I have played this song and have no doubt that it is one of the most enjoyable pieces of music but when played by this band the climaxes do not stand out and at times it sounds like a big mess of sounds, the big "ahhh" at the end had no anger or volume, it just sounded like one continuous note. As for the solo she can work a little on her high and low note transitions. Flutes, learn to count.
I realize that a group like this wouldn't go crazy when it came to the singing part, especially at the end.. but we played this today equally as well and went mad on crescendos and the singing lol. Love this piece! One of my all time favorites!! (: I played the ocarina for this ti was awesome!

it was ok...i think my band is better though, we are playing this song for our next concert, our drummers sound really awsome...it sounds alot cooler with a real ocarina also, or with a flute playing the ocarina part if you don't have an ocarina
Nice interpretation. My band used these terracotta whistles, which I was rather fond of, but I like the hand whistler too. Drums don't have to be so loud at the beginning though. Bit rushed in the middle, I think; the conductor wasn't going that fast.
X3 I really don't like the flute part. So confusing! AND my director wants me to play while everyone else is singing so they can actually hit the notes.
i play clarinet, and the solo sounds a little bit...weird to me. It doesn't flow as well as it should. My friend plays the solo, and it's gorgous when she plays it. The switches of the lower to higher notes needs to be cleaner. But it's still really good (:
It sounds a little different probably from timing? The rythmn was different for us. If you mean in the sound...I guess it would sound wierd being recorded, it's a lot different than being upclose and personal =P
i played this with my band last year; i play flute, and it was a lot of fun, but the singing parts for us had different words. good job! also, the handflute parts for us were on the occarina, but really the same sound and concept!!
I did this song as my 7th grade middle school ratings song. It was so much fun, especially the percussion parts. I had the clarinet solos, and the handflute part was played on an occarina.
Very interesting composition and the Handflute playing was so beautiful and haunting! You have great control! Mitsuhiro would be proud of you also. I would like to hear you play a complete solo like he does, and I do.
lmao no offense but it sounds chinese for some reason O.o

Does the conductor get tired?

In my opinion, the tom wasn't into it enough at around 4 minutes. The guy who plays that for us gets really, REALLY into it.
