I just read an article talking about how people are outraged a rapper was invited to the white house for a poetry reading night, and there were about a dozen commenters saying that rap was garbage and was nothing like poetry, what fools they are.
@crashmidget15 love how people spend time on somthing as trivial as that and somehow its news worthy, have they not taken a look around lately? they are the place where people aren't doing the job they were given to do and somehow the rapper is the thing they focus on. who was the rapper btw ;p
Yeah it really is ridiculous, wars going on all over the world and THAT is what they focus on. And the rapper was Common, im not a big fan of him or anything but the things they were saying about him were such bullshit. It would be nice to see the media try and report on some ACTUAL issues instead of who is on the poetry night guest list.
@crashmidget15 The reason why they won't report on any actual news is there is no money in it :p no one ever wants to hear wars or anything that requires em to put in some form of effort into it, I myself blame both the public and media, because the media use scare tatics as well as things the public wants to see such as this bs and apprently the royal wedding and trivial crap like Celebs getting pregnant its really gone downhill
lol the royal wedding stuff blew my mind, I talked to a friend of mine who lives over there and they said it was hyped up WAY more over in the U.S. /Canada than it was over there.
Your right though, the public is definitly to blame for alot of it, the media is just catering to them, if people would educate themselves on the big issues then the media would have no choice but to report on them.
@crashmidget15 Lols yeah the new south park episode satirize that wedding very well it was hilarious, but people won't educate themselves :p to much effort on their part its only when its to late they start to do somthing about it.
@crashmidget15 people are pissed because the rapper has a song praising a cop killer. im not saying i agree with the outrage, but it's not over the guy being a rapper. common i think it is.
@HaulinHearse Yes it was Common, Im not a huge fan of his or anything but i find it ridiculous that there is such a double standard with musical genres, If Johnny Cash was still alive and had been invited to that event no one would have thought twice, even though a lot of his lyrics are much more violent than Commons. I just tend to get annoyed when I see them demonizing rap in the mainstream media.
For those who do not know the references I'll point out as much as I can out:
Apollo- Greek and Roman god of light, truth, and the sun.
"Fuck with the police slowly" Possible reference to the song Fuck Da Police by N.W.A
"My city Glory" reference to Book called City of Glory
Zion- Jerusalem or biblical reference to land of Israel
"I need 40 mules and a acre" Was a practice in 1865 in which former black slaves that were free received 40 mules and an acre to start a new life and family.
"Parker Lewis can't lose" Was a Comedy show about American teen life in the 1990s
"Till you see Babels spires" Biblical reference to the tower of babel where people built a tower to reach the heavens to reach God, then God strucked it down with lighting the lighting then scattered and hit everyone else making them "babel" incoherently hence the name.
With a song like this you have to look at its diction(word choice) to get the meaning of the overall message.
@winterdayz99 And in my eyes it is seeing life from various view points to enjoy it, hence the various references to different works of literature, shows, and history.
Thank you for posting song and great job on C.Y.N.E's part.
@winterdayz99 To be honest I don't get a lot of the lyrics in this song (though it sounds hella cool), but the Apollo reference is probably to the space shuttle rather than the Greek god.
100 liker :D

Cyne's lyrics have so many symbolic referrences I don't understand how you could state something so redundant. Each individual verse is a mastepiece.
