But the iPhone 3g is not compatible with T-Mobile 3g. So even after jailbreak, you will only get EDGE speed in T-Mobile. You do get 3g with AT&T

I don't know about Canada. At least in US, you are forced to sign a contract with AT&T if you buy iPhone at Walmart.

U can cancel the contract after a month (I think) but you have to pay for breaking the contract
