On August 24th, 1963 the Duprees' "Why Don't You Believe Me" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100, eventually it peaked at No. 37 and spent 7 weeks in the Top 100...
The most successful version of this song was by Joni James; on November 29th, 1952 it reached No. 1 {for 4 weeks} on Billboard's Best Sellers chart...
Other 1952 charted versions; Patti Page {#4} and Margaret Whiting {#29}
On Billboard's Country chart; Donna Stark took it to #92 in 1980...
Toniztony.... Ur crazy richies voice was the best the duprees ever had... Tommy sucks worst Dupree ever. Have tommy sing Gloria or the girl I loved yea ok... U got some balls saying richies voice cracks. I'm 31 and can sing better then tommy and richie is a personal friend of my family!!!
tommy petillo is the man behind the duprees the people who say that richie rosato is even good are tone deaf his voice cracks and he is off key not even close to tommy the persons who said that richie is good are his mom dad sisters couisins get real people tommy is truly outstanding for the duprees or any group and richie truly stinks
It's not a question of who's the best, it's only about difference. The group is in a class by itself, still out there mixing it up with repertoire and arrangement that never go out of style. It's only too bad they seem to keep to the East Coast.
I have been in radio for 40 years and have wrote three books on Rock and Roll. this is not the Duprees. The orginal members are dead except for one member.
For those of us who knew just how good Richie was when he was with The Duprees, this vid only brings that back even more. Richie you WERE the heart & Soul of The Fab Duprees; why,oh why, did you let your ego ruin it for you--the music--& all of us who loved to hear you sing?? This really is, what once was. Wolfsky9
