You can't ease up on a hill like that and then give it gas or slow right down and gear down then give it a shot. In first gear you would have been fine if you hadn't eased off the throttle.

Don't you know you have to power all the way up? You cant let off the gas at the top steepest part of the hill...should have given it more throttle and rode out the rough patch... Would have helped to keep it straight as well...

argh...people today...think hill climbing is all about having enough speed to get to the top, its about reading the hill and knowing where and how to position the bike sos to maintain the lowest center of gravity...but you did a nice job till you gassed it over the roots, but i have to admit Roots are the hillclimbers worst nightmare
