that guy in the orange is Dan. It says it right here. I found this information and no this DID NOT come from wikipedia.
Later when the SFZ series came out, Capcom decided to make Dan a special secret character in SFZ1, he had no storyline back then. Eventhough he had a pink gi (to make him more rediculous), they also added the original orange Dan to the game. When you fought Sagat, you could see his fight intro, where he held Dan just like he did on the drawing. This was just a gag.

I agree, its Dan, not Go. I saw the official art with Sagat holding a bloody Dan. It was originally supposed to be a pot shot at SNK for them ripping off Ryu and Ken by making Ryo and Robert. But then they decided to make him a joke character.

That was Go Hibiki, Dan's father killed by Sagat on a previous Street Fighter Tournament. The one who destroyed Sagat's right eye.

I never really liked Ryu, especialy in this game's ending. Who the fuck does he think he is, being so preachy and all?
Maybe he can talk about 'fighting with skill, not anger' when he gets a deep scar wound by an opponent also.
Or a dismembered leg, a testicle that is speared, an eye that is dug out and eaten raw, etc.
