giving them a quick 20 second sauna in the microwave is quite entertaining. The iron in their hemoglobin causes them to spark! Easier to see if the light is out in the waver. FUN for the whole family.

  • If you leave the banana in the jar for more than 2-3 days, the eggs that the flies laid will hatch; a few days later you'll have another generation.

PROTIP: Use vinegar or cheap wine instead of fruit, replacing the liquid every few days as it loses its pungency.

  • 3:03 - 3:04

The same thing happens to me in my drum kit! These little flies get stuck inside one of my drums ( the drum has 1 small hole at the side which they enter from ) and they get all mad and I lol at them xD

  • lol

  • dude thats a good trap i'm about to make myself one i got about 5000 at my place now this lilshts are driving me nuts ..... thanks for the idea broda take care !

  • we have like 1000 running around, y cats enjoy playing with them sometimes. but im gona try this...

  • how big should the holes be? and thanks ill try this!

  • I poor in one part vinegar one part water and a drop of dish soap. The vinegar attracts the flies (as it smells like overripe fruit which the flies want to feed on and lay their eggs on) and the dish soap breaks the surface tension. In other words when they go down to feed they'll get pulled into the mixture and drown. Works like a charm!

  • Hey Matt, I've been seeing a lot of fruit flies around the kitchen recently, so I wanted to try making your trap. Just one question though: how big should the holes be (i.e. what should I make the holes with)? Would a needle be ok? Thanks!

  • KAY, i went from, 'How to make lollies'

    from 'How to make nugat'

    then

'how to get rid of fruit fly's'

and now im on your video. DAMN, is this what boredum does to you!? D:

    Kso, you have nice eyes.

Thought id atleast says omthing positive, since ic ommented. :3

  • Thanks, Danii.

    :)

  • Us gurnaides.hay a fly boom hay look boom frags work best the high explo. dont work as well.

  • Try putting other layers on. Poke different holes in each layer.

  • you should have a venus fly trap you can put the flies in and watch the flies get eaten, searves them right for being annoying and spoiling food

  • Maybe I should get one, slayerslash5. Are they easy to care for?

  • i dont know but i have a small one and i take care of it like a normal plant like giving it some water and having it in the sunlight. it has it's first flowers today :) and its growing

  • ew!

    i hate any bugs

you did a greate job getting them

i hope they leave your fruit alone!

  • Aceblade,you're so clever!

  • I'M SOOOOOOO BORED.

  • GO CATCH SOME FLIES,

    degausser8.

  • let them out?...i would wrap it again and trash it

  • use a plant something fly trap

    it can work

  • Yes, you're probably right,

    Halo3flood.

  • when ever u buy fruit such as bananas always, always give it a good wash really good to help keep the fruit flys away!! it really helps i have bananas now and i dont have fruit flys, give it a good scrub from top to bottom dont and u wont have any problems also of your fruit even if u put it in the refrig.

  • I'll give that a try,

    sonebone7!

  • yea they get stuck on the Paper plate. and eventually die. painfully and slowely. LOL

  • Okay. I Just caught 100 Fruit Flies in 25 minutes... Aggressively & Manually. Here's how.

Get One large Paper Plate. Any Oil You'd Like. Spread a thin layer of oil On the whole surface of the paper Plate. And off you go. you can take ur anger out on them at a rate of 5-10 deaths per minute! Just Smack AWAY!!!

  • They land on the oil?

  • Sorry, I wasnt trying to be a smartazz, many people do not know the difference between fruit, drain, moth or sewer flies.

  • yea, cus EVERYONE has sewer flies in their house...*sarcasm*

  • This works good on fruit flies but not on drain or sewer flies. Check out my video on drain flies.

  • i just watch that vid... cuz of you beautiful blue eyes ^^ over and over again :D

  • Thank you, DieAika. How very nice.

    :)

  • i am honest^^ youre welcome ;)

  • You're barking up the wrong tree,

soccerstorm22. But kudos to you for barking at all, because most of us here at Your Generic Company were beginning to wonder about you. Keep up your fantastic batting average, amigo.

  • Yay! Thanks

    rachaelsharma!

  • kill the fucks instead of letting them out, EVEN if it's outside.

  • y? isnt that kinda douche bagish? lol

  • I know a better way to kill fruit flies, they like water so you will find them hanging out and partying and having sex by the kitchen sink, watch them from a distance of about three feet, pull out a lighter and a can of hair spray, 1,2,3 spay and flick the lighter at the same time, point at the flies, you will burn all of them in one shot!

  • With my aim, I think I would be the one getting toasted, PARRAVISION.

    ;)

  • thanks man, i have a stupid fruit fly problem, i just figured out what kind of fly it is, so i guess its my flatmates fruit he leaves out thats doing it lol.

  • They reeeaaallllyyy like bananas, sheenahardaker !

  • thanks for the great info. however, i did find it funny when you said two of them had already escaped.

  • Excellent idea!

  • just vaccuum them all

  • Want to keep them away????

Try cleaning your kitchen with Dawn dishwashing detergent, it worked for me.

  • lol, what!? Really??

  • I've just gone back to my cup of Earl Grey tea and guess what??? about 5 of these little bastards floating around on the surface!! only left it for bout 5 mins!!Hence why I'm on here!!

  • eww! That wouldn't taste good, Lolly!

  • i wanna know how to kill them after they get trapped cause they can make a hardy meal for my fighting fish

  • It should be pretty easy actually,

Daproblem187. Once you see enough inside the trap for your fish, just seal off the container with another sheet of plastic wrap. That should cut off their air supply.

  • or microwave them.lol.

  • Try putting them on the fridge! Basicly they'll start hibernating!

This way you have a fresh food supply for you fishy! ;)

  • or you can just run genetic experimentations on them considering they are the best model for genetic studies..you can have a colony of over 200 in a few weeks..manipulate the food supply and watch some serious evolution and competetion going down..

  • Haha, I'd rather not have to deal with THAT many, smerrigan

  • That sounds awesome.

And I doubt I would let the flies out, I'm just that cruel, I'd probably get my handy deodorant and torch them. =)

  • well you could speed up the fps a little

  • I don't think that will help with the fruit flies, string227.

  • well if that wont then what will!

  • Rotten bananas!

  • good thinking ;)

  • use a glass of vinegar. then when you catch them they are dead and no one will have a problem with them laying eggs. try it

  • They're attracted to vinegar, vballrose2?

  • It's weird because fruit flies come even when it is cold outside. I think fruit flies live in the fruit, well at least their eggs do and they hatch and thats where they come from. Oh and I don't put banana's in the fridge, yuck! Any other suggestions.

  • Use the trap---that'll fix it!

...just, don't leave it too long because they begin to breed and lay eggs on the glass!

  • oooo so thats a bananna

  • omfg lol ther go insain?

  • What,

    copperfists?

  • I tried this. It really works. We only had pears though.

  • I left mine too long, KT04x and there was eggs allll over the top of the trap.

    :|

  • Yes, you must

lost3xmen! But, be careful...if left too long they lay eggs!

  • fruit flies are crazy,,,0_0

I see aLOT after the day we bought our fruits...0_0

everything you said is so true.. hahaha!!!:)

  • Those darn fruit flies,

    sasusaku01.

  • Yeah, my mom had the great idea of having a compost bin right near the sink. Yeah, that's pretty gross. You have to remember to close your mouth when you do dishes so they don't fly in.

I'll try the trick though. It seems pretty effective. :D

  • i' got a compost bin in my garden & when i open the lid[about twice a day]swarms of the little beasts fly straight at me.trick is 2 open the lid really quickly & jump back out of range, keeping your mouth closed, then smother the blighters with grass cuttings!you could try putting a fan next 2 your fruit & blast the swines away!

  • haha, my compost bin does the same thing when I open it, HunnyOnion.

    :)

  • lol you think you could make something like that for spiders?! sssmmmooosshhedd..ALL GONE!

  • Maybe if you smoosh a ton of flies in a jar and leave it out, the spiders will go to the jar, LynnM86?

    ;)

  • I TRIED to release them after the video, but the dumb things cling to the banana! And then I shook it and because they were clinging, they got smooshed between the banana and the glass sides. Dumb flies.

    :P

  • Fruit flies are the bane of my existence. I normally have 20+ servings of fruit in my house at all times, I hate them!

  • Give the banana trap a try, Odidnetne!

  • lol, spray them with what, Dreamer23245???

  • napalm

  • lol

  • why not just cover the food and spray the motherfuckers 'till they die in the most horrible and painfull death ? i mean.. if we're gonna waste a banana lets at least try the easy way of gasing the sons of bitches first..
