  • Oh lord....that voice.....

  • Yes I agree, truly an angelic man , with an angelic voice.....!!!! I really love this song and the video that goes along with it. Such a very gifted man and performer. So very much love, warmth, and wisdom flows through the lyrics in his songs.Justin enthuses kindness and generosity. A true gentleman amongst men.....!!!! XxxX.

  • This song always makes me think he was in alot of pain at that time, through his experiences he's reached out to us and made us his fans. I have been in such awe of his musical talents for about 25 years now. He is the voice of an angel, a superman who can touch me with a word, a note, a look from his bright blue eyes. He makes me feel good, hopeful, energized, and every song makes me smile. I hope he has true happiness and joy in his life and continue to sing and tour as long as he can.

  • At age 52, I'm finally secure enough in my masculinity to admit it.....I LOVE this man!

  • I've enjoyed the music of the Moody Blues for over 3 decades now. I've seen them live 3 times. From that exposure, one can really appreciate Justing Hayward's talents as a singer, a songwriter and as a musician. There are many who can excel at one. He excels at all three. He's an exceptional talent in one of the rock era's great bands.

  • I am 57 years old, and I have been listening to, and loving the Moody Blues' music for years, especially Justin's music. And I now have a renewed respect for him as a songwriter, knowing that several of his songs, like New Horizons, which served as projection screens for my own romantic longings, were actually love songs written to his deceased father. It only makes me love his music, and respect him as an artist, all the more.

  • @gwesleycrow Just made 59 baby, as men and women in my city can call one another regardless of age differences. Because I grew up with it, I never noticed it until I was in my vogue 3-piece suit (at 29) and ordered a Po-boy across a crowded lunch counter. I had become a self-important professional and forgot I was just another local. I was humbled. So I have feelings, and I thank you for that insight into this song considering I am not a poet.

  • Another tear splash!

  • I would not be alive, if not for this song. Literally. Thank you Justin, for seeing me through it all. Then AND now.

  • Love this voice. Love this song. Love this album. I grew up listening to "Seventh Sojourn". My late father had it on vinyl, which I still do have. Thanks for this version, MoodiesFan.

  • Justin Hayward! You have given me so much of my life! Where would I have been without YOU! We have grown old together! What a blessing! I feel that way about so many! I am truly blessed!

  • he is just amazing!

  • @eelise Indeed. He is 6'2" and a fast runner. Considering his enormous energy and drive, he could have been an outstanding wide receiver on an American football team.

  • @MyPaulHenry

He could be an Angel, for all I know.

  • @pricla777 Interesting idea considering his seemingly superhuman gifts. His solo videos sitting on that stool with just a guitar and a mic have motivated me to start seeking out professional guitar lessons. I doubt that I have talent because I tried years ago without a tutor, and it was just too hard. But I still have my guitar, and my cousin just bought a 12-string and we have re-hooked up. So we plan to jam together once I can't hold him back. He loves the Moodys too.

  • In the Red Rocks concert of '94? VHS/DVD I recall Justin saying his father passed during the making of Seventh Sojourn. He was very fond of his father and described him as "gentle."

  • Comment removed

  • @GSXbyBuick Maybe that is where Justin gets it from "gentle" I view him that way too!

  • @GSXbyBuick i do remember Justin saying in an interview that his father was the kindest and most gentle man he met in his life. sweet...

  • absolutely fantastic.....saw the Moodies a few weeks' ago in Vancouver....still amazing after all these years!

  • He wrote this for Marie when she was pregnant.

  • Beautiful Remedy Song for the Soul. Timeless and Complete. Thanks.

  • Beautiful voice, beautiful lyrics, beautiful music, that is what Justin Hayward means for me. I am glad I am a fan. He started out when I wasn't even born, so I'm glad that his music forms part of my childhood's and now adulthood's background music :) God bless you & what you do, Justin. Please keep it up as I simply close my eyes and just listen to your melodious voice & wonderful music.

  • Genius no words can describe.

  • X Factor, Pop Idol, Bone Idol, do me a favour. This is pure class. The man is a genius. If only everybody found the answer in love.

  • Just discovered this site. Music fills and completes the sole

  • Justin, you're so precious!

  • And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

  • @sunflower7431

    Amen!

  • So beautiful, and such a beautiful person Justin is, a true treasure.

  • I love this song and all the other songs that Justin and the Moody Blues have ever written and sung <3 <3 ............

  • After Paul McCartney, Justin is definitely the guy I would want to meet. A vastly under rated musician, no doubt!

  • ...Reflections...Of A Great Heart And Spirit.....Rock On ....Justin.....

  • Justin suspiciously looks and sounds like an Angel...

  • This is his best song, so full of mixed emotions, and is always my favorite performance of any other JH song.

  • all of justin hayward's music is very comforting, all of it!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song has long served as my 'special, quiet place' where I retreat to get away from the hassle of the day. I put on the headphones, close eyes and let the song wash away the tension and restore the peace of mind. Thank you Justin.

  • I just saw the Moodies at Pechanga in Temecula last Friday night, for the fourth time. I never tire of them, and Justin is as good as he ever was. This video is so wonderful, it's beyond words for me.

  • @mammamia1955 What always made this song special to me is that he wrote it about his father and daughter. glad to hear the Pechanga show was good.

  • @coyoteartist

He is an orchestra with his guitar, especially his twelve-string. It is amazing how he does not use bar chords. You Tube reinvigorates the love for the Moody’s. Notice how rapidly he goes up and down the neck with Questions without bar chords.

  • Masterful !

  • New Horizons is one of so many beautiful songs Justin has penned throughout his career. His music is timeless and heartfelt. I never get tired of hearing his music. My life is complete with God and this music.

  • Who could try to cover this? Justin Hayward; Moody Blues...my all time favorites for many, many years. That Guild JF30-12 is probably the sweetest maple body 12 string guitar I've ever heard. Many copies, only one Guild 12 string...

  • Good play !

  • This song is just absolutely beautiful. Everytime I hear this song it just touches my soul and emotions on every level. Justin has a voice that just peirces your heart with its captivating beauty!! Justin is just so beautiful! Oh how gorgeous of song this is. ILY Justin!! Phenomenal!! ♥♥

  • good looking, talented musician, brilliant poet....hell yeah I'm jealous

But I know I'm going to find my own peice of mind one day

  • How are the strings tuned?

  • this and 'In My World' are 2 of the best 12 string vocalised songs ever written and sung ... period ..

  • I am going to see Justin and The Moody Blues in just 5 more weeks at the Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, WA and I cannot wait!!! To see and hear the Moody Blues live is going to be a dream come true. Justin Hayward is one of the best singer/songwriter/musicians to ever live and the Moody Blues music will endure forever. They are THE BEST even after 40+ years.

  • What we have here is 5:02 of evidence proving that gods walk among us mere mortals. My jaw was on the floor from beginning to end.

  • Beautiful....just Justin and his guitar...this songs always brings me to tears....such a hauntingly beautiful song.....

  • this selection of studio acoustic versions is just excellent. Justin should consider touring them as a one man show if he's ever at a loose end......Cambridge folk festival headline act for 2011 i reckon...

  • @MultiDean75 This may be my last Moodies concert but I'll try my best to make it to the 2011 April 29th @ Cynthia-Woods if at all possible.Wish me luck, no way they'll even think of doing this version but thanks to MoodiesFan bunches for the upload.......................and to pen another favorite...Till The Day We Meet Again ! Lifelong Fan lcadams2

  • @larryadamsnice I do hope its not your last Moodies concert. If it is, I hope its everything you could want it to be. Peace. Richardwil

  • Hi, I find your music beautiful and real than the entire U.S. and UK charts. Thank you. Greeting Edith

  • Heartbreakingly beautiful song.....breathtakingly beautiful man.... Justin has such a wonderful talent and a beautiful voice,,,,,, Simply fantastic as a songwriter and a musician......LOVE LOVE LOVE Justin ......

  • This is my ALL-TIME #1 favorite song. It very literally saved my life when I was 17. Was two steps away from suicide after my first love dumped me for my best friend (the "nightmare come true"). This song...the lyrics...helped me move on with grace and hope. THANK YOU, Justin. For my life...35 years later. :)

  • @LolasTubular

Kinda funny as I used to listen to the moody blues when I was 17 and depressed and it made me worse. I'm married with 3 kids now and I'm listening to them again. Only kidding, it seems different now, don't know why.

  • Can anybody tell me what guitar tuning he's playing this in?

  • the best guy called justin in the whole world wouldnt you agree

  • Absolutely amazing. It will stop any in our generation in our tracks.

  • He does a nice job, slows the song down a bit, those 12 strings take time to play and resonate nicely,,,,nice job Justin,,,,from a long-time guitar player myself....proud of you, mate!

  • it's a 12 string

  • LIVE,LOVE and LAUGH

  • L O V E and that's all.

  • Beautiful - thanks for posting.

  • This is REAL music, REAL talent, no props, no fancy costumes, no half-dressed women, just pure talent and that is all that is needed when its real.

  • This song has always touched my heart so deeply!! Such a powerful song full of real emotion that just pulls at your heart strings and the tears just flow!! Justin's voice just gets deep in your soul!! So beautiful!! What a beautiful man he is in all aspects!! His voice is so angelic!! I hope that I find my peace of mind some day as well!! Phenomenal!! ILY Justin!! ♥

  • Priceless and timeless...what else needs to be said.

  • I've loved this song since I first heard it when my brother played it on my parents HiFi turntable in 1972. Though the initial version on the Seventh Sojourn Album is amazing, this solo version is by far the best. So personal, so beautiful. Thank you Justin and thanks for sharing.

  • Wow..what tuning is that guitar?Ive got to play that one! great performance.

  • another great song

  • Pure awesomeness...

  • ....The Sentiment ...So Beautiful....So Enduring....So Magical.....Such Truthful Human Insight....My Hand Is On My Heart.....

  • I don't even know what to say...How could someone give a thumbs down to this?

  • Comment removed

  • @twigglypiggly16..This is the acoustic version the original is on SEVENTH SOJOURN Moody Blues.

  • This is outstanding. Where does this come from?

And, the tuning, BTW, is, low to high DACFAC.

  • We were looking for the perfect song to play as we signed the register at our recent wedding - it had to be this one and the non Moodies fans in the audience promptly commented how beautiful and appropriate it was. How right they were - and the song played as we left the ceremony? ' I know You're Out There Somewhere' - a great day!!

  • @redtoupee First, congrats on the wedding! The music is perfect for this and the non-Moodies fans are starting to get what we already know, their music just gets better with time.

  • It's so obvious by this video why his fan base is so far and wide...no need for him to be in the RRHF! His talent speaks for itself.

Whenver I turn anyone on to his and the Moodies' music, they always say "I didn't realize they were still so good!"

What an honor it is to be a fan.

  • One of my favorite songs from Justin. What a talent and you can tell he has a good heart!

  • Yes, jtsantafe, Justin sang this at the concert! It was a FREE show at the M&I Bank classic rock stage, at Summerfest. The seating was first come, first served...... and fortunately I got to sit in the EIGHTH ROW!!!!! The show was FANTASTIC!!! (((( BIG SMILE)))) Needless to say...... I took alot of pics.

  • Jinchengfan.... My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. The Moodies can sure stir up the emotions and send you places. Everyone grieves in their own way and there's no set "time" to stop. I lost my 23 year old cat back in March and certain Moody songs do it for me when I'm thinking of him. I don't mean to compare my loss with yours.... I think you understand. God Bless and keep being strong for you, your son and your family. :)

  • Marie is one lucky lady to have such a wonderful man to share her life with. I 've never heard anyone, who's met Justin, say anything bad about him. I'll be seeing The Moodies tommorrow @ Milwaukee's Summerfest.... and really hope to hear this song. LOVE ,LOVE, LOVE THE MOODIES!!!!! XXOXOXOO

  • @truebluefan36 Just curious if they played this when you saw them; it's been a long time since I've been able to see them, but was fortunate to have seen it done live. Hope you got to enjoy it live also.

  • New Horizons was playing in the background when I was proposed to. My husband and I have been married for 10 years now. This song is especially meaningful to me in more ways than one!

  • I never thought this song could get any better and then I stumbled across this. Absolutely beautiful. The video was wonderful, too.

  • Thats the same Gibson 12 string guitar that Gordon Lightfoot would use.

  • i remember sweet baby....that nite we made love and got into a fight...love u

  • This is one one of my favorite Moodies songs. Justin's in terrific voice. I didn't realize he did this unplugged version.

Wouldn't this be amazing with a symphony orchestra?

  • @misterjag Find the Live at Red Rocks DVD. He does this with an orchestra. It's beautiful

  • I wonder if he has found his "own peace of mind" as the song says? World class songwriter and singer, absolutely puts the garbage music of today to shame.

  • Great job Justin! Twelve strings never sounded any better! Me and and old girlfriend use to wear the grooves off of the LP

  • Dieu que c'est beau !!!!

  • when people say, who would you invite for your all-time dinner....i say, just two names....Michael Wood, and Justin Hayward

and i'll make sure there is plenty of wine so we can talk through the night

  • Thank you Justin.

  • So lovely this song.

  • i have the moody blues box set every song on it is brilliant. justin hayward just has one of those voices that fits the songs he sings.he puts heart in his voice. seventh sojourn is my favorite moodies cd.

  • This song saved my life. I was feeling suicidal after the death of my son....while planning to do myself in, I thought 'What would I miss the most when I'm gone'....and put on some Moody Blues music. This song started playing and I couldn't do it. Thank you , Justin Hayward. I've found so much more to live for since that day. God bless you for saying what I needed to hear on that day, no matter how many times i had heard it before.

  • thinking about you after your very sad news......the song means even more to me now...x

  • @Jinchengfan God bless you. I have had an experience with similarities. Some of these songs evoke intense feelings now. Just like life -pain and bliss. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Cherish life.

  • @Jinchengfan I totally relate to your post. I was 17 years old when this very song saved me from doing myself in. It helped me see a way through heartbreak and loss, with hope and dignity. Justin is truly an angel....I just wonder how many other lives he's saved. xo

  • I don't think 10 John Lenin's put together on their best day could make a song like this.

  • best Moody Blues song

  • The voice softly swimming in lake of melodys..

in was in most of my fav. cassettes.

  • One of his absolute best...love this version, along with all these acoustic solo ones. Helps me learn how to play them correctly.

  • always a great song of the moodys, still my favourite of the stuff, full of depts and wdths,,,,,wonderfull Justin

  • simply wonderfull

  • Moodies. Right behind The Beatles! What an honor.

  • TOO AWESOME

  • Tuning is DADFAC

  • Tuning is DADFAC. It's a good one to play around on as I am finding out.

  • ya that guitar tuning is bizarre, you can hear the orchestra in it, or more notes than you would expect from just straight sturmming... clever

  • A beautiful song-originally recorded in 1972, but this wonderful performance is from 2004 or 2005. It is so refreshing a song that it could have been a brand new song today and done well, IMO

  • This song is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. FYI - it is from the album Seventh Sojourn, 1972.

  • Beautiful song Justin is awesome

  • what a song...this guy and the moodies are so underrated. I suggest for another wonderful listen....find "Never Comes the Day"

  • Brilliance.

  • I believe this is from about 2004 or 2005

  • this is from the album seventh sojourn, 1972.

  • just a wonderful song

    and a wonderful singer

  • Such a great song... From The Heart.

  • What year - specifically - is this clip from? Eitherways, he has NO RIGHT to sound that good so much further on.

  • Finer in this one man, one instrument version.

    Pure and plaintive.

  • IM IN HEAVEN!

  • unique.. just unique

  • I feel like I'm floating on a cloud of hope peace, and tranquility when I listen to this wonderful song performed so flawlessly. Thanks for posting.

  • Absolute Quality !!

One of the voices of the century...

Think that's my favourite place too....anybody know if it is St Ives ??

  • This gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it, the emotion that flows through the lyrics, watching Justin and his daughter, the lovely guitar, its enough to choke anyone up.

  • Just WOW. I'm crying to much to write anything else. Just WOW...

  • @LarryTheCitizen Larry, do you have any extra Kleenex? I'm crying too. Just beautiful...

  • I am one from those who knew this song well...

  • Justin has it all: great songwriter, great singer, great musician. This is a stripped-down version of one of his most beautiful songs, and his performance is beyond fantastic.

  • That voice......that voice....it is so beautiful. He has taken care of himself so well that it sounds absolutely wonderful even at an older age.

  • One of the all-time great Moody Blues classics!

  • I think he's 62, And i know he is!!

  • One of the very best is Justin - a diamond of a songwriter - pure class!

If you haven't checked out all the Moody Blues albums - do it!

    Magnificent band.

  • I have the DVD of this. It's great. Justin has just got even better with age. Love this though.

  • this was a nice video, and it was really neat to see his little daughter with her pony. Thanks so much for sharing.lol

  • One of the all-time Moody Blues classics. Awesome!

  • THAT WAS UNBELIEVABLE, all those years gone by, still unbelievable, such plaintive vocals, rich-sounding guitar! What a talent.

  • Guild 12 string in DADGAD tuning. Beautiful!

  • Thanks, MoodysFan. Consummate musician at his absolute prime.

  • I love the MB's. Justin is one of the greatest guitarist ever. I would rather play my 12 string guitar than my regular 6 string.

  • Justin Hayward is so phenomenal

  • Pity he's 63yrs old now

  • Getting old is natural - pity those who never get to be old.

  • I think he is still 62. He will get 63 in October.

  • He's is 62yrs old till november.

    I apologise to you Martianfan.

  • Tudo muito belo! Harmonia perfeita:voz, letra, música. Autêntica perfeição estetica! mais parece uma música, como o título diz, de outros horizontes.

    vcoimbra

  • Unbelievable....he truly is "The Voice". What passion and grace in his words and voice. There will never be another like him. Jay

  • 7 years since my dad's passing... It's an excellent healing tool... Justin's words and passion are liquid gold. -Dan

  • This is excellent! And one of my favorite Moodies songs...and great video also. //dan

  • This is one of the reasons I bought records! What a voice, musician, lyrics. I didn't know he wrote this song about his Dad. My Dad passed away a couple of years ago and I don't miss him. I often told him I loved him and appreciated what a good man he was. There were difficult times between us but he always meant well and I am a better man and father for having had him in my life. No regrets Dad, I love you!

  • when i hear this song i miss my dad just as much as Justin missed his dad when he wrote this song..

beautiful......maybe i will find "my own peace of mind someday "

4 years but i still feel alot of pain..

  • The tuning is DADFAC...see my video of it...do a search for "new horizons guitar cover" to see it....

  • Justin still sounds great after all these years. He really retained his singing voice.

Unlike Paul McCartney--one of my favorite singers..but let's face it, he's lost his voice almost completely to old age/smoking?

  • What tuning is he in for this?

  • He's playing in FADFAF. But, I would be concerned about creating too much stress on the neck of a 12-string by tuning the more heavy gauge top pair of strings up to F. So, I have my 12-string tuned to DADFAF and have learned to play it in this tuning. Works quite well.

  • Turns out it is DADFAC.

  • I stand corrected. DADFAC works much better. Except it looks like he may be playing with the top strings open, in which case it would have to be FADFAC. But. I'm not going to push my luck. Now, if I could only sing as good as him, maybe I could quit my day job.

  • My God what an incredible collection of songs Justin and the rest of The Moody Blues are leaving for the world to enjoy. I've been a fan for most of my life and will be to the end. I never tire of this amazing music.

  • .....From The Heart.....Touching The Spirit.....Justin My Dream.....

  • You are the songwriter man. I love how I remember you, All alone among the fields.

  • Justin said he wrote this song after the birth of his daughter Doremi. He said it changed his outlook on life completely. "Love for 3" is him, his wife Marie and his new child. The "precious gift" is the life and upbringing from his parents. The song is a tribute to his parents for his past and his looking to the future as a parent. The "nightmare" is the death of his father. This is not dubbed. it on a dvd i have but can't recall. Justin is one of the worlds best guitar players.
