  • The first time i tried the f2l it took me 6-7 minutes, so i need tons of practice

  • I am a Speedcuber using the Fridrich Method, I average 21-22 seconds with a sub 10 Personal Best, PLEASE check out my channel! :)

  • I avg 25 seconds knowing intuitive F2L,2-look OLL and full PLL is this good

  • Not even giving us one algorithm? Asshole

  • I obey all of you said at the 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL.. But my average was 40 sec..

I am trying to memorize all the algorithms at the OLL and PLL.. And guess what? My brain almost POP!!

    It's too hard.. I've got a headache..

    But I'm still trying :))

  • i learnd the begginers way it not the speedcuber way and my record is 30 sec

  • my best solve with beginners method is 00:55:068 with a rubiks brand sanded and lubed

  • @killalot4 mines 39 sec with a non lubed rubiks brand and non sanded

  • To get faster and to be a speedcuber is different.

    TO BECOME A SPEEDCUBER:

Step 1: Solve the cube as fast as you can, or try to solve it fast

Step 2: Solve the cube as fast as you can, or try to solve it fast

Step 3: Solve the cube as fast as you can, or try to solve it fast

Step 4: Solve the cube as fast as you can, or try to solve it fast

    Now ur an official speedcuber!

How to solve the cube fast: learn the fridrich method

  • i need help breaking 25 seconds on average i can get past this any tips ?

  • 4:28 His voice cracks

  • what is OLL en PLL?

  • oll = orientation of the top layer (solving the very top)

pll = permientation of the top layer (putting the edges and cerners in the right place)

    hope this helps!

    -Meyekem

  • Speedcubing since January :) ....Bets time 17 seconds. Average time is around 27 seconds.

    I use:

    Cross(Bottom)

    F2L ( Some cases known )

    OLL ( 2-Look )

    PLL ( Learning full ) Need 2 more :)

  • same thing here but my best time is 14 secinds no-lucky is 17 I need 7 more plls

  • I like cubetimer because you time yourself on a bunch of different puzzles, and you can use a puzzle you don't have to time your f2l or something.

My stackmat broke. Or maybe the batteries just randomly died.

Does a colored cube mess you up? Because I want to get a green or violet or white DIY but I've only ever used black.

I've been practicing fridrich but my personal best for f2l is around a minute, then I have 40 or so second last layer solves :'(

  • what is your average?

  • I haven't taken an average in a while because I am learning OLL and PLL, but before that I was averaging around 1:50

  • nope i was using a black cube for half a year and now i got a white diy type c and my tyms are the same but my personal best has droippd by 4 seconds! my persinal best is 28.86 and my avg of 12 is 36.xx so u should just keep practicing like im still using 2 look oll and im in the process of learning pll iv got 5 more to learn

  • meph uses type a original lubed with jig a loo, he takes out 6 edges sprays it in then turns it for 2 minutes (i saw his experiment)

  • wht type of DIY is ur cube? cuz its amazingly smooth ?!?

  • type A from cube4you

  • is it the original?

cuz there are I,II and III

  • i think he said he uses the original or type I

  • simply the best video on youtube.

You explain everything it is perfect.

  • it takes me about 10 second for the cross , i am terrible

    :P

  • Thanks a lot.

  • 4:30

  • hey bud, finally got back into cubing and learned 3 or 4 PLL's in an hour (outside of all the 2L-PLL algs), am I going through them too fast? I can execute them quickly (within 3secs) and I know how they move pieces.

Also, I was averaging 30-35s when I was just using 4L-LL and F2L. My F2L is better now, but being out of "speedcubing" for a bit, I am more of a 35-40s average. I am learnign the PLL's, so what do you think I may average? 20-25s once I get going again?

  • I know F2L (intuitive), 2-LOOK OLL (and a few OLL's), all the PLL's, and I still can get it under 42 seconds. I get like 50 seconds average...

what can I do to get it better...?

  • lol if u know F2L, 2lookoll and all the pll, u shud be averaging around 30 seconds.

this is how i solve the cube:

    cross - 5 secs

    f2l - 20 secs

    2lookoll and 2lookpll - 10 seconds

this gives me on average a 38 second solve....

im trying to learn full pll but im finding it difficult as to where and how to start...

u got any tips for me??

response will be highly appreciated =)

  • dude you have to practice solving the cross on the bottom and doing it in just 4 secs. or less. this is my summary of solving

    cross-3 or less secs.

f2l- smtms 10 or less but usually 15 less secs.

compound oll and pll-(i only know 17 of them) 15 or less.

this gives me sub-30 average. try watching compound oll by thewestonian and good luck with cubing.

  • i dnt know how to get a cross in less than 3 sec....=( got any tips? i do what badmephisto tells in 1 of his videos regarding the cross. but still cant do it less than 3 sec.

f2l...how should i do it in 15 seconds? or less?? tipss plz??

for 2lookoll and 2lookpll....well...as i said, 10 seconds is the best i can get....kinda depends on the algorithms too.

    thanks for the reply though.

im hoping tht u will reply to this too =)

    cheers =)

  • i get the cross in tht tme bec. i'm color neutral. jst choose a color to prctce wth ex. blue(that's my first base color) then familiarize urself wth the color scheme. then , whn u fl cm4tble wth tht color scheme, you shld try doing the cross in any other color.

f2l-wht i do is always use an xtnded cross, prctce by going slow in ur prctce solves. try to lk ahead .....a lot. but don't time ur self whle prctcng. also i trd to stdy the petrus method

  • thanks! =)

  • just practise...

i use the same method as you on a storebought cube and i average 25 seconds

  • yeah ur right....

  • Lol, annotation at 8:42

  • u dont't need oll if u can't plls right cuzz un say first 2look oll then f2l then pll???

  • can u write the algorithms in the discription

  • you should put a ZZ method on the info link ..

  • I know intuitive F2L, 2 look OLL, and 1 look PLL. I average 28 seconds. Is this good?

  • with a good storebought cube

  • no not really :)

  • uh... why not?

  • not good, because he should be able to do better using said method, or because he needs to improve his method?

  • @ben1996123 yes it is

  • It's pronounced Roo, not Rowx. Just a correction ;)

  • man you re just great. you re my online cube tutor, many thanks

  • i started to copy them but i do them and i never get it right

  • i start doing cubes a week ago, and now i'm already triyng to learn the algorithms you teach in your 2 look PLL and the 2 look OLL . It is soo hard, I can barely memorise the one's from the beginners method :x

  • you're getting ahead of yourself :)

  • slow down, tiger. get familiar with your beginners method first and after a month of thought and practice, come back here, badmephisto is the best tutor ; )

  • can somebody tell me how to mix up a rubiks cube?

always when i scramble it and i open my eyes its solved.

i dont know what to do....

    please HELP!!

  • scramble it with eyes open ;-)

  • but then its too easy to solve

  • it is? you must be really good. I always scramble with my eyes open and Its not too easy to solve. You know you have to turn some faces more than like 5 times right

  • i know ...

often im scrambling a minute but still its too easy

maybe i will just ask someone else to scramble

  • Forgive my bluntness. If you scramble it for a full minute, and it comes out solved, you're either a prodigy, or an idiot.

open your eyes, use a random set of moves. It isn't difficult.

  • is that silicon spray better than the jigaloo?

  • I used LBL Method to speedcube. 27sec ^__^.

    Practices makes prefect !

  • i use dan browns method and my time is 1.57

  • wow thats fail. i used his method and got 55 seconds, then i learned oll and pll and got to 45 seconds

  • me2... learning f2l right now... i dont know, when i actually am sub60 :)

  • I used your PLL timer, but I dont understand what the red and green lines are for on each case. can you explain for me? Great Vid

  • Great video, as always. Question: what kind of helmet/hat cam system do you use? I have a flip mino and want to make videos. I like the "look down" method you use. Any tips?

Thanks again. My times have gone from 6 min(!) to about 1:50 on average. Hard to recognize cases when going fast, but getting better.

  • me the noob rubik cube player, me the cross method also dunnoe do

  • my beginner time is 1:47.3

  • nice a int much better with 1:30lol

  • well thanks meph i got from 1:30 to 22 seconds in about a month and a half, maybe i advance faster, my path to getting there...

    beginner ---> keyhole + some extra time solving algs ---> f2l + 3 look LL ---> f2l 2 look oll 2 look pll ---> f2l 2 look oll pll -----> f2l oll pll

  • r u sure keyhole method works

these are my times ( I first practiced keyhole and then did 1 of each )

    beginner: 55 seconds

    keyhole method: 1min 36 seconds

  • If you keep practicing you will get faster, I use full begginers method and I sub-40 everytime.

  • Hey I learned the 2 Look OLL and PLL and its shortened my time from 1 min to about 40-50 seconds is there anything else you can do to speed yourself up, one im having trouble with is looking around the cube and finding the pieces.

  • As he says in the video, F2L the most important step of Fridrich. It really determines whether you get a 30 second solve or a 45 second one. I remember I had to practice all the time to get my F2L in ~20 seconds, since the cross should take no longer than 5 seconds and OLL/PLL should be fairly quick (around 10-15 seconds combined).

I also use 2 look OLL/PLL, and my average is around 30 seconds, so I think you should work on your F2L more and possibly work on your actual finger speed a bit.

  • hey can u make petrus method tutorial or explanation?? i dont the wat website says

  • Just one question........I still use a rubik's store cube, not lubricated and my average is 23 seconds.

I know all 21 pll, and about 25 oll.

It's the cube making my andvance process slower?

  • I think so.

  • if you are averaging 23 with a bad cube a good cube could bring that down four maybe five seconds

  • yo badmephisto wats ur fastest time

  • I managed to do my Cube in 59 seconds without lubing it and using the begginer algorithms.. I need to learn these new ones now! :D

  • da key ho method lol

  • lol whyyyyy

  • Because you said "screw"

  • Comment removed

  • 4:29 voice crack!

  • Ey thank you man for all this vids,

ive learned all that basic oll and pll and i know the f2l i have now an avarage from 38,47 over 20 times cubing.

  • which stickers do you use for your cube?

  • I can't find a good home page like shows where i can buy the rubiks diy where did you buy it and: Do you think it can be selled in sweden couse i don't find some one:(

  • DIY is cheaper than Rubiks!!

  • Hey!!!!!!!!! I've watched like all your videos, and so far i have f2l Down =) And im learning the Pll sune thingys lol... So yeah, Recently i've figured out that my cube is slower then yours, sooo. I was just wondering. Which Cube should i buy from Cube4you. *I want it how the normal BLACK rubick's cube sticky's positions were I dont think i can get used to the white background like most of yours if not all* So, please can you tell me which you reccomend?? Not white though Black plz =) Ty!!!!

  • or u cud do fridrik for last edge! m time is 43 sec! using petrus keyhole and fridrik thx!

  • People I have a question. I put my DIY cube together and it not only has a lot of friction and struggles to cut corners but is always threatening to fall apart. I messed around with different tensions on the screws for 20 minutes to no avail. Any suggestions? Do I need to glue the screw into the axle?

  • Which type is it? I bought two DIY cubes (type A and type F) and there is a lot of friction between the cubies (like the springs are really strong), but I put my type F cubies on a type D core and center pieces and it's amazing, there is a lot less friction but it doesn't cut corners as well. At least it doesn't pop at all though. Also you should lube your cube with silicone, I don't know if you have or not since you didn't mention anything about it in your comment. Get some CRC from Wal-mart.

  • I'm not sure what type it is, I bought it from a powerseller on ebay. I should have gone to cube4you. What is the difference between all the types? Anyway, I'm starting to get used to it and it is definitely better than my store bought, although it popped at least 3 times today. I bought some 100% silicone from a hardware store and it did wonders for my standard 4x4 rubik's cube but didn't seem to do much for my 3x3 DIY.

  • Type A: there are a lot of type A cubes, the one I have locks up and has strong spring tension, Type B and E I can't tell you much about (type E are Dienshang cubes), Type C I can't tell you about yet, I have one coming in the mail, most people hate them, type D have very wimpy springs so the cubies move with ease, but they lock up a tad easily. Type F doesn't lock up unless the layers are very misaligned, and is similar to my type A in terms of spring tension. Type F on type D core is amazing.

  • agust the tension so that when you pull 2 corners away from each other there will be a small gap. Then lube it whith silicone spray or jig-a-loo.Only spray a little at a time and then play with the cube for a while, and if it does not move well then repeat the process

  • is the f2l faster than the keyhole methos ans back plss

  • He suggests learning the keyhole method before the full f2l, so I believe the answer to your question is yes it is faster when one's skills are developed enough.

  • f2l is faster IF you are good at it. if you aren't, it will make you significantly slower. for this reason, you should learn keyhole first -- as a sort of segue from beginners' to f2l.

  • Thanks dude, my best time was before 45 secs but now its 38 sec because a learnt keyhole method. Thank you!

  • nice vid! Very comprehensive. I agree that most speed comes from getting better at F2L. Practice really pays of. I do 2step OLL and 2step PLL (blueknight has some nice vids if you wanna start that) once i practiced F2L i cut my times down from about 150sec to 80 sec...i wonder at which point i should get into full PLL (1step PLL)...learning algorithms is not much fun at first...only later when you get faster and faster...hehe

  • well i started learning full PLL when i got to 45 sec

  • There is a petrus tutorial in the info...just use that.

  • can you do a petrus tutorial

  • he don't use petrus

    he is using fridrich

but there are good petrus method tutorials on youtube just search petrus method tutorial

  • how did you lube your cube petrolium jelly isnt working for me lol

  • silicone spray or jig-a-loo...silicone spray can be found at your local ace hardware or autozone, and jig-a-loo is most commonly found in Canada =P

  • its pretty easy, just remove 3 pieces and put in some jelly, smear it around, rplace the cubes, and move the sides are to work it around. you may need to put it in other sides too to get full lubrication

  • DO NOT EVER lube anything except (because they are crap anyways) Rubik's brand store-bought cubes with petroleum jelly, it will slowly disintegrate the plastic of the cube and the core, and it'll make the core very prone to breaking. Only use silicone spray or some other cube-lube on a DIY cube, it'll make your cube faster than petroleum jelly anyways.

  • what diy did you use? a,b,c,d,f?

  • he uses D and A

  • Hello!

Can anybody tell me what is the best cube for speedcubing? a,b,c,d,e,f,cube4you cube or any other cubes? THX

  • the best kind is a

  • A or D

  • I still remember when I first saw this video... It held all my hopes on getting faster. Haha. And when I look back, I imagined how much I've improved. So Thanks Badmephisto. =D. Your videos are top class. Though I can't thank you like some other people that can post videos of themselves solving the cube and showing their appreciation to you on how much they've improved with your help since I do not have very good video equipment =(. But all I can say is it's doing very great xD.... Thumbs Up ^^

  • Love this vid! Thanks!

  • voice break at 4:29 ? lol

umm F2L is a beast.. ive only just learnt the Fridich method and i have about 1.30 - 2 minute solves so this should help, thanks =)

  • Even though your a cube master, itd be a bit more helpful if you slowed down your cubing for those of us who dont know what the hell your doing O_o

  • this video is not a tutorial. Its an overview. You're doing it wrong.

  • you are the best

  • Woohoo. Thanks man. I been using the begginners method for about a year and a half now and usualy can average around 50 secs. I think I want to lower that time! Thanks for the video.

  • The way i learned was... F2L,2LOLL+2LPLL at same time.. and im currently still learning PLL...ima wait a while til OLL comes up =D

  • i followed one of your links to the keyhole method (i have memorised the beginners method - thanks for that by the way!) but if anything that method has made me slower - am i doing it wrong?

  • strange :) maybe you just didnt practice it enough. it should be somewhat faster

  • I second that. Keyhole is slowing me down

  • Though I too seem to be slower with keyhole (I'd rather use beginner method way of the first two layers), but I believe its supposed to be one of those things that help when you get good at it. It may be strange to start the 2L-OLL or 2L-PLL, but after you get the hang of it, you get faster. I was getting around 1:20 with beginner method badmephisto put up, but with 2-look OLL I have gotten to 50s-1min. Keyhole is a stepstone to F2L which you can learn later.

  • Ughhhhh... U lost REAL FAST!

  • how do i orient all the edges during 2 look oll

  • i already know fridrich though, i want the vh system, or the zb system

  • i dont get how to do the last corner

  • I don't understand none of this?!

  • That is good! If by not understanding nothing you mean you understand everything.

  • Lol?

    That doesn't make sense?

  • It makes perfect sense - A double negative makes a positive

  • LOl

What does that have to do with me trying to learn this?

  • It doesn't have anything to do with the on-line tuition you are receiving via youtube, I was merely commenting on your comment

  • I'm just trying to learn,but I don't quite understand well..

  • Which DIY cube should I get? I heard type E is very good

  • gross! get an A, I have a D, but they don't make them like they used to.

  • Yea i will i watched some videos where they suggest a type E lol.

  • THX for that!!!!

  • Im new to cubing, but what is Orientation and Permutation?

  • Orientation is making the last layer all the same color facing upwards, and permutation is moving the pieces around.

  • ah, ok thank you :P

  • ORientation is the third step of Jessica Fridrich method where 57 cases are involved..Permutation is the last step in solving the rubiks cube where u must memorize many alogorithms for the step

  • when do you recomend learning the OLL's and the PLL's?

  • well, there's nothing i can say but thanks.

  • Great job! Thanks for the info.

  • im 12 my record is 18.09 very lucky. i average 30 - 40 seconds

  • HEY im from toronto, know where to buy nice cubes?

  • there is no place. you must order online and get it from china or whatever

  • I live in france and there is a store in my neighborhood which sells toys for children and I was looking for a original Rubik's cube and they really had a couple of cubes and even 4x4 cubes and they even have the megamix

  • I found 2 at Zellers in Ottawa. Not sure if they'll have them in TO.

But I know that Eaton's has a puzzle store. Not sure where they located it now, but it used to be in the basement. Due to renovation they moved to some other place within Eaton's. So go there and ask info desk as to which floor & section they are located now. They should have something. I remember it costing $15-20. The one at Zellers is $12-15

  • go to vaughn mills in font of winners theres a stand called go games they have 2 by 2 to 5 by 5 and alot others

  • were did u get that cube from

  • im 12 and i got 1 min 30 and silicone spray screwed my cube up

  • Did you work it in, or did you let it sit for awhile?

  • thanks for some information

  • im 12 my record is 33 seconds

  • what the hell is the algorithm at 3:05?!

  • R U2 R' U' R U' R'

  • im 14 my record is 13.83

  • Roflmao I'm 17 and my average is 53 seconds -_- (I use Fridrich + 3LookPLL+OLL)

  • my average is 1 year and counting..

  • could u please make a video on multislotting and petrus method.......

  • I use keyhole and avg. 19 but when i use fridrich f2l i avg. 25

  • Darn! I use fridrich method and i average 22 seconds! Looks like you a coupe of seconds faster than me.

  • where can i learn the roux method

  • If you type the roux method on google the first link that pops up should be his website. His site uses mostly java to display the method so make sure you have java.

  • im 12 my record is 1.14 min

  • nice, mine is like 1 min and 6 secs

  • is there a time to get on the keyhole method before moving on to 2look oll?

  • thanks i broke my record i got 23 sec. and by the way which cube timer is better to use? and why can anyone answer my question plzz!!!

  • thanks man I broke my record i got 23 and by the way which cube timer is better to use? and why?

  • The keyhole method is slower to me than the beginner's method. :-/

  • if you always practice it i assure you that u wll really get faster
