I used this technique with great success after watching this video a few years ago. I was able to find a through and through GSW to the arm with heavy venous bleeding. Dude was wearing a dark, heavy suit in an area which was with almost no illum. I could barely see my hand in front of my face but my finger slipped right into the wound.
Um.....in reality, they are already screaming. As you become more educated in medicine you will learn that pain is a diagnostic tool. Its better to illicit a pain response than to miss a life threatening injury.
@tacmed2003 Understood, I was just expressing my point of view from an incapacitated soldier whose having a finger going into a severe laceration, I'm not trying to disprove the technique but more Make comedy of the exaggeration in the demonstration to locate (rake) the wound, as it would seem sticking the finger into the wound would be quite painful
I like how after he raked and found the wound he dug around in it- why exactly is that done?
