  • Katie, I have a brother in stage 4 melanoma presently. He was supposed to start the yervoy treatment this week, but his doctor decided it's beyond that, and is moving him into pain management/hospice care. Do you think he should still considering the yervoy? I was curious how hard the side effects were on your body when you took it. I'm just trying to make sure that we're proceeding down the path that is best for him. Thank you.

  • You are such an inspiration! I am a cancer patient.Got a mole on my scalp removed,Melanoma stage four and a tumor removed underneath of it..They then went in my neck and removed lymph nodes, four out of the 60 that they took had cancer. They radiated it and then I did interferon.I was in remission, got married, had my baby. Then just this August I found out that it was back again. Two tumors in my lymph nodes and a lesion on my lung.I have been taking the new FDA approved drug Zelboraf and Temodar

  • @XxharleykinsxX Along with an IV once a week every week.So far my tumors have shrunk down by 40%.The next CT is Dec 6th to see if I can get the surgery and radiation that I need. Those two tumors are so close to my heart that Idk if they can do it.But I hope and pray every single night. My husband and son need me.Thank you for sharing your story with the world! Nobody knows what it means to truly live until they are in this type of situation.

  • to Katie & family,

    You're all inspiring!.

  • Inspired to share after visiting your video. My name is Deborah Shemesh, I was diagnosed with stage four when I was 26, Primary site to the arm, then stomach and throat, (by then I was a parent of a young child), then the bones, brain, and wella, I'm 57 years old. My son, now a grown man of 27. Please visit my story, let's share continue to share the hope and inspiration. We are the miracle that we seeded in our mind - I now teach meditation, and yoga, especially for cancer patients.

  • Wow I had staples in my head too from my first surgery then staples in my neck from my second one...I thought I too had beat cancer but interferon didn't get rid of it nor did radiation so now Im on an IV form of chemotherapy as well as taking four pills in the morning, six at night.Zeldoraf which was JUST approved it doesnt help in long term but it does shrink the tumors down. Please keep us updated as this video was from a yr ago.Be strong patients! Im there with you.

  • Katie...I have watched your video a couple of times...I cried...I hope you are doing as well as can be expected. My beloved dad died 3 months ago from Stage IV melanoma. You and your family are in my thoughts as I write this. May you know that you are loved.**

  • you are in my prayers katie god bless you angel i hope you are doing well....

  • Katie, you have been through hell. I too have a melanoma on my forehead.I thought if if it spread I would just go with it and pass. After seeing your story I intend to fight as you have. Good luck to you. You are a very pretty girl and I feel you are going to make it. I don't pray, however will start with you in mind.

  • 3 years ago I noticed a mole on my armpit that used to be a normal single-colored completely symmetrical mole start to change. The first week or two showed the most change. It was so weird how quickly it was changing. Every day, new notches were forming. Then notches started falling off, the whole mole turned black, got hard, and the top part fell off like a scab. It was 2mm. 3 years later, 4mm. But docs won't biopsy cause it's not 6mm. Doctors can be so stubborn.

  • @wirklichdoof please get a different dr!!!! I have dealt with melanoma for 8 years now and they are not always 6mm or bigger. You need to get a different dr and have him/her biopsy it. It's not that painful and if it comes back nothing then great, but if it is melanoma the earlier you catch it the better!! Please find a different dr! even if it is just for this

  • My voice cries out to God for you. I will be on my knees praying for you every single night.

  • @PeGcityPROFIT Don't give up on mama. Be strong for her. You are stronger than you think. email me if you need support too. Be courageous. that's what your parents would want for you.Always remember you carry your parents with you everyday. You are never alone:)

  • This drug Ipilimumab, has made my life, livable again!

Yervoy is antibody that blocks a molecule known as cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen or CTLA-4, slows down or turning off the body’s immune system, affecting its ability to fight off cancerous cells.ithe drug allows the body’s immune system to recognize, target, and attack cells in melanoma tumors. The drug is administered intravenously.

ipilimumab nine of 15 patients continued to benefit from the therapy for at least two yrs.

  • Thanks for the support, I finished a round of Ipilumumeb (mild side effects) about 4 months ago, it has just been approved by the FDA.....PLEASE PLEASE anyone who has a loved one struggling with Melanoma should ask their oncologist for this drug. I have been fighting so hard to survive since 2006 and I have to say that since this drug, my life has improved dramatically. 3 tumors in my body since last scan and I have not had any ER runs since then! scans are soon, to find out where I stand now!

  • @R028016 How are things looking now? Prayers go out to you! Keep Fighting!

  • My wife 34 has stage iv melonoma diagnosed in March this year. As KAtie, my wife has been going through a lot of hell and complications. She tried one experimental chemo and 2 other chemos but the seem to slow it down at best. I hear a clinical trial for plx 4032 is the best clinical trial out there but the cancer has to have a certain genetic mutation in order to work. they test for that. My wife wasnt a lucky one. Hang in there. Its balance between hope and optimism vs realites of statsitics.

  • I wish you all the best, my heart is breaking for you and your family, hugs to you all.

I'm set for more mole removals and find out if my melanoma is back after 12 years, so your story is a real inspiration to me. Take care

  • sad my dad died from cancer samething today
