  • What was Purnima's real name? What happened to her, is she still alive? Can anybody let me know pls. and how is that she is grandmother of Emraan Hashmi?

  • super songs hear touch lyrics

  • Maan ... what a killer son. Long live Latah-CRamachandra.

  • Gr8 Song .... I Like this song

  • Well she is Neena Alias Puresrar Neena

  • @kokokorina She is Purnima not Purasrar Neena.

  • another gem mirza jee .i love this song also

  • as far i know the details of late shyam, ashok kumar, naseem banu.nargis given are covered in the book MEENA BAZAAR not GANJE FARISHTE.it also mensions about pran&kuldeep kaur.AND WHY AM I SIUBJECTED THESE TESTS OF YOURS SO FREQENTLY?

  • @NANDIKHANNA Manto's articles on Shyam and other actors are very informative for younger generation as they provide an insight into a long bygone era of Bombay film industry. Your name has never been mentioned in any of my comments. I fail to understand what tests you are being subjected to by me and why you feel offended.

  • sorry.the last sentance was not addressed to you but to YOU TUBE authorities for mistaking me for a computer not human being.regards.

  • as far i know the details of late shyam, ashok kumar, naseem banu.nargis given are covered in the book MEENA BAZAAR not GANJE FARISHTE.it also mensions about pran&kuldeep kaur.

  • @NANDIKHANNA Articles on Shyam, Ashok Kumar, Naseem Bano (aka Pari Chehra Naseem), Nargis, Babu Rao Patel and a comical sketch on V.H Desai ( a failed lawyer who became part time failed actor) are all contained in Manto's book titled "Ganje Farishte". I know this positively as I have this book beside me now. Article on Shyam is titled "Murli ki Dhun". About the book Meena Bazar, frankly speaking, I have never heard any book by Manto with this title. However, I shall confirm and let you know.

  • @meena bazar was first published by RAJKAMAL PRAKASHAN in 1962 in hindi/urdu(devnaagri script),i still have that book, spread over ten chapters NARGIS,NASEEM,ASHOK KUMAR,KULDEEP KAUR,SHYAM,SITARA,V.H.DESAI,TEEN GOLE,ISMAT CHUGTAI,MERI SHADI.I NEVER HEARD OF GANJE FARISHTE though i am frequent visitor to two big bookstores,HIGGIBOTHOMS&LANDMARK.recently i bought another book by MANTO STARS FROM ANOTHER SKY(PENGUIN) going through superficially ,some narratives were similar to MEENA BAZAR..REGARDS.

  • @NANDIKHANNA Manto's book was originally titled Ganje Farishte as its last chapter, which contains his own commentary, has the same title ( total 13 articles). It does not contain articles on Kuldeep Kaur, Pran ,Sitara or Meri Shaadi (all of which I would very much like to read ). It appears Indian publishers took some articles from his other books and published them under the title Meena Bazar. (posted from Lahore)

  • the book i mentioned STARS FROM ANOTHER SKY has 13 articles namely ASHOK KUMAR,V.H.DESAI,RAFIQ GHAZNAVI,SHYAM,NARGIS,SITARA,NAWAB KAASHMIRI,NEENA,BABURAO PATEL,PARO DEVI,NURJEHAN,NASEEM.two have read,in AK a incident is similar as in MEENA BAZAR-AK being close friend of SHM went to drop him (in turbulent times soon after the partition)passed through a muslim locality, manto was scared for AKs life, but nothing happaned.muslims were thilled seeing AK,shouting ASHOK BHAI ASHOK BHAI.book is worth .

  • @NANDIKHANNA Ganje Farishte was published during Manto's life time i.e in early 50s. ( actual pronunciation Mantu - like one-two). It has 12 sketches and the 13th is his own commentary, titled Ganje Farishte from which the book gets its title. 13 titles are: Mera Sahib( interview with Mr. Jinnah's driver), Agha Hashr Kashmiri, Akhtar Sherani, Teen Gole (Mira Ji), Bari Alig, Ismat Ghughtai, Murli ki Dhun (on Shyam), Naseem Bano, Ashok Kumar, Nargis, V.H.Desai, Babu Rao Patel, Ganje Farishte.

  • @NANDIKHANNA Paro ( Devi) was a mujra dancer from Meerut who went to Bombay in mid 1940s to work in films. Manto has written a sketch on her titled "Mairuth ki Qainchi". She got this title in Bombay film circles due to her eloquence learnt as a mujra dancer. Once she tried to seduce Ashok Kumar who was a budding hero at that time. Please type "songs of film Sargam" in the search box and see her and my comments on songs "Jab dil ko satai gham" and "Sa re ga re sa ni, tinak tin tani".

  • @orientlover1 yes i read mairath kee kainchee..but who can forget MURLI KEE DHUN ,sketch of shyam..my very dear friend balraj manra has edited five volumes of mantos works in hindi..it is a very precious collection of mantos creations....its called SAHADAT HASAN MANTO DASTAAVEZ....it is no translation ..the stories are presented exactly the manto wrote them..RG

  • @NANDIKHANNA Paro can also be seen in 1965 colour film "Aarzoo" starring Rajindra Kumar and Sadhna. She makes a fleeting appearance at the beginning as a house maid. That was probably the last time she appeared in any movie.

Note: there is an older 1950 B/W movie Aarzoo also, starring Dilip Kumar and Kamini Kaushal.

  • thanks for information/seems we both have similar interests.i am 65&very fond of movies of 50s,60s.we will be in touch.regards.

  • MEENA BAZAR WAS FIRST PUBLISHED BY RAJKAMAL PRAKASHAN,NEW DELHI IN 1962,SPREAD OVER TEN CHAPTERS,NARGIS,NASEEM,ASHOK KUMAR,KULDIP KAUR,SHYAH,SITARA,V.H.DESAI,TEEN GOLE,ISMAT CHUGTAI,MERI SHADI.I STILL HAVE THAT BOOK.RECENTLY I BOUGHT ANOTHER BOOK BY MANTO SRARS FROM ANOTHER SKY(PENGUIN),TRANSLATED IN ENGLISH BY KHALID HASAN,GOING THROUGH SUPERFICIALLY ,YET YO READ,SIMILAR INCIDENTS AS IN MEENA BAZAR.

  • she is sooooooooo cute!

  • Emran Hashmi isPurnima's grand son and purnima is Mahesh Bhatt's mother"s sister.

  • @shubh37 What was Purnima's real name? What happened to her. Is she still alive?

  • how is she related to emran hashmi

  • Such tragic sweetness... Have no idea of the story, but breaks my heart...

    Thanks for posting..

  • Saadat Hassan Mantu, a close friend of Shyam and famous Urdu short story writer, in his book Ganje Farishte ( Bald Angels) describes how, he along with Shyam and two others - all four in a drunken state, started running bare footed on deserted roads of Pune at mid-night and clinked bells at every temple on their way while sleepy pujaris came out rubbing their eyes surprised at these untimely visitors.

  • @orientlover1 Thanx for all information

  • Shyam was a native of Rawalpindi. He married a woman named "Mumtaz" . It is said that Pakistani TV actress and producer Sahira Kazmi ( wife of TV actor Rahat Kazmi) is daughter of Shyam born of his marriage with Mumtaz. However, Mantu's article on Shyam makes only a vague reference to his children ( said to be one daughter and one son)

  • Urdu short story writer Saadat Hasan Mantu has written a detailed article on Shyam film actor in his memoires titled "Ganje Farishte" ( Bald Angels) during his stay in Bombay from 1942 till 1947. Book also includes articles on Ashok Kumar ( another close friend), Naseem,Nargis and many others and gives graphic details of life at Bombay film studios during 1940's. Mantu wrote stories for many Bombay films of that era.

  • Lata didi ka jawab nahin !!! Thanks for posting this GEM of Lata+CR combination.

  • Shyam was best friend of great Urdu writer Sadaat Hassan Manto. When Shyam died Manto was in asylum. He wrote a beautiful piece of memoir for him. Shyam it is said, is father of Sahira Kazmi, brilliant Pakistani T.V. artist and director.

  • thanks for uploading this song....a beautiful song....well written, well composed, and very well sung of course by Lata ji...

  • Another great song with superb music composed and directed by CR harmonizes well with the angelic voice of Lata M.

  • So this is Shyam! My brother used to gather us boys up- me and cousins - and take us to Chaina Creek just outside and north of Bombay on Ghodbunder Rd (to Thane from Borivli side) for spending a few days in the guest house by the river. I was told Shyam fell off the horse he was riding during a film shooting and died there at Chaina Creek. Many thanks Mirza ji.

  • @nandu1f he died from head injuries sustained after falling from horse back. this happened during shooting of film "Shabistan" which was released in 1951. he was close friend of urdu writer Saadat Hasan Mantu who has written detailed article on Shyam in his book Ganje Farishte ( Bald Angels) and includes articles on many other Bombay film characters like Ashok Kumar ( another close friend ) and several actors, directors and producers of that era.

  • raw lata and c.ramchandra are geat in thissong. its poornima singing the song, she acted as a charctor artist in films up to recent times.

  • Lata Ji innocent and perfect skilled voice with complete expression. thanks dear vipin Bhai for sending me this video, up by IMIRZA777, a YouTube channel. Khalid Asghar, former Station Director, Radio Pakistan, Lahore. (02 Oct 2009)

  • The beauty of Lataji's early voice was its thin quality, which made her delicate murkis resonate in our ears with all their crystal-clear purity. Those murkis poured all their honey into our hearts and souls, with us asking for more and more. This is that kind of song. Thanks, Mirzaji.

  • SHAFIQbeautifull song----for last 50 -iam listining

  • Thanks Mirzaji.........i have this song on audio CD but saw the video clip only due to your posting. One can see why the world fell in love in young Lata's voice. One small correction: the composer's correct name is C. Ramchandra. The C stands for Chitalkar, the name he used when he himself sang songs (and a very good singer he was!). Pity we ignore the poet always......I'll post the name later.

  • Lyricist is Rajinder Krishan.

  • @rumahale
