In afghanistan they speak farsi too, actually the original old farsi language is still left in Afghanistan.

The language that the people in Iran speaks right now is mixed up with new words and also arabic words too, so in Iran they speak the new version of farsi and in Afghanistan they speak the old one.

Dude, in Afghanistan and Tajikistan and part of Uzbekistan, people speak Farsi; However, it is another version what we speak in Iran, and they may call it Dari or Tajiki, but no matter what the name is it is still Farsi. But just Iranians are called persian becauseas you said the name of Persia changed to Iran and not any other country.

farsi is the official language of the Iran Islamic Republic so it is used by 49% of iranian population who are not iranians for example Qashqai, luri, arabs, kurds, turkmen, azeri, baluchi etc. and persian/iranian language family is widespread, widely used in Afghanistan and Uzbekistan for example. Tajik language and dari can be known as eastern dialects of farsi...
