Athiesm is not a belief, it's a lack of belief. Atheists just don't believe there is any god. Asking atheists to prove that god doesn't exist makes just about as much sense as asking someone to prove that the tooth fairy doesn't exist.

When you eliminate the non existent factors of God, you have the "nothingness" (or absence in this case) that remains which is atheism.

As soon as you give legitimate evidence of God's existence atheists will no longer be atheists. The problem is that proof has not been provided. Atheists, like most reasonable people, need things to be explained by science as it is science that defines everything in the world we live in. Atheism is a response to a statement. It isn't an assertion of evidence, it's the rejection of it. If you don't believe the claim that there is a God, you are an atheist, and the burden of proof is on the person making that claim. You can't assert something as fact and then demand proof that you are wrong, you have the burden of proof, you have to show how your views are correct, and it's foolish to expect that people believe you before you've provided evidence for your claims.

If I were making the claim that god does not exist I agree that I would need evidence to back that up if I wanted to be intellectually honest, but I don't make that claim. For me to give accurate evidence that atheism is accurate and correct, you would have to define your god for me. It is posible a deist god exists, or any number of others, which in that respect I would be agnostic. However, I may be atheist with respect to your god, depending on what you believe about him.
Again, look up the definition of atheism. Atheism in its strictest sense is about belief, agnosticism is about knowledge. Don't you think it coincidental that so many similar flood myths exist? Pretty much any claim anybody can make about Noah's flood is easily refutable.

Athiesm is not a belief, it's a lack of belief. Atheists just don't believe there is any god. Asking atheists to prove that god doesn't exist makes just about as much sense as asking someone to prove that the tooth fairy doesn't exist.
By asserting that god does exist, it's you who are making the exraordinary claim, not atheists and extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. You have none.
Therefore, "God does not exist", is the default position until proved otherwise. Show your proof.

Here's my answer: An OMNIPOTENT(all powerful) and OMNISCIENT(all knowing) God that NEVER does anything. Theism is not the default position. By nature, reality in and of itself (in all of its RANDOM cosmic occurrences and brutal naturalism-Do animals believe in God?) is ATHEISTIC(without theism). When you eliminate the non existent factors of God, you have the "nothingness" (or absence in this case) that remains which is atheism.

Atheism is a word used to describe those who are not theists. In the same way that asymmetrical is used to describe shapes that are not symmetrical. I am not a theist. Therefore I am an Atheist. The word accurately describes one aspect of my life and is therefore true and correct. Anyone who lacks belief in a certain deity is an Atheist. You do not believe in Tutatis (presumably) so are therefore an Atheist with regards to Toutatis. I do not believe in Yahweh so I'm an Atheist in that regard.

1. Almost every "act of god" can be scientifically proven. That includes the "feeling of the holy ghost/spirit of god"
2. The Holocaust. The hiroshima/nagasaki bombings. Explain gods reasoning during those events.

Depending on the definition of atheism that is used, i would agree or disagree that proof is required. The Merriam-Webster definition of belief in gods absence is an assertion that requires evidence to support it, while the Oxford definition of a simple lack of belief in an deity is a neutral position, requiring no evidence at all. Also, there's the troll answer to the question, "I read it in a book". Discrediting this answer also discredits the use of the Bible to support the claims of theists.

The Burden of Proof is not upon atheists. For example, I could claim that I can cure cancer. People will automatically say 'Okay, well, prove it'. (These people are the atheists in this metaphor). I cannot just say 'Prove that I CAN'T'. When you make a grand claim, such as there is a creator of the universe that is like some etheral puppet master, the burden of proof is upon YOU, not upon the doubter.

Science is able to account for everything in the universe and is getting better at doing so. Outside the universe, nobody can account, but one thing is clear. As soon as you give legitimate evidence of God's existence atheists will no longer be atheists. The problem is that proof has not been provided. Atheists, like most reasonable people, need things to be explained by science as it is science that defines everything in the world we live in. The problem is theists make claims of faith to fill the gap between science and a god. Faith is not sufficient proof because it's like saying just believe and then you will believe.

Atheism is a response to a statement. It isn't an assertion of evidence, it's the rejection of it. If you don't believe the claim that there is a God, you are an atheist, and the burden of proof is on the person making that claim. You can't assert something as fact and then demand proof that you are wrong, you have the burden of proof, you have to show how your views are correct, and it's foolish to expect that people believe you before you've provided evidence for your claims.

If I were making the claim that god does not exist I agree that I would need evidence to back that up if I wanted to be intellectually honest, but I don't make that claim. I admit that I do not know if god does or doesn't exist. I have seen nothing to make me think he does exist, and therefore I see no reason to assume he exist. Atheism is not a belief. IF IT WERE IT WOULD NEED EVIDENCE. Atheism is a lack of belief. It asserts no positive claims therefore it requires no evidence. Based on the lack of evidence for a positive claim (God), an atheist has no reason to believe the claim. If an atheist claims "there is no God" it must be proven however.
The best analogy i have heard to describe this is that if atheism is a belief then not collecting baseball cards is a hobby and not playing football is a sport.

@younhol00 What I am saying is that science (logic) doesn't work that way. You can NEVER 100% proof the nonexistance of something. Either you have proof that something exists or you don't. There are only these two options. Either you have proof that smurfs exist or you don't. Proof to me that they don't exist! You can't. But i guess you refute to belief in them. Atheists believe in things we have proof of and don't believe in highly inprobable things like god. btw you didn't answer my question.

@pocketescapism You are here to answer my question or you suffer from madness like all I deny the existence of God deranged 1.6 percent of the U.S. Population. Science can not proof the existence of God due to its limitations, it can only explain the natural. However science have shown the everything that we can observe and study can only comes from the hands of the Creator you deny to live your deranged, insidious annoying, and outright deceptive live. Nothing short of madness passes trough me.

@younhol00 LOL I just answered your question but you just wait for the one sentence "we can't proof that there is no god" (which is right, we can't) to shout out "hooray! i knew it!" but you still wouldn't be right because you don't understand the irrelevance of this question. I don't think you have any idea how science (or thinking) works and i'm not here to explain that to you. I'm glad i live in europe, where we are like 40%, and i don't have to deal with maniacs like you in real life. peace

For me to give accurate evidence that atheism is accurate and correct, you would have to define your god for me. It is posible a deist god exists, or any number of others, which in that respect I would be agnostic. However, I may be atheist with respect to your god, depending on what you believe about him.

Again, look up the definition of atheism. Atheism in its strictest sense is about belief, agnosticism is about knowledge. Don't you think it coincidental that so many similar flood myths exist? Pretty much any claim anybody can make about Noah's flood is easily refutable.

This question simply demonstrates a complete lack of undestanding as to what atheism is. Atheism is a lack of belief in god. Its not making any extraordinary claim (as theism does), it does not have to proove anything. If you say you have an invisible unicorn in a box, it is your job to prove that you are telling the truth, it is not my responsibility to prove that you are lying. THE BURDEN OF PROOF IS ON THE THEISTS. Until you proove that there is a god, i am valid in my belief that there isnt.
