Hooray for Subaru for introducing me to this great song. I grew up with Irishmen in New York. An Irishmen never falls from grace with God unless he drinks the soup.
After thinking the Subaru commercial music was the Dropkick Murphy's and discovering it wasn't I have now found yet another irish punk band I enjoy. Sometimes watching commercials pays off... Can't believe how long these guys have been around and I'm discovering them in 2012....
@Benwah1224 it's ok mate - say 2 Hail Marys, 1 Our Father, and down 12 pints of Guinness and all will be forgiven - salvation before the grave is all that matters-
@ATrexOfficialSite i likely saw the ad about 20 times or more,& i just assumed that the song was made specifically for the ad. eventually i realized that maybe the song existed apart from the ad, and so i looked up the ad,& i found that the song wasn't just for the ad. i'm not sure why they gave such an irish flavor to the subaru ad. even without the music, the greenness of the hockey players' outfits gave it an irish flavor. i wonder why they would wish to do irish stuff in that kind of ad.
This is a better version than the other version, except, they're both good. And don't say the Pogues sound like Dropkick Murphys. Jesus F'ing Christ. It's like saying Michelangelo draws like Frank Miller or something. Goddamn. But love, peace,love...
@deejayalemus Why because of nationality or accent, (Shanes being a put-on by the way). If that your reason for this horendous comment then you truly know nothing about punk rock and by name dropping crass on a pogues song tells me your trying to prove the contrary. The analogy your trying to prove is two trad. Irish punk bands is to a pop punk and anarcho punk band. which doesn't add up my friend even in the darkest corners of this universe. 617!
@TrueTxGx You have illustrated the ignorance of my analogy well, and as such I cannot fault it. Thinking about what you said, Ramones would have been a much better choice than Crass, that's closer to pop punk. My own experience of punk was stuff like Plasmatics, Reagan Youth, and DFL and movies like Repo Man and Class of 84. I liked some stuff, but I can't say I ever got that deep into the genre.
@deejayalemus I strongly beg to differ facts were clearly displayed on my part and you correctively change your original statement. By listing these bands you are further proving my point.
@i1killed2god3 You would need to purchase a USB Vinyl Plater. they are not particularly expensive, and will generally come with software to convert Vinyl music in to the Mp3 Format. Cheers! and good luck.
@i1killed2god3 or how about just getting hold of a component turntable- hook it up to a pc microphone input- maybe using WINAMP or similar- or just SOUND RECORDER on a PC and then record the track- Windows will convert the .wav file to an Mp3 for you by right clicking the file. The USB plateer rippers run about $80 bucks plus. You might know someone with a working turntable- even a integrated turntable from an older stereo set will work-use the headphone output- keep the levels low.
@plymkerburke I have always loved this song - but I find the car ad an odd juxtaposition to the lyrics of the song. It's an ad for a big family suv. What do you think?
@QueenMuchness I liked the ad set to this song.Matter of fact, the frentic pace of the song went with the soccor mom's running around like a chicken with its' head cut off bussing those kids to games and back.I can identify.I'm sure the Pogues approved of the use of their song.I thought it fit.
@crowleysridgegirl i think you meant "hockey", not "soccer". well, maybe you saw a commercial that i didn't see. well, hockey is kind of like soccer. similar games.
@plymkerburke I have always loved this song - I do like the album version better. Do you find the ad an odd juxtaposition to the lyrics of this song????
I prefer this version to the original, it just fits better.
The movies was excellent, it just requires a careful viewing to understand what it's really about. It's only a "spaghetti western" on the surface, below that it's all political commentary.
this is a little slow

A song about dying and going to hell really illustrates the life of a hockey mom? Subaru ruined this song for me.

Thumbs up if this song has absolutely no place in a Subaru commercial.

@pricklyphlox agreed. saying Dropkick Murphys are like the Pogues is like comparing Blink 182 to Crass in my book.
