Yeah Bobby do your thing. Don't let anyone tell you what to do if it isn't you. Don't go along with the crowd. They were only letting Ralph enjoy all the glory, so you had to TAKE your shine and glory from the crowd. More respect for Bobby than anyone else in the group.
I don't know what was the last straw was that got Bobby thrown out of the group, but the concert incident was'nt it. Bobby never performed with New Edition to promote the All For Love lp, The concert incident occured sometime in early 1985, not December of 1985 as Behind The Music stated, however he was kicked out of the group in December of 1985 although the video for "Count Me Out" came out in November of 1985 (of which Bobby did'nt appear in, which may have been the last straw).
@soulchildsacomin good catch....He didnt want to leave the group just wanted more control. Bobby is right their management was making them do some corny all american stuff that had no soul at all.
Some of theie outfits like the shiny tailored suits and kimonos were cool, but most of the stuff they wore on the 45 single covers were crappy. I don't blame Bobby for not wanting to wear those ridiculous outfits, but the rest of the group was also against it, but they wanted to make money so they faked it. I guess that what happens when you don't have disipline and "do what you wanna do." You spend money freely on drugs and get arrested and incacerated later on.
What I do gotta say is that Bobby looked even more ridiculous with a neck tie around his head (LMAO) and whats so hilarious about it is that he had that stupid grin on his face to go along with it. That joint really got to his head full time.
Hey do you guys realize that Growing Pains made history by being the first Sitcom to have New Edition in their house. Ben Seaver was a big fan and had a picture of them in their Basketball Suits.
A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW JOHNNY GILL WAS SUPPOSED TO REPLACE RALPH COMPLETELY FROM THE GROUP CAUSE THEY FELT HIS SOUND WAS DYING OUT BUT THEN REALIZED THAT WITHOUT HIS FACE IT MOST CERTAINLY WOULDN'T BE NEW EDITION BUT A DIFFERENT SO FOR THAT PURPOSE AND THAT ONLY WAS HE KEPT I QUESS BIZZ IS BIZZ HUH
@BryanV4 You're so right. It happened with David Ruffin in The Temptations and AJ McClean in The Backstreet Boys. Isn't it strange that although Johnny Gill's Career didn't have the same "Popularity" as Bobby Brown's, he still managed to maintain his sanity. You know what's so sad, the other guys never got into trouble, but because they were involved with Bobby Brown, I'm sure that there are alot of people who are reluctant to work with them, because of what Bobby did.
Bobby seemed like the only one who stayed true to himself. The other boys just went along and did whatever they were told. Bobby was the only one willing to stand up and fight for what he believed in. He didn't believe in compromises, he wanted to do what he wanted to do. Wouldn't take no for an answer.
@noedig1000 You're right but in that sense he was smart because he knew that their credibility would never be solid if they kept doing what they were doing. Give NE their props, they really were the "Original Boyband" for all of these Groups for The Past Twenty Years, from NKOTB, BSB, N'Sync not to mention the "Harmonizin' Homeiz".
NOW Ya'll know who Bobby Brown Is ..... He is the King of R&B.... he is a rock star .... and That is why R.Kelly ,Usher, Mario C.Brown .... Can't never do what he does as well as he do it. ......The Industry Needs Bobby Brown Back Period!!!!

He was totally out of control and undisciplined. He was destined to be a failure.

@Netertaat I guess you're right. But, remember we all have rules to follow. I still believe he was self-destructive and out of control.

Damn, interesting story. Sucks when one person in a group has a whole diff. opinion though, messes things up, but he had his reasons.
