Very best luck with this venture, I've been to Te Anau a couple of times and loved the place; this would add so much if it could operate. I did have a day on the lake with Manuska, not exactly the best of weather admittedly, but still most enjoyable. I'd heard of this steamer, but nobody seemed to know where it was.
@JimTLonW6 Everything seemed to be clear sailing but then she turned into a Kingston Flyer Drama. Real Journeys has possession but they really hate the Idea of her ever sailing again because she is not new and sexy enough for their corporate image.
As a Kiwi and my mothers family had launches on Te Anau in the 20's and thirties the local community should put this old girl back the way she was. As a kid we went to Te Anau on a regular basis and I still remember seeing the Tawera at dock and motoring away up the lake. Mum's family were the Tinkers from Nightcaps they had the Black Diamond Coal Mine at Tinkertown
The funny thing was both my Dads family and my Mums family came to NZ on the Ionic sister ship to the Tianic not knowing each other untill Mum and Dad met. Dad grew up in Te Anau when it was a Ministry of Works Camp plus My Grandad was orking on the Homer Tunnel in the late Thirties. His name is Victor Yarker now passed on,he died in 1996 aged 88

My step brother worked for Eddie Tinker in Te Anau in the '70s and was in London when Eddie died, he helped get him back to NZ.

Its the same problem as the SS United States only smaller
the Owners have no plans but they wont give her to a trust.
Shes going to sit and rust while they pour money into new boats that look like they where designed by people on drugs!
