I want to go into this field and apply for the school BUT the only thing I am afraid of is being by myself with the body, I am paranoid of spirits? I know it sounds dumb but yeah thats my only concern =/
So please share with us the way to proceed when you need to deal with a death, yet there is not a lot of money. So the lowest possible price. Can we cremate on the grill at home do we need a fire-pit?
@pastafariandan I would recommend coal-burning instead of woodstoves. Put your body underneath and your other meats on top for an added smokey flavour!
I found I did best with heavy course loads. 14 to 16 credits and I aced everything. 6 to 8 and I slacked off and missed assignments. Seems I need stress.
I just took a tour today of the pittsburgh institute of mortuary science. Still not sure if its right for me... I will be starting at the end of may if i do decide to go ahead with it.
Are you going to be focusing more on directing or embalming??
@scbonit Is the Pittsburgh Institute focused mainly on mortuary science or is it a subschool? At my school, we focus on embalming and directing equally. That's why I have to do so many business pre-reqs!
@anotherworkingstiff yeah pittsburgh covers everything on mortuary science. There are a lot of psychologys, business, risk management, communication skills, world religons..... and so on. Its also around 20 credits like you said. Its gonna be a lot to learn and a lot of work!!! But it will be worth it in the end
This is the start of an excellent 27 part series in which they dissect a human body. I don't know if it will help at all, but I do know that it's super cool.
@TheLaughingOut Thanks for the link! I have a few channels I've been watching which show either a cadaver dissection or at least a parts dissection. I'll probably share them all in a later video :)
My stomach turns whenever I see dead animals strewn along the road. I would imagine the feeling upon seeing a human corpse would not be drastically different, provided that you think of the corpse as an inanimate piece of matter and not as a person. I can't attest to the difficulty of doing so, however. Either way, try not to toss your cookies. That' would just make you look like a noob. Good luck with your schooling. Also got daaaaamn @ 19 credit hours. I hope you can manage it.
dont worry. you'll quickly become desensitized towards seeing dead people, and eventually, you won't even have a soul anymore.
