Listen I haven't fully analysed the meaning of Leeds Untied in the song, but the song is clearly about replacing the epmty spaces in your life with entertainment stuff like Law&Order, Dukes of Hazard, Sanwiches, Mac, and why not football too, god knows some people live for it, maybe Amanda is a Leeds fan? I know she played this footbal game once.

That's because this final vocal take they used was an impromptu recording at, I believe, the Edinburgh Festival...Amanda had found the horn section she wanted to use and so cut a really quick version of it, not intending it to be the final - she'd been smoking and drinking the entire week, and so that's why her voice sounds worn. But Ben Folds convinced her to use this first take as the actual version and...here we are :)
