And Kwan still ain't got the all-important OGM. Shower her with lots of bling and facetime, and love (more like pity), she will always be a known as the lengendary Olympic CHOKER =)
It's sad that Tara became such a bitter rival with Michelle. I guess the scrutiny and always getting compared to Michelle took it's toll on Tara. They could have been good friends. Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson were 1 & 2 and still good friends.
I didn't realize that Tara viewed Kwan with bitterness? Can you elaborate. Seriously, I knew that the media (along with us youtube/skating posters) created drama, but I never heard about bitterness. I've been watching skating for over two decades, and I never once saw or read a single negative comment made by either Tara or Kwan.
@mlc2005 Tara has said before in interviews after the Olympics that she felt that everyone was "pushing for Michelle." She spoke out more about the USFSA not giving her the support that they gave Kwan, and stated that aided in her decision to turn pro. In 1998, Tara mother got upset at the White House when Michelle was able to give President Clinton the team jacket. The USOC picked Picabo Street (sp?) but she was hurt so the next athlete choosen was Michelle Kwan.
Tara's mom responded by saying something like, "Isn't it a pity the way they treat Tara." Tara mothers felt that Tara should have been the one to give the President the team jacket b/c she won the most "valuable" gold. It offended the other ahtletes like the US women's Hockey team that won gold in Nagano. Tara has been asked about who did she thnk would win the 1999 Nationals, and the reporter stated the she refused to mention the four letter word, "Kwan" in regards to figure skating.
It's just sad that there was so much bitterness on Tara's side. I think that she took many things wrong b/c she was so young. It made ppl dislike her in skating. I know that a lot of ppl in Delaware were glad that she left and went to Detroit. No one had good things to say about Tara. I was told "If you knew her, you really wouldn't like her." She was young and an only child. I hope that she has matured some, but I know she fell out with her BFF so it makes me wonder.

And Kwan toook the microphone and looked Tara in the eye and said, "I like you, Tara." Tara was shocked. Apparently liking people is incomprehensible to her. Or maybe she can't comprehend being liked.
Tara was ugly back then. Sadly, nothing has changed even with the OGM. Her "career" definitely did not take off.
