They're the same, really, just in different languages, and therefore can be interpreted differently. Just saying, Japanese songs are nice but I would think that there are the same amount of types of songs as English songs. Just depends on where you look and popularity of said songs/singers.

Seriously people... Your heart is on the left side of your chest, so you use the opposite hand (right hand) to touch it. Kaito simply moved the switch the sword to his other hand prior touching his heart (sometime after singing about it [sword] being in his right).

@atthespeckofdawn windows 7 runs with japanese programs, i am pretty sure that the computer has the ability to translate it. if not go to the upper left coner and click オプション or セッティング then click 言語 then 'english'. but i dont know about the english translating though, im getting the program myself, but i know fo a fact that the program will run.
Kaito needs to be made compatible with newer computers. As it stands, with Windows 7 and Vista, if you click to click and drag for too long he'll lock up and you'll have to restart him. He's got such a beautiful depth to his voice that I think it needs to be preserved for future prospective Vocaloid users. Him and Meiko both, actually. Their mature sound is impossible to match with the Vocaloid 2's.

Like, the Vocaloid 2 series is great, but Crypton started leaning more towards a younger audience, and towards voices that would be able to produce fast, quick songs, usually upbeat. Meiko and Kaito on the other hand, despite being more prone to sounding robotic when used wrong and not realyl being able to sing songs that are too high/fast, have a unique voice that the "younger" sounding Vocaloid 2 series just can't match.
@TheRogueVocaloid It may have something to do with how may resources Vista and 7 use; since audio creation software also requires many resources (memory, CPU, etc.) the combo may gum up the computer's speed. I had to switch from Vista, because even with maximum RAM and a dual processor, it still ran too slowly to be useful... Typically, sound and video software run slowly on computers with demanding operating systems.
@SuperGrouper Trying to make him work in 7 ended up fucking him up worse, and I'm no longer capable of reinstalling, since the uninstall I did to try and reinstall didn't fully take with the old software. My Vista computer that was capable of running him with only a few hitches ended up dying to a virus, and I don't have the boot disks anymore to completely wipe the thing and start over just to reinstall him. (It'd be the only reason I would try, that computer's a PoS, but I love my Kaito.)

I think Kaito was a soldier who died in a war protecting his comrades and his town a long time ago. After he died he was forgotten by everyone, by time. He's waiting for his fellow soldiers to come cross over with him.
Or he Died in a great battle and while he died his comrades survived and he waits for the day when they will die and join him so he can cross to the other side with his comrades by his side.
This song instantly reminds me of the statue of a Crusader that is in a certain city that I once traveled to... The story just sound like one that the statue might tell if he could speak! And songs like this make me worship Hinayukki(the producer of this marvellous song and many other equally marvellous ones), I can listen to her (Yes! i think kaito died protecting the town and his friends he would trust with his very life. he got lost in the woods and died trying to find his lost friends. a statue was built in his honor when he was dubbed MIA.... after the statue was finished he found the town but died in front of his statue sealing his soul there to wait for those long gone and forgotten by time and mind...... his trusted friends.....

First time I listened to this, and about a minute into it, I got goosebumps. O_O;; This is weird, normally I don't get goosebumps like that after the first time hearing it..
and because we love sadness... it's one of the emotions that, if not most of all, reaches us deeply and touches our heart in such a way... and we crave that inner feeling, that... intensity of heart. sadness is one of the best ways to reach it.
and, i know how you feel, i love sad songs/ shows yet i'm normally a happy person :) they're addicting, and i have a belief that no story can be truly good without a good amount of sadness.
from what i can gather kaito and his comrades were to protect a city and succeeded but lost many men and the living died from their wounds so they made a statue of kaito in remembrance of his but not his dead friends who have long since "passed on" he tries to believe he is in the land of the dead but he is not and is held back on earth somehow by the statue then he realizes he's the one stuck on earth and he is there as long as the statue stands

The story is kind of confusing, I agree. Everyone has a lot of different views/take/understanding of the lyrics.
Did Kaito die first, or was it his friends? Is Kaito already dead when he first start singing this song, or did he die a 4th way through the song? Are the voices Kaito speak of in 1:41 the voices of passing people around Kaito's location, or the voices of his friends at the battlefield? Why does Kaito think his friends went to the other side, and him unable to move?
0:37 - The street is the current setting. Mention of time forgotten one. Since this song is about Kaito being so, it must mean Kaito's talking about his own story.
0:46 - Crimson stained wall, mark of Kaito's grave site?
0:52 - People walking by him. He's been waiting for friends.
1:00 - Kaito offers a prayer. He prays for his friends.
1:10 to 1:13 - War already ended, he wonders where his friends had gone.
1:17 - No grass grows, means place of the dead. Could also mean battlefield had grass. So, battlefield back then is different from current "street". Either way, his friends aren't in the same place as Kaito's current location.
1:25 to 1:34 -Time has stopped when everyone was there. Hints that this is when Kaito's been separated from friends. Kaito's prayers for friends didn't reach the other side also adds onto the fact.
1:42 - Voices no longer "there". "There" as in the other side.
2:45 to 2:52 - Friends being together back then, but Kaito's now alone on current street.
2:54 - Like voices, familiar faces are gone. The voices he mentioned could also means his friend's voices, rather than the people passing by him. So this means Kaito's been dead long before.
2:58 to 3:40 - Kaito's death made clear at this part. He's "different" from his friends and can't move from his location because of being dead.
3:46 to 3:54 - Time stop, body stop, and wait for friends. Going back to the beginning of the song at 1:25.
3:59 to 4:10 - He belongs there at the street, people passing by him, waiting for them. This goes all the way back to the first few lines of lyrics Kaito had sung. So, my conclusion is that Kaito's already been dead at the beginning of song.
i think that he was in the war and his friend betrayed him and killed him but he waited them for them trying to deny that he had died and fooling himself to thinking that time had stopped and he was the only one alive and that his friends forgot about him when they probably already knew
i mainly think of this theory because since the beginning he was holding the sword he said and he talking about fighting a friend whom he could trust his back to

@TheRogueVocaloid It may have something to do with how may resources Vista and 7 use; since audio creation software also requires many resources (memory, CPU, etc.) the combo may gum up the computer's speed. I had to switch from Vista, because even with maximum RAM and a dual processor, it still ran too slowly to be useful... Typically, sound and video software run slowly on computers with demanding operating systems.

@SuperGrouper Trying to make him work in 7 ended up fucking him up worse, and I'm no longer capable of reinstalling, since the uninstall I did to try and reinstall didn't fully take with the old software. My Vista computer that was capable of running him with only a few hitches ended up dying to a virus, and I don't have the boot disks anymore to completely wipe the thing and start over just to reinstall him. (It'd be the only reason I would try, that computer's a PoS, but I love my Kaito.)

Someone said Kaito holds the sword in the wrong hand in the picture... I think there might be a mistake in this translation, for the original lyrics is more like "his sword is old, and he offers a prayer with his right hand"^_^ Anyway, Hinayukki drew this picture herself so it shouldn't be wrong! (Many say Hinayukki is a lady and I'd rather belive it, because it's nice to have such an accomplished female in the male-dominated world of Vocaloid producers...)

I think Kaito was a soldier who died in a war protecting his comrades and his town a long time ago. After he died he was forgotten by everyone, by time. He's waiting for his fellow soldiers to come cross over with him.

This song instantly reminds me of the statue of a Crusader that is in a certain city that I once traveled to... The story just sound like one that the statue might tell if he could speak! And songs like this make me worship Hinayukki(the producer of this marvellous song and many other equally marvellous ones), I can listen to her (Yes! She's a lady^~^) songs on a bad day till I cry really bitterly in the pillow...then I feel better. *^_^*

i think kaito died protecting the town and his friends he would trust with his very life. he got lost in the woods and died trying to find his lost friends. a statue was built in his honor when he was dubbed MIA.... after the statue was finished he found the town but died in front of his statue sealing his soul there to wait for those long gone and forgotten by time and mind...... his trusted friends.....

and because we love sadness... it's one of the emotions that, if not most of all, reaches us deeply and touches our heart in such a way... and we crave that inner feeling, that... intensity of heart. sadness is one of the best ways to reach it.
and, i know how you feel, i love sad songs/ shows yet i'm normally a happy person :) they're addicting, and i have a belief that no story can be truly good without a good amount of sadness.

from what i can gather kaito and his comrades were to protect a city and succeeded but lost many men and the living died from their wounds so they made a statue of kaito in remembrance of his but not his dead friends who have long since "passed on" he tries to believe he is in the land of the dead but he is not and is held back on earth somehow by the statue then he realizes he's the one stuck on earth and he is there as long as the statue stands

well my opinion might not matter but.. i thinkthat there was a great war and all of his friends died and there was a statue made in kiato's honor, but, he wonders why his friends didnt get a statue or any mention for their deaths and bravery. and now he feels liek hes frozen in time people forgeting about him as well...wonderful song, beautiful melody and awe inspiring lyrics, fits together perfectly. ^^ luv ya kaito!

The story is kind of confusing, I agree. Everyone has a lot of different views/take/understanding of the lyrics.
Did Kaito die first, or was it his friends? Is Kaito already dead when he first start singing this song, or did he die a 4th way through the song? Are the voices Kaito speak of in 1:41 the voices of passing people around Kaito's location, or the voices of his friends at the battlefield? Why does Kaito think his friends went to the other side, and him unable to move?

Here's my take.
0:37 - The street is the current setting. Mention of time forgotten one. Since this song is about Kaito being so, it must mean Kaito's talking about his own story.
0:46 - Crimson stained wall, mark of Kaito's grave site?
0:52 - People walking by him. He's been waiting for friends.
1:00 - Kaito offers a prayer. He prays for his friends.
1:10 to 1:13 - War already ended, he wonders where his friends had gone.

1:17 - No grass grows, means place of the dead. Could also mean battlefield had grass. So, battlefield back then is different from current "street". Either way, his friends aren't in the same place as Kaito's current location.
1:25 to 1:34 -Time has stopped when everyone was there. Hints that this is when Kaito's been separated from friends. Kaito's prayers for friends didn't reach the other side also adds onto the fact.
1:42 - Voices no longer "there". "There" as in the other side.

1:44 to 1:54 - Here's the tricky part. Is this the first time the wall appears? Or is it a part of a repeating cycle?
1:57 to 2:05 - A start to the repeating cycle or not?
2:28 to 2:40 - Repeat of 1:17 to 1:34
2:45 to 2:52 - Friends being together back then, but Kaito's now alone on current street.
2:54 - Like voices, familiar faces are gone. The voices he mentioned could also means his friend's voices, rather than the people passing by him. So this means Kaito's been dead long before.

2:58 to 3:40 - Kaito's death made clear at this part. He's "different" from his friends and can't move from his location because of being dead.
3:46 to 3:54 - Time stop, body stop, and wait for friends. Going back to the beginning of the song at 1:25.
3:59 to 4:10 - He belongs there at the street, people passing by him, waiting for them. This goes all the way back to the first few lines of lyrics Kaito had sung. So, my conclusion is that Kaito's already been dead at the beginning of song.

i think that he was in the war and his friend betrayed him and killed him but he waited them for them trying to deny that he had died and fooling himself to thinking that time had stopped and he was the only one alive and that his friends forgot about him when they probably already knew
i mainly think of this theory because since the beginning he was holding the sword he said and he talking about fighting a friend whom he could trust his back to
