During the day my gecko's pupils look normal. But last night I turned the light on when it was pretty dark in my room, and his pupils stayed dilated for a little while.. is this normal?
Do you know of any light I can use at night time for viewing that doesnt disturb them? I bought a red cfl but his pupils get those slits in them so I assume he can see it. What would you suggest using?
@heavyw420 The red light may cause the eyes to constrict a bit, but keep an eye on his behavior - does he hide as if it's daytime when it's on? Also, there are several kinds of red lights, you may have to fiddle around to find one that works for you. Some give off a more orange glow that they seem to be able to see.
Cool. I get conflicting info from different sources - some people say they'll mellow with age, so handle as little as possible so you're not a source of stress, while others say handle often while they're growing up or they'll never calm down and get used to you. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
Unfortunately you'll get conflicting info because it honestly does vary from gecko to gecko. I have a couple of really flighty ones that just never mellowed even with handling when the rest of mine did calm down.
hi! im might get a crested gecko and need answers about their lighting needs please message me.

@BenJamming24 It could just be that his eyes saw light you couldn't. I doubt there is a problem, to be honest.

How did you turn a biter into such a calm guy? Just regular handling?
flixization 2 years ago
Yeah - I also allowed him to settle in for a couple of weeks when I first got him, without much handling.
