  • The Ladykillers (original)

  • Big

  • After Hours

  • ok these are my last suggestions but no one else mentioned them so I will

  • UP would be my choice for Russ Meyers funniest film.....and well done for the mention of The Bed Sitting Room.

  • 'Mon Oncle' (1958) - Jacques Tati's masterpiece with his Monsieur Hulot character.

  • 'Sullivan's Travels' (1941) - Great Sturges film; McCrea is great in this satire as a movie director w/Veronica Lake

  • Mon Oncle

Is this ten yet? This one needs mentioning, at least for it's old school style pantomine and slapstick. Yet it is set in a somewhat modern world (the Mod world of the sixties), lots of sight gags and simple truths! Oh and it's foreign and so it has some of that different viewpoint that isn't often seen in American films. Worth the rental!

That's it for now (LOL)! I believe most of the rest of my short list were either already mentioned or not quite to the top!

  • Stranger Than Paradise

No one else on this list is going to have heard of this one! Jim Jarmusch's b&w story of an Americanized young male immigrant, showing his foreigner female cousin (who's on vacation) what life is like in America. Simple, unusual, delightful!

  • American Graffiti

Undersung (but dated?)! George Lucas isn't often remembered for this one, but way better than many of the contempoary "coming of age" films. This is one of the originals! Did all of that really happened in one night?

  • Super Vixens

Better than Beyond the Valley of Dolls or Rocky Horror, if you vote this one up, you're voting for Super Vixens! Russ Myer directed, the big-breasted, two-fisted classic clash between love and hate! Which will win out? Who cares, look at those bazongas!

  • Pink Flamingos

John Waters' break through cult classic! It is rude and obscene, but for a young adult (or old one), it's funny as hell! No other movie like it!

  • Slaughterhouse Five

Seems a lot of mine are sci-fi comedies! Am I really that nerdy, LOL? Based on Kurt Vonnegut Jr's book, well made vision of a mixed-up person's life, jumping back and forth through-out his own life, a time traveler of sorts, but not of his own choice.

  • The Life of Brian

Another Monty Python great, not sure it's already mentioned here. But whereas everyone has seen Holy Grail and The Meaning of Life; The Life of Brian deserves some accolades too!

  • One Bed Sitting Room

Richard Lester directed, a great Britishly silly comedy of a post apocalyptic world where everyone pickups the pieces, going about their day and pretends nothing has gone awry! Hilarious!

  • Dark Star

Was this John Carpenter's student film? And did George Lucas have anything to do with it? I'm not sure why, I've got all this mixed-up mythos about this one. Great film btw, for anyone who hasn't seen it!

  • Brazil

Another undersung movie, not many know it!

  • 'You Can't Cheat An Honest Man' (1939) - most underrated film starring W.C. Fields w/cast a of talent.

  • The Neighbors

This one is so unknown. Is there a reason for that, maybe something to do with John Belushi's estate? Anyone who hasn't seen it, worth a rental, John Beluschi with Dan Akroyd, the classic team-up!

  • Harold and Maude

  • Repo Man

  • Okay, but it's gonna look like I'm spamming you, LOL! I'll narrow my list to top ten not already listed. Anyone is free to pull others from my list to be voted on.

    Number One: Stand By Me

  • The Mouse That Roared

  • 'You Can't Take It with You' (1938) - The scene between Barrymore & Lane is priceless; great cast & dialogue.

  • National Lampoon's Vacation

  • Rushmore

  • Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein

  • Ninotchka (1939) - Garbo was great in Comedy

  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off There's Something About Mary Stand By Me Young Frankenstein Repo Man Harold and Maude The Neighbors Thank You Masked Man Super Bad Dark Star One Bed Sitting Room The In-Laws(orig) Brazil The Life of Brian The Holy Grail Little Shop of Horrors(orig) Slaughterhouse Five Dr.Strangelove Pink Flamingos Super Vixens Beyond the Valley of Dolls Rocky Horror American Graffiti Stranger Than Paradise Beetle Juice Mon Oncle Delicatessen Eating Raoul Burbs
  • alright, my final decision is "BEING THERE"!!!

  • Police Academy

  • Galaxy Quest

  • I hope They Serve Beer In Hell....soon to be a cult classic!

  • The In-Laws

  • Monty Python & The Holy Grail

  • 'The Stooge' (Martin & Lewis)

  • 'The Nutty Professor' (1963) (Jerry Lewis)

  • Blazing Saddles LOL They don't make em like they used to!

  • Smokey and The Bandit!... nuff said!

  • Eveything you always wanted to know about Sex w/Woody Allen

  • The Money Pit w/ Shelley Long & Tom Hanks

  • The Great Race Tony Curtis & Natalie Wood

  • Johnny Dangerously

  • ..Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein may be deservedly in everyones top five......but I feel The Producers is pure raw comic inspiration....The Python films,The Marx Brothers, Tati, Sellers, Christopher Guest , Woody Allen....fom these and many others, I shall try and whittle it down to one.

  • and "KIngpin", brilliant and underrated!

  • Little Miss Sunshine

  • Married to the Mob

  • ok thought of some more, I love these voting on things, but usually get dissapointed, so don't let us down!... In & Out with a brilliant performance by Kevin Kline!

  • @MADWORLD1427 I think I choose "Full Monty" ;)

  • ... The Classic high tension Footage of Blackballs please ... Cliff Starkey does not seem to have enough exposure ... Cult Classic Status

  • good video is comic very, bery good, hugs my friend.

  • I have two favorite comedies...and they are TRULY a tie...they are "High Anxiety" and "Down And Out In Beverly Hills". Both of these movies are just HILARIOUS in my opinion.

    Thanks,

    Buster
