She should have better support from her Black musicians on stage who act as though they have an ATTITUDE. Only the white piano man appears like he wants to be there by the sway of his body while playing and his smile early on when she speaks French. ELLA is a LEGEND & is being mistreated/disrespected by her own people & it has gone unsaid because they are black. If those same BLACK musicians were working for WHITE people, they would have a smile on their face, so have one for HER, too.
@classanddignity They're just concentrating... And her bassist and drummer doesn't quite represent all black people in the world. You don't have to smile every time you appreciate something you know. They showed their appreciation by playing very beautifully.

How wonderful. I love how she spontaneously slips into Barbra Streisand's 'People Who Need People' at the end, so charming and effortless. How lucky anyone who saw Ella sing live must have been - the people in this audience don't realise just how blessed they are.
Okay... if only I can put my hands on this "Long ago and far away" CD by Charlie Watts and Bernard Fowler just to upload their version... I hope it won't be too long 'til I find it !
P.S. : Oh, and Ella IS (and will always be) the lady sings the jazz !
Ella was a performer who was envied by all of her peers for having a voice and and style that left all scrambling for 2nd place. Saw her in 1975 with Sinatra at the Spectrum in Philly and Frank had to admonish the crowd for their behavior. She opened the show for him and was treated liek a warm up act. These were Franks fans but I loved that he verbally spanked them when he followed Ella that night.
they were very good friends, its a shame there is NO official recording of thier 1974/1975 tour :( That would be something to hear digitally remastered .

Ella is so beautiful. I just wish her musicians at least tried to look happy.

Hmmm, the descriptions says Count Basie is playing but I definitely see a white guy behind the keys.

@IrishDutchman Irish... The description say "Cout Basie Orchestra"... not Count Basie himself.
But in the introduction she mention him... So probably he was there that night, but not playing this last song.
