is it just me or is the prince REALLY cute? Why have I not heard of this movie until now, I thought I knew all the Cinderella stories!

One of my favourite musicals ever! I saw it when I was a little girl and it was shown on TV here in UK a few days ago. Chitty was my first fave from the same composers of course. The music just sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it. WONDERFUL!!! And yes...why on earth haven't they made this a stage musical?

@Penscreen Yep, this should be on stage. "Mary Poppins" did well and if they get the right Director and Producer (s) this could be magical= )

@MagicJems It was on stage, well Cinderella was. in 1958 a Christmas holiday pantomime adaptation. and,  The New York City Opera produced the musical in 1993 and 1995

@Penscreen Believe it or not, there is a stage adaptation of the musical. I'm in it! Very few theatre companies have put it together though, unfortunately.

@choir41 - maybe you could get it recorded and put up here on YT? I've seen other folks productions this way. For instance I never knew my favourite childhood book also became a musical on stage? But I found 'Narnia - The Musical' on here, and really enjoyed it!

@Penscreen Oh I wish! Somebody in the cast asked about it and they said that they couldn't get the rights to record it. If anyone does it'll be illegal haha!

@choir41 Not true. It was performed on stage in the London Colosseum. Another by the New York Opera Theatre. Anyway, there is a version in the works for Broadway next year.

OMG I didn't know Richard Chamberlain could sing so well. He is so fabulously talented isn't he. One of the best films of Chamberlain's. I'm a great fan of his and he never fails to amaze me.

I loved this so much growing up and you can't find it anywhere! The music is so wonderful, while they're remaking everything under the sun into a Broadway show, why not this??

@Ticket2theMoon They have. On stage, Operas. In the UK, NY, London. Just do some research. It's been adapted to the stage and I think as late as 2002.

I love this film. Is there any doubt that the handsome prince of this fairy tale could be anyone else but Richard Chamberlain? I don't think so. His manners, the way he handles himself and he is so handsome. He truly is the handsome prince of any fairy tale. Best actor ever!
