Man this supposedly ghost road is a joke, I went there with friends about 8 times and all this so called lights and mysteries all have a logical explanation. There is no such thing as a ghost or ghost light, and whoever believes there is, is just plain stupid. Sorry just telling it like it is, do some research and visit the road multiple times and you will see for yourself that there are no types of paranormal activities going on.
@darkkick I've been here dozens on dozens of times over many years and before them giant signs went up. I don't live far away and I've only seen what I think is the actual light twice and it lit up the whole woods. Once it wasn't even night fall yet.
@NotTooFar936 Really? That sounds pretty interesting, I guess I'm just disappointed I haven't seen anything abnormal. Even so I still love going there every once in a while it's very nice. Who knows maybe one day I'll see something lol
This is justy one of the many fascinating parts of the Big Thicket.. I truly love the history and beauty of this littile known gem.. My grandpa worked as a surveyor for the rail road in the 40's and my childhood was filled with countless stories about the Thicket and all of the mysteries it contains.. absolutely fascinating place.
ok so i actually live in saratoga and have all of my life and i have seen the light on many occasions. i cannot and will not try to say what this is, but i do know that it is not a car and it is not explainable. you have to see it in person. then u believe that its real. but from personal experience, its nothing to be scared of, but the Bragg Light is real
I went the night before and then last night again, this is the way it looks.
NO it's not a car, the first night I went a car did pass us and when we first saw the car down the road you can see two head lights, and they turned their brights off also.
after they passed, minutes later the light came back. It was a single light flickering and becoming bright, and dem over and over
my 44yr old dad said it's the creepiest road he's been down in his life.
i live in saratoga, and it really does happen. these videos dont show half of what really does happen. me and my friends go all the time and it is fun. we see something different every time. a flash, coming very close to us, zooming over our car, etc. it does it all, or so we think. lol but if you havent been, you should go!
its scary as HELL!!! I went last night and the light didnt go away when we turned the brights on just a silouet of a man holding a lanturn and it slid off into the woods
Its a shame university of houston went there in 95 to investigate, and said it was car headlights... I find this funny since Saratoga's Sheriff had an ordinance back in 1907 forbidding people to shoot at the lights...See this is funny cos in 1907 there were no cars in mass production even if all, and if there were they would have had weak dim latterns instead of headlights.... funny huh.
I have been to this road and seen this light for myself. Even video taped it my self. It is really a strange thing to see. The light came to within 50 or so feet of me then disappeared. I have it on tape.
It is real. i used to live around there. there is more than just that light there are orbs and devil worshipers to. there alot of ghosts. take a better look and you will see it
I've seen this light before myself, it was not so dull as people describe it. this video is a joke compared to what i've seen with my own two eyes. it really looks as if a vehicle is just coming down the road from a distance in this video, hitting a bump here or there with the lights on. the experience i had was much better. what i saw was a british orange orb that lit up the trees around it. in front of and behind it. we did not pass any oncoming vehicles that entire 7 mile stretch of road.
I work for the railroad out here in Beaumont texas im an engineer with the bnsf railway. We see the light all the time when we pass through it usually has to be cold below 40 degrees and slightly overcast. I have picutres and video of it, sometimes its a greenish color sometimes orange. We dont think its any kind of ghost thing, some of us have tried to touch it but it always seems to vanish as you get close it must be some type of illusion but if we turn the engine light out it is sitll there
I went there last night. It was overcast and around 40 degrees. I saw something. I'm not sure what it was but it does match your description. I'd be interested in seeing your pics and vids of the light. my friend said it was blue. I saw red. i couldn't tell if ours eyes were fooling us but yes, we saw something.
Mr Soriig. if I may ask how do you view the light by rail? Bragg Rd runs perpendicular to the tracks. you don't happen to mean Old Bragg, which runs parrellel do you? No offense or doubt meant here, I'm simply asking to get an understanding for myself.
These lights have been seen all over saratoga. The Bragg area is just popular because it is completely dark so its easy to rule out a natural light and its the popular spot that all the people go to. The Bragg siding that we pass through is off the highway where the Bragg scenic ghost road is. We,ve seen it around the tracks which I guess would be parallel to the highway there, I cant remember highway number. That scenic road im told is for tourists and the light never shows there.
@soriig I know that if you follow Hwy 770 to what is a curve in the road that turns to a dirt road after leaving Saratoga, you have found Spooklight Road or Bragg Road.
I live near Saratoga. I have driven to Bragg Road , parked the car, also drove slowly with the lights off. I have seen the globes of light they are the size of a soccer ball and glow a dull orange. They are NOT car headlights because we saw one floating about 25 feet above the road. AS it approached us it lit a tree behind it. I later paced the tree off to be 70 yards away.
Atmosphere and refraction can make a light source appear higher by bending the light. The sun, nearing sunset, appears to decelerate as it approaches the horizon, and flatten in proportion. It's because the sun is actually beyond the horizon and atmospheric internal reflection carries it's image around the ground to our eye. The light you saw might have been much lower than your eye perceived.
Yes but this lit up the tree behind it as it passed in much the same way a lantern would being carried by someone. The tree it lit in that manner was 70 paces away because I checked it. You could not see the horizon anyhow because we were inside where all the trees were. I was a dull orange sphere about 16 to 18 inches in diameter that floated and moved around then winked out after it had come within a certain distance.
im not saying your lying, but when i saw the light, it was a good distance away. I'd have to say about 250yds away. i didnt see it lgith anything up either, probably becasue it was farther away. but do you agree that the light came to full brightness slow and then dimmed the same amount of time?
If that were not enough, one night while parked , lights & engine OFF, I was bored and thought I saw something moving.
It was so faint I used "offset vision" as you do in astronomy when looking at faint star clusters. Dude I shit you not this damn greenish, shifting blob was floating towards me. After a while , it became one of those orange lights, then it winked out. It was paced off, a distance of 30 yards when that happened.
Changing the color of light is even easier than changing it's perceived position.
Use Google Earth for a good overhead lay of the land and observe the road and how it's basically impassible in the center but the two ends have cars scaring the heck out of each other with their distant headlights being distorted by the woodland's atmosphere.
All I know is that I have seen these things approach the parked car in the dark in much the same way you would know someone carrying a lantern was within so many yards of you because the very ground below it was lit up. We also made certain to park where we could no longer see oncoming cars. The tall trees had it all blocked.
went there earlier tonight saw the ligh a good ten times scary shit man

Does anyone know anything about a cemetery in the area where there is supposed to be a headstone facing backwards? Supposedly a witches grave?

There was a civil war battle there and Union troops surrounded Confederate forces and set fire to the woods burning all of them.
