Everybody just shut up. Stephanie Meyer has her version of vampires. Anne Rice has her version, and so did Bram Stoker. We don't criticise Bram Stoker because his vampire was truly different compared to what ancient civilization's vampires were precieved. Now, shut up and enjoy the music.
how could people possibly compare this to twlight? stop mentioning it! this movie is a masterpiece, twilightis teen garbage with no point, no moral, no nothing. its empty, lik this generation.
this movie is a reminder to all that being a vampire and being an immortal is not at all what its cracked up to be. we are not soley meant for this world, and you can seejust how miserable vampires are. if there were such things as immortals, this movie i think would be very true to wat it would be like, sadly.
This movie is the real, Anne Rice movie. not crap like twilight. fuck that. Interview with the vampire shows the story how a corpse possessed by a demon would feel like. and who said vampires shine in the sunlight? they burn up and die.
@MyBloodyValentine011 I know ! like , no . Edward is just a little girl that uses too much hair product , and spilled glitter all over himin the claires isle . Louis and Lestat and Claudia are REAL vampires !
@GiulianaHawk408 Anne Rice, Bram Stoker, John Ajvide Lindqvist, the real writers..:) stephanie gay-meyer didnt even earn a degree in literature no wonder her stories suck
@MyBloodyValentine011 i know . everyone says stephaniemeyer is a good writer, but honestly,i read twilight. the book is worse than the movie is. i read interview with the vampire, and the book and the movie are both phenomenal . this is true vampire stuff.i hate how they try to be all melancholy in twilight when theres nothing to be sad about . "OOH ! i have to choose between hot jacob and cold edward ! oh no ! WHATSHALL I DO! i have to pick between a hairy werewolf and a sparkly little girl!" lol
This movie is the real, Anne Rice movie. not crap like twilight. fuck that. Interview with the vampire shows the story how a corpse possessed by a demon would feel like.

@YmustTh3w0rldG0r0und Well! :) Wait until the sequel to Interview with the Vampire, THE VAMPIRE LESTAT, gets made into a film. Yup! The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, the best vampire literature next to Bram Stoker and James Malcom Rymer, will be returning back to the big screen to kick Twilight off the map. But Tom Cruise isn't coming back as Lestat.
@weinmj Check the article for the book on Wikipedia. Plus, Anne said on her facebook page a few times that she was negotiating several properties (novels) of hers with producers as many are interested in adapting them into film.
@YmustTh3w0rldG0r0und Your so right . people say they love twilight and that stephanie meyer is and amazing writer and edward cullen is a real vampire . no , its anne rice thats amazing , its lestat and louis that are the greatest vampires . i hate new vampire movies !
Everytime I watch this movie, and that song comes on, and the camera slowly zooms in onto the city...I'm sucked into a world that I never want to leave...Love this song and thanks for uploading the soundtrack I could listen for days on end to them all =)
@MissGarland18 OMG ! me too . i have to watch this movie all the time , because it takes me into a whole other world . it makes me feel great to say that INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE IS WAY BETTER THAN TWILIGHT !
This song went amazingly well with the beggining of one of my favorite films! It was just so powerful, almost like it sang to you and said, "Sit back, watch, and experience a life only few will ever experience." Interview with the Vampire=Best film of the 90s!
Still after many years this is one of the best vampire films ever done. Almost entirely free from special effects this film relies on the heavy emotional impact delivered from the actors and the atmosphere the setting creates. Today technique is more advanced yet not many films are as enchanting as this one. They are doing something wrong in Hollywood these days.
@Jesyce86 Thank you! You took the words right out of my mouth! I don't see why such a huge audience is attracted to the Twilight Saga rather than this wonderful film :)
I just love this song so much. It's beautiful and dark at the same time. And the music that I have as an alarm in my cell: p love. I love the movie. It portrays a wonderful time...
Absolutely love this song! It's just so beautiful and the movie was awesome as hell! (far better than some Twilight crap -.-) Btw does anyone know other songs like this???
@Vesipisarani - try 'Lilium' from Elfenlied (part of a soundtrack), Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell, and of course, Faure's 'Libera Me' (Requiem, op. 48-6).
I totaly forgot about this song, it's an incredible piece. Anne Rice has true talent; The Vampire Chronicles are by far the best series I have ever read.
Am I the only one who expected Libera me from hell the song from Gurren Lagen?
Eh...Too depressing for my taste. And before I get berated by the comments of over enthusiastic virtuosos. I don't mean as in I don't like more classical music. But when I read stories, and listen to music I expect to be uplifted. Not brought down.
The vocalizations sound pretty, and the music conveys great emotion, but anywhere but film I wouldn't want to hear a song like this. Its like a funeral dirge.

wow..i remember as a kid i loved this movie. (still do) but its so strange to hear this music after so long...puts me back in the days of a care free life...such a long time ago...
IWTV wasn't accurate, but at least it was a good film. That is plenty more than can be said for QoTD. Love or hate the book, the movie is nothing like it and at best is a music video for some good bands and worthwhile for being Aaliyah's last performance. Or maybe for keeping around as a drinking game...
Anyway, I love this song. I need to find the lyrics to it, if anyone knows where I might find them....
3 summers ago, I could never remember a dream unless I fell asleep to this song, and woke up to it. It can convey so much sorrow...
Word to the wise, if the movie is already out, watch it before you read the book. It is better to love the movie then love the book rather than love the book and hate the movie.
this song makes me cry because it is so beautiful......I used to listen to this with a friend,we were best friends and then things went wrong with us I guess you could say......but I love this movie!and I love this song XD
Hi obsessiveweirdo240, thanks for posting this it's my favorite track from that soundtrack. I hope that the little linguistic debate between me and Diablitatraisionera do not bother you too much; it's a bad habit of mine that if I see something very incorrect I have to put thing right to the point that I become an obsessive weirdo ;) Keep on the good work and if you put some track from queen of the damned it will be cool too (I have all my Lestat music on the same place :P)
you are the fucking idiot if you cannot tell the difference between Spanish and Latin.
Beside, if you would have seen the movie (or at least listen to the soundtrack) you would have seen that the title of the track is called "Libera me" in 2 words...or perhaps people from Geffen record are also fucking idiot in your world?
But if you want to prove to me that you are not a complete moron name a Spanish gregorian chant; i'm sure there is not so prove me wrong PLEASE!!!
same to you brainless idiot, Spanish is Latin, Latin is Spanish, why do they call Spanish people in "Latin" America "Latin"? moron =\
and the moviemakers got it wrong too their also as retarded as you for thinking theres a space between the word "Liberame" wich means "Liberate Me" in english
Let me destroy your argumentation, even though I'm an idiot.
Latin american describe people who spoke a language derived from latin such as Spanish and portugese; from that definition even Quebecers or french canadian could fall into that categorie since french find it's roots in latin and greek. And by the way you did not prove me wrong yet
Saying spanish is latin is as dumb as saying that english is german because they share the same roots.
Furthermore, Diablitatraisionera if we follow your reasoning english is both latin and german cuz it's roots from those 2 languages.
Beside don't try to screw me with linguistic question cuz, like it said on my profile, i'm multilingual, wich mean, if I drop to your level I can call you an moron in more languages that you can name but i'm above this :P but i'll just say that you should to drop it
BTW etymologically speaking your username means "he who reason based on defamation"
you cant drop to my level because first you need to get as high as my level, your so stupid that you think German and English dont come from Latin, and that Liberame, the way that its spelled and pronounced only uses the Spanish form of Latin, not even the closest related, like Italian, French and Portuguese
your not the only person ive had to educate about where Latin comes from and what words according to how they are spelled, use the form of Latin is corresponds to in this case "Liberame" is using the Spanish form of Latin and not any other, even the stupid movie makers and soundtrack people got it wrong.
Actuallu educate who??? My native language is french, second english and I understand spanish quite well (both speaken and written). I also have basis in russian, greek and latin (3 hindu-european base language) so I konow how those languages were form and the similiraties and difference between them and it's a pleasure to correct you on misinterpretation but now it's getting ridiculous. You are stuck on that stupid conception that you are right and the universe is wrong; man you got issues
aha you idiot, english and german both come from Latin, any language with the Latin alphabet (abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz) comes from Latin, the Romans( who were Latin) once ruled from Isreal to Spain to the northern parts of England and forced the people to learn the Latin language, it was after the Roman Empire fell that different forms of Latin spawned but still using the Latin alphabet, there is no other form of word other than Spanish where the word "Liberame" is pronounced and written
Actually latin and german come from a larger group of languages call hindu-european wich include latin alphabet based language but also slavic language, wich use the Cyrillic alphabet (wich is based on greek alphabet), of course greek and sanskrit, among other. Now why don't you just quit it before making more of a fool of yourself cuz it's evident YOU CANNOT WIN ON THIS ISSUE :P
I know my history.... and im not trying to win anything you are.... and i also know that Latin itself is derived from Greek, the Romans adopted its alphabet but molded it according to their dialect, if i say something in Greek (πού προέρχονται από) youll see its very similar to Latin, you know history but i know more than you so dont try to educate me on something i already know...
Its no longer an issue between winning or losing; it's about truth and half truth. I won't argue with the fact that roman language (as far as other aspect of there culture like there pantheon) is derived from greek-macedonian heritage. But I will argue with the fact that not all french speaking people understand spanish cuz, even though both have the same latin roots, they have different vocabulary and grammar, those differences make liberame a 1 word in spanish and 2 in latin both correct
As soon as i found out that this was a book i HAD to read it and so glad i did. Am now on my way to completing my collection of the Vampire Chronicles :)
The world stay the same with is rules and laws. Being set free from all that by being reborn in a form that put's you above all that, cheating even time and death, that is cool... and yet sad cuz the price is eternal darkness...though choice...
Indeed; it was Louis wish that Lestat granted but by freeing him from life and is pain he put him in a world of eternal solitude and darkness with only the void of death as an ultimate salvation.
Guess there is some truth behind the saying "Beware of what you wish cuz the worst thing that could happen is seein this wish come true"
really good music and excellent movie. I've never read the book on which the movie is based, but Tom Cruise was excellent as Lestat. Damn shame that a planned sequel got nowhere.
You really got to read the book cuz it's awesome (although the movie was very good).
I also like how Lestat sumarize the story in one of the chapter of "The vampire Lestat" the second book of the vampire chronicles, cuz it tell us the "other side" of the story. If "Interview with the vampire" depicted what kind of creature Lestat is, "The vampire Lestat" tell us why. As for the other book they allow us to look at other aspect of this world of darkness created by Anne Rice
I read that "Queen Of The Damned" was really bad. Oh, we can only wonder what would have been if "The Vampire Lestat" had been made, with Tom Cruise reprising his juicy role as Lestat.
"Queen of the damned" the book is ok, not the best of the series, but not the worst either. The film on the other hand is a terrible mix of events from both The vampire Lestat and Queen of the damned (good soundtrack though :P).
Cruise performance in IWTV was awesome but the other book show us Lestat the musician so Peter Murphy from Bauhaus (for the gothic part) or Axl Rose (for the attitude) would have been more suitable choices in my opinion.
from what I read, after "The Vampire Lestat" was cancelled for some obscure reason, the production company that produced "Interview" didn't do anything else. But when their options for the filmrights were about to expire, they hastily hired two writers to condense "The Vampire Lestat" & "Queen Of The Damned" into one movie.
Oh, I thought the film was rather good compared to the book. Not AS good...no film ever is, but I thought it had an excellent cast, excellent soundtrack and a very good script as it was written by Rice herself.

Mongolabateri 2 years ago
you cant drop to my level because first you need to get as high as my level, your so stupid that you think German and English dont come from Latin, and that Liberame, the way that its spelled and pronounced only uses the Spanish form of Latin, not even the closest related, like Italian, French and Portuguese
Diablitatraisionera 2 years ago
To get as high as you I had to be on some solid hard drug so I think I pass...
Mongolabateri 2 years ago
your not the only person ive had to educate about where Latin comes from and what words according to how they are spelled, use the form of Latin is corresponds to in this case "Liberame" is using the Spanish form of Latin and not any other, even the stupid movie makers and soundtrack people got it wrong.
Diablitatraisionera 2 years ago
Actuallu educate who??? My native language is french, second english and I understand spanish quite well (both speaken and written). I also have basis in russian, greek and latin (3 hindu-european base language) so I konow how those languages were form and the similiraties and difference between them and it's a pleasure to correct you on misinterpretation but now it's getting ridiculous. You are stuck on that stupid conception that you are right and the universe is wrong; man you got issues
Mongolabateri 2 years ago
aha you idiot, english and german both come from Latin, any language with the Latin alphabet (abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz) comes from Latin, the Romans( who were Latin) once ruled from Isreal to Spain to the northern parts of England and forced the people to learn the Latin language, it was after the Roman Empire fell that different forms of Latin spawned but still using the Latin alphabet, there is no other form of word other than Spanish where the word "Liberame" is pronounced and written
Diablitatraisionera 2 years ago
Actually latin and german come from a larger group of languages call hindu-european wich include latin alphabet based language but also slavic language, wich use the Cyrillic alphabet (wich is based on greek alphabet), of course greek and sanskrit, among other. Now why don't you just quit it before making more of a fool of yourself cuz it's evident YOU CANNOT WIN ON THIS ISSUE :P
Mongolabateri 2 years ago
I know my history.... and im not trying to win anything you are.... and i also know that Latin itself is derived from Greek, the Romans adopted its alphabet but molded it according to their dialect, if i say something in Greek (πού προέρχονται από) youll see its very similar to Latin, you know history but i know more than you so dont try to educate me on something i already know...
Diablitatraisionera 2 years ago
Its no longer an issue between winning or losing; it's about truth and half truth. I won't argue with the fact that roman language (as far as other aspect of there culture like there pantheon) is derived from greek-macedonian heritage. But I will argue with the fact that not all french speaking people understand spanish cuz, even though both have the same latin roots, they have different vocabulary and grammar, those differences make liberame a 1 word in spanish and 2 in latin both correct

''i am going to give you the choice i was never given''
makes you think that Lestat's maker obviously knew how to choose those that would make good vampires, unlike Lestat...
Great movie and great music!

Libera me, Domine, de morte aeterna
in die illa tremenda
quando coeli movendi sunt et terra,
dum veneris judicare saeculum per ignem.
Tremens factus sum ego et timeo,
dum discussion venerit atque venture ira:
quando coeli movendi sunt et terra.

Deliver me, O Lord, from eternal death
on that awful day
when the heavens and earth shall be shaken
and you shall come to judge the world by fire.
I am seized with fear and trembling
until the trial is at hand and the wrath to come:
when the heavens and earth shall be shaken.

Absolutely beautiful..it reminds me of so many things...death especially...but it reminds me of being reborn into a new world too..

The world stay the same with is rules and laws. Being set free from all that by being reborn in a form that put's you above all that, cheating even time and death, that is cool... and yet sad cuz the price is eternal darkness...though choice...

Libera Me = Set Me Free. Very indicative of Louis' struggle in this movie.
TIMRF2575 2 years ago 2
Indeed; it was Louis wish that Lestat granted but by freeing him from life and is pain he put him in a world of eternal solitude and darkness with only the void of death as an ultimate salvation.
Guess there is some truth behind the saying "Beware of what you wish cuz the worst thing that could happen is seein this wish come true"

really good music and excellent movie. I've never read the book on which the movie is based, but Tom Cruise was excellent as Lestat. Damn shame that a planned sequel got nowhere.
ShakespeareHamlet 3 years ago
You really got to read the book cuz it's awesome (although the movie was very good).
I also like how Lestat sumarize the story in one of the chapter of "The vampire Lestat" the second book of the vampire chronicles, cuz it tell us the "other side" of the story. If "Interview with the vampire" depicted what kind of creature Lestat is, "The vampire Lestat" tell us why. As for the other book they allow us to look at other aspect of this world of darkness created by Anne Rice
Mongolabateri 2 years ago
I read that "Queen Of The Damned" was really bad. Oh, we can only wonder what would have been if "The Vampire Lestat" had been made, with Tom Cruise reprising his juicy role as Lestat.
ShakespeareHamlet 2 years ago
"Queen of the damned" the book is ok, not the best of the series, but not the worst either. The film on the other hand is a terrible mix of events from both The vampire Lestat and Queen of the damned (good soundtrack though :P).
Cruise performance in IWTV was awesome but the other book show us Lestat the musician so Peter Murphy from Bauhaus (for the gothic part) or Axl Rose (for the attitude) would have been more suitable choices in my opinion.
Mongolabateri 2 years ago 2
from what I read, after "The Vampire Lestat" was cancelled for some obscure reason, the production company that produced "Interview" didn't do anything else. But when their options for the filmrights were about to expire, they hastily hired two writers to condense "The Vampire Lestat" & "Queen Of The Damned" into one movie.
ShakespeareHamlet 2 years ago
The movie was pretty bad compared to the awesomeness that was the book. But you should definitely read the book.
EternalSailorNeptune 2 years ago
Oh, I thought the film was rather good compared to the book. Not AS good...no film ever is, but I thought it had an excellent cast, excellent soundtrack and a very good script as it was written by Rice herself.
Sorry, I seemed to go on a bit there :P
