The Cream colored Schipperke, as well as all solid colored Schips are now accepted into the UKC. They can be shown conformation UKC and there is one Champion Cream colored Schip now. The website for the club is usschipclub
Thanks for the comments! Outside of the USA these colours are not "illegal" and my gold schipperke is actually a registered pure-bred schip! :-) I think the cream colour is also acceptable in the UK - but whatever colour they are, they are schipperke through and through when it comes to personality, attitude and "big cheeky dog in small dog's body".
very interesting, obviously schipperke mixes. Like spots on a dalmation, the coloration defines the breed. Black is intricate to being a schip. Beatiful dogs though.
NOT !!! Colors other than black are registerable through AKC. Check there for color codes. It's the SCA that sets the black only for confirmation shows. Other colores can show in agility, CD amoung others. Awesome Dogs see here.
If "AKC" is the American Kennel Club than you're wrong. Here is AKC standard for schips: Color: The outercoat must be black. Any color other than a natural black is a disqualification. The undercoat, however, may be slightly lighter. During the shedding period, the coat might take on a transitory reddish cast, which is to be penalized to the degree that it detracts from the overall black appearance of the dog.
FYI, the AKC standard says any other color is a disqualification, meaning it could not compete in a conformation event. The AKC allows for other colors to be registered. (Click on the sidebar link for "Color and Markings" on the AKC page for Schipperkes.) Thus other colors can compete in other AKC events like obedience or agility. In the UK, Australia, New Zealand & South Africa (possibly other countries too), colors other than black can compete & win in the corresponding conformation events.
For more info on mixed breed events, check out Mixed Breed Dog Clubs of America (MBDCA), American Mixed Breed Obedience Registry (AMBOR), North American Mixed Breed Registry (NAMBR). Also check out the US Dog Agility Association. These are all separate from AKC.
Accdg to the AKC, AKC events require dogs to be AKC or PAL/ILP registered or from "foundation stock." Mixed breeds can't compete in AKC events. Also in order for a pup to be AKC registered at all, it must have an AKC registered sire & dam. (Let's not digress into the possibility of fraudulent AKC papers.) Colors other than black in schips are recessive. Check out Midwatch Kennels for more info on AKC light colored schips.
Thanks for the video! Here in the US most schipperkees are black with a few chocolate colored. It's great to see our favorite breed in different colors.

FYI, AKC obediance and agility events are open to all dogs, mix breeds, mutts, whatever......
There are no requirements for breed standards at all. You can call your great dane a chihuahua if you'd like in agility and obedience.
