The mapmaking tool, called Source SDK, is what you would use. its not really based on math, more on coding and triggers. Its also really, really hard to use, since its so outdated (really old interface and controls). i've tried to make a map, and i can build the physical map, but i cant make any buttons, doors or anything else but surfaces.
if you wanna try, get Source SDK from Steam (under Tools) and i also highly recommend seeing tutorials first
Great stuff. One question: If you re-start the level, will they come in the same order? Considering computers can't randomize I think there's a system there.
If you see me do this kinda stuff in a map with my texture pack, it will mostly be for Blue Portals. Sometimes I do somethings with PB, but not likely. . .
It`s not random , first - hot second - brown , third - cold

gonna fix the thing where it reverts to the default texture when fizzled? or is it just too hard to fix?

I have never made a mod or one of these is it really hard and does it involve a lot of math?

@ZemogTorrents
Well, it works off the logic_case system. The same entity Valve uses to randomize their maps in Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 as well in other games/maps.

Aah, I see.

Its true that computers cant be random, they need a structure to get something almost random. Imagine if computers WERE random... chaos.

Nice one. Good to see you're busy experimenting with stuff like this, even if it won't be in PPB.

Would this include companion cube?
gamehacker655 2 years ago
Nope, was not planning. It could be an Easter Egg but not gonna say it is. . .

@reepblue
For blue portals?

@gamehacker655
Well none of these experiments will go into Project-Beta. But I don't want the WCC in BP.

@reepblue
I meant the basic random cube challenge, BTW I wanted the edit the PA maps, are they compile protected?
gamehacker655 2 years ago
Yeah. Don't bother trying. Others have and failed.
